    Never ever mess with someone using mobile assistance equipment. Their lives might well depend on it. Yes, ALWAYS press charges. It's really the only way that type EVER learn. I was thinking the same thing. She knew her mother was wrong but said nothing. Instead of yelling at her mother to stop. Why this didn't attract attention from someone anyone is a mystery. Its sad that Karen had to get someone. Its worse that the manager and Security instantly were on Karen's side. Never once asking OP'S side of the story. Then when her and mom were brought to the front the daughter again kelt her mouth shut. Never once saying anything. Never once told the manager or security what her mother did, never apologized to OP for what her mother did and not saying anything. Yeah she was sad, sad her mother was taken to jail. With a woman like that even if the kid has a dad at hime he's whipped. Hopefully the daughter can learn from this and not be a doormat to her mother.

    I had health collapses about ten years ago. I had to go on welfare for several years, then got disability. I have very limited energy, and am usually in pain. I get by most of the time with a cane, although if I am going into a store by myself for a few things, my roomie ( also on disability) will let me borrow her rollator while she stays in the car. If I;m going to be hunting something down in Walmart, I NEED the rollator. And let me tell you, a personal rollator looks nothing like the scooters with baskets that could be recharging at the front of the store. And if ANYONE tried to take the rollator from me, I will NOT be holding back. I still have a very loud bellow, even if I can't haul off and deck someone with a right hook.
    Yes, press charges. Always press charges. If someone can raise a hand against an obviously disabled person, they have to be dealt with .

      Our Wall-Mart had one or two wheelchairs hanging around, as did other box stores, which I had the pleasure of using when I broke my foot.
      As for mistaking it, I can see that happening as some people do use their rollators as wheelchairs, though always with horrible posture.

      ENTITLEMENT Defined:
      "According to psychologist Karyl McBride, entitlement is defined as “the unreasonable expectation that one should receive special treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations.” In the world of the narcissist, wrote McBride, he or she must always come first. This is called narcissistic entitlement.
      McBride warns that the narcissistically entitled lack the capacity “to feel empathy towards others.” Therefore, they are governed by impulse and craven desires, or as Freud would say, their identity. When a narcissist speaks, others must listen. All must obey. They see themselves as special, even exceptional, and for this reason they must be treated like royalty.
      According to Gallup, 85 percent of Americans hate their jobs. To be an American is to persevere with Sisyphus-like persistence-or at least that used to be the case. Younger workers appear to be less resilient than previous generations. Resilience, which is intimately linked to wellbeing, involves possessing the ability to not just adapt to new situations, but persevere through the pain. Now, though, among the younger generations, perseverance is in short supply. With less commitment to marriage, less commitment to community, and less commitment to religion, millions of Americans are less committed to the idea of work. This is a deeply worrying trend with no obvious solutions.
      Not surprisingly, because of their tendency to manipulate and deceive, narcissists find it incredibly difficult to build or maintain connections with other people. In this “Age of the Selfie,” where individual needs come first, the community comes a distant second. According to one pertinent study, over the past 30 years, American college students have become 30 percent more narcissistic. Thirty years from now, expect things to be 30 percent worse."

      Entitled people continue their entitled behavior until someone finally involves law enforcement and/or the court. It’s not always verbal or physical assault, but suggestive comments and inappropriate behavior. I have a close friend that didn’t want to report someone because of the unwanted attention that would be directed to her. Without going into detail, she worked as a manager in an upscale hotel. This particular hotel had a restaurant, bar, and regularly hosted conferences and events. It got worse until finally she pressed charges as she had witnesses on multiple occasions. She had no idea of the positive “domino” effect, it would have on her place of work. Though completely embellished, word spread that the hotel now had a “zero tolerance” policy with regards to customer/hotel employee interaction especially the female wait staff and bartenders. Suddenly, all of the dirty old men that everyone dreaded to see on the guest register, were courteous and respectful of the employees’ personal space. All of this happened because she did what she should’ve done, several years ago, and pressed charges. Again, the events are non-related, but the victim did the right thing by involving law enforcement and the courts.

    I've heard the rollator story before but not (all) the updates as best I can recall. And I fully agree with the frustration about so many NOT pressing charges. Whilst I can understand why in a lot of cases what they should consider that if these entitled idiots don't suffer consequences for their actions then said idiots will keep doing it to other people.
    Another frustration for me is that I've not yet heard any account of what the entitled idiots gave the court as an excuse for their actions (plus what the judge said in reply).

  • @JamesDoe67
    @JamesDoe67 4 года назад +42

    In germany he wouldn't have to press charges - the police would do it anyway - if he want or if he not want - assaulting a disabled person will be prosecuted anyway. Up to a certain level of crime (assault, theft) you could refuse to press carges if asked by the police. But some circumstances (assaulting a disabled person) will make it a "public interest" - and if it is in public interest the police will press charges if the victim like or not. And the victim can't press charges because the police does.
    But you can go after compensation for pain, suffering and damages. This is independent from the criminal charges, and even if she is not guilty of criminal charges, you can win the compensation because its an other trail at an other court.

      If a crime has been committed the the police can charge the perpetrator regardless. Asking the victim about "pressing" charges is just making sure they are prepared to give evidence.
      If the Police do not charge the perp then you could take a private prosecution but this can be perilous.

    • @danlewis6157
      @danlewis6157 4 года назад +2

      It’s the same here. The state presses charges through the district attorney. Asking the victim is polite in minor crimes, but even then not needful. Mostly it serves the perpetrator to hear that it could happen. Also, for misdemeanors, it must occur in the officers’ presence for an immediate arrest. Thus she was arrested on the spot for assaulting the officers and resisting/obstructing the officers, and for possession of stolen property. I don’t know about other states, but in California she’s got at least a couple of hard felonies there: Robbery (theft by force or fear) and assault/battery likely to produce great bodily harm.

      It's not that people "don't want to be bothered" that they don't press charges. It's the fact that when you do, both parties get copies of the papers, that contain the victim's full names, address and lots of other personal information that they don't want the Karen or her relatives having access to. Also if the person is employed somewhere, many jobs are not too tolerant to the many days of missed work, depositions, court appearances, delays, etc. that can drag on for weeks, months, even sometimes a year or two, depending on how crowded the court dockets are, and the charges filed, and so forth. It's also the fact that there is always a slow news day and some eager beaver reporter who will splash it all over the local news, and the victim may not want the publicity from his/her friends and family, customers and clients, children's teachers and friends, and everybody else they know and/or do business with.

All caught on tape and when arrested denied being there then played the victim and said it was self defence...still in legal system . My vicious gym teacher fell down from his roof, trying to fix his TV antenna, and broke his back ... rip.
    In highschool I had a psychic terrorising math teacher, who loved to turn people down to despair at the blackbard.
    He later became Rector of the Highschool, and committed (rather smallish) fraud by keeping powertools the school paid for.
    He got in the local papers, got sacked and moved out of the country.

    I’m glad S got what she deserved. I feel so sorry for the man, and for harpy/harridan’s daughter. I can understand the daughter not trying to argue with her mom, as this kind of thing has likely happened many times before, and the daughter knows her mother wouldn’t listen. What puzzles me, is why the man didn’t call out for help when the woman began physically trying to take ht he Rollator.
    I hope the gentleman knows that on top of the sentencing he mentioned, from Snooty’s POV, there were far worse consequences:
    People like her are all about image and social standing. People in her circle doubtless already knew she was a crazy biatch. Now it’s likely all over town what Snooty did to the man and the cops, that she spent at least one night in jail, has a record, and will likely have to perform some very demeaning community service. _That’s_ the cherry on top of the justice sundae.

      Too many people are just too nice. I would immediately do 2 things. One: the moment I sense I'm about to be in such an altercation, I'll start video or voice recording the event. Two: start screaming non-stop, like they do, at the top of my lungs and not let them get a word in. To let everyone in the whole damn store know what they did and to attract as much attention as possible. If they start butting in, just continue non-stop and scream louder. I too think this store should have been sued. When SS and SM approached the victim, the first words out of their mouths were 2 false accusations: that he was trying to take a wheelchair from a handicapped customer and was "obviously" passing himself off as an employee. Just for that, they ought to be sued too.
