every year we'd make maple syrup on my grandfather's land.. such great memories.. he had about 80 acres & we'd tap various trees out in the woods.. & then process it in one of his large sheds.. he had a big wood burning furnace in the one shed.. you could literally park a John Deere A in there... with room to spare..

I just got bottle of this Maple syrup as a gift from Canadian guests I had on safari here in South Africa. When I asked about if it is original they said that I won't find any better! We have only maple flavored sugar syrups here so what a treat to try this Original for the first time. When I just wanted to show my girlfriend how the syrup was made I never thought I would show her the video of how my exact bottle was made. 2:36 Where they show the company logo I was very surprised to have the exact brand here in the southern tip of Africa.

This is fantastic. Are there maple stands planted especially for this purpose or is produced only from natural stands? Also, when does the season start? Because where I live people have been doing this on birch trees and used to make schnapps out of fermented birch water.

@Daniel De saint malo Their sap contains only 2-4 percent of sugar so it takes hours to boil it down to a syrup. It's not worth it. Sugar cane contains 10-15 percent, sugar beets 13-18 percent and their life cycle is short so it's better to use these two plants.
