    Drugs have always been “prevalent”, and drug addiction doesn’t discriminate! My sister died in 1996 from fentanyl poisoning, she od’d on that and heroin. She was 41. An addict for around 25 years and clean for 3 years, decided to do it one more time and that’s all it took!!

    • @yvonamayvei9208
      @yvonamayvei9208 3 месяца назад

      *But how do you know she decided to do it one more time? You can’t know for sure. Maybe she’d been back at it and hiding it well. (Or maybe a month or so, who really knows). If it was the one time and she OD’d on that one time, then no way to really tell. What is obvious from these stories and other stories on documentaries for addicts etc; is that, the path to recovery and REMAINING CLEAN until the day they die is remarkably hard.*
      I truly feel so so bad hearing and listening to these stories and I TRULY THANK GOD that I have never had a need or felt a need to try drugs and or smoke anything. If anything, I was turned off pretty early from smoking since I never liked the smell/coughing when near the older ones who were engaging.
      *As for drugs, it was hearing horror stories like these ones ((not fentanyl)) but heroin, cocaine etc and even some celebrities; couple who I really admired, pass away from an overdose of drugs, and I was always as a young girl, scared to die “that way.” I used to think maybe I’d embarrass my family leaving such a legacy behind. (That’s just how i honestly felt, and it stuck with me). And honestly, in a way, am glad I had that mentality and/or experience from hating the smoke smell+couging while near older teens because I truly believe these two things truly caused me to stay away from these vices all these these years!*
      Almost 50 now, and I am TRULY GRATEFUL because i truly believe deep down that I would definitely have been in the category of those who constantly relapsed. I just feel it, I tend to not let go of other habits easily at all, so am inclined to think that. Plus, after my c-sections I was given some stuff for the pain that I hate to say I kind of enjoyed the “calming” feeling and deep relaxations. I specifically remember thinking (and praying heavily), that I don’t get addicted after the couple weeks or so and seek more. I promised myself I wouldn’t ask for more if I finished the original prescribed dosages. Thankfully, I never did.
      *BUT, I still remember to this day, that/those feelings and I can see how these folks get easily addicted and can’t quite stay off. ((Very scary to me, if I think long and hard about it; and to anyone who kicks drug addictions off AND STAY OFF FOREVER? I truly take my proverbial hat off to them because NO WAY THAT IS EASY….NO WAY…..*

    • @JayAllDay07130
      @JayAllDay07130 2 месяца назад +2

      This. I was an addict for almost 2 decades. One thing I will say though, is I’ve seen alot of my addiction friends go to jail full blown and sick and they come out looking healthy and clean, so sometimes actual prison can be a God send to some addicts. Not saying a good amount don’t get out and relapse and die, but I’ve seen a few make it out just by going to prison

    • @JayAllDay07130
      @JayAllDay07130 2 месяца назад

      @@fireluvrno, trying to numb a trauma that you don’t know how to deal with, with whatever you can get your hands on to numb the pain, is a prison. Wanting to stop and be normal and healthy, but your sick brain and addicted body won’t let you do that. Having such good intentions, and deep down being an amazing person, but the drug makes you look like a pos, it robs you of your soul, that’s a prison. The trauma, the fear, the pain, the mental illness, the avoidance, the panic, the stigma, it’s all a prison. Not every addict sells their body, I was an addict for almost 2 decades, never sold my body, always had a job…..sometimes 2 or 3, always had a vehicle and a roof over my head, I have 2 college degrees, I’m a licensed veterinary technician, and I did all of this while being a full blown “functional” addict. Never stole from anybody. Tried to not hurt anybody except myself. Was very close with my grandma, saw her every week, dinner, movies, everything. We’re people dude. We’re just dealing with crazy s**t and suffering and a lot of us don’t have the coping skills that non addicts have, some of us would rather just forget instead of working through it. Sometimes that drug saves our lives, because if it wasn’t for using, we would’ve offed ourselves along time ago and left this world, it’s like a paradox. Throughout the majority of my addiction I was dead set on saying “it’s not a disease, it’s a choice, cancer patients have a disease and they don’t wake up everyday and CHOOSE to have a little cancer”, and drs would look at me like I was crazy, and in the end I realized, it is most certainly a mental disease, and you can’t treat the physical addiction without treating the mental disease of addiction. Cancer patients end up dying from their disease, and so do addicts. I felt gross the majority of the time I was using, literally disgusting, but my brain just wouldn’t let me stop, and unfortunately fighting with your brain is a losing battle, because your brain is the most imp organ in your body, you’ll lose everytime. If you don’t want to read this, don’t do that lame s**t and comment “not reading that”, just simply don’t read it and move on with life, just trying to give perspective.

We have medical marijuana and children are taking it. For example, that helps major big time with seizures, I would personally rather my kid be taking marijuana than eating a bunch of opioids. My son had poly disorder SUD disorder, lots of mental health issues that led him to his addiction ultimately making it worse and taking his life because there is no help just like this mom said. It’s ignorant for people to sit there and make comments before passing judgment your opinions to yourself if you don’t like something, you don’t know the story it’s horrible. The combination in the community may be the first start. Awsreness, old school tough lough and more importantly God's wisdom and love on top of it ALL!!

    If a child has OCD this should be a worrying sign for seeking help, not using him for help.. I just want to point that out for others who read this and whose kids show similar signs. Same like the other video with people pleaser - both is a sign that the child is not well and probably dealing with anxiety and other feelings on the inside.

      Wouldn't it be nice if people donated to addiction research and resources & education the way people support people with cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc.? People with addiction problems are judged like it hasn't been proven to be a biochemical, neurological disorder, usually along with a history of trauma, often with other untreated mental illnesses, and lack of knowledge and resources. In fact all those are clearly recognised as causative

      @@mariela06012 I hate to say this, but I agree with you. Started smoking weed when I was 13 years old. Smoked it for 50 years. Sober only five years and I am 68 years old. I managed to keep a lid on it, and never got in trouble or anything, but what a life of wasted potential! I don't go down this road very often, because feeling sorry for yourself does no good. But I'm sorry that I was left at 13 years old unsupervised, in the early seventies. Parental supervision and love and acceptance is the most important thing, I think. And screw their privacy! I would be secretly tossing their room and possessions on the regular! If anyone has a child, they have to make it their business to learn everything about drugs, all drugs! Anyway, I agree with you.

      I don’t really think that’s the case, and I think it very unfair of you to say such a thing. Parents don’t want their kids to smoke weed or involve themselves in any other paraphernalia….usually we just accept what already is because we don’t want it to get worse. Or we don’t want to push them away. It’s not as simple or cut and dry as you made it seem….

I said another parent who thinks their kids smoking weed is not as big of an issue because it’s only weed o just a phase that their kids are going through and to me that’s unacceptable! It’s normalizing the situation!!!! So you have to accept that your kids are involved in things they shouldn’t be doing because you afraid that it will get worse or you pushing them away?? Really??? So you think that by accepting this it will get better ? Or that they will just stick to weed and they are not going to want to experience a different type of drug?? You know what you should do? You should figure out if there is an specific reason why they are smoking weed!!! Are they trying to self medicate because theres some type of underlying mental disorder ? Is it because the kids they hang around with ? Is it because they are going through something and they don’t know how to deal with it? You can’t just sit there and wait to see what will be the outcome because it might be too late!!!!

      Yall doing the most. Have yall had kids that smoked weed?? Because I have! And getting them help was next to IMPOSSIBLE!! Police don’t want to arrest minors for that. They claim they have to do worse stuff. Secondly, I forced them to rehab. No help either. They constantly failed drug tests and there were no repurcussions. I asked about inpatient treatment. Couldn’t get it until outpatient was failed first which would be 16 failed drug tests. Also, those camps or drug rehabs costs tens of thousands of dollars so what other help is there please?

      It is so sad hearing all of these stories, but almost all of them started with marijuana. Too many people think that it isn't a big deal because it is natural and many will even argue that it isn't even a drug. I hate that it has become legal in most places now. I feel like I was brought up in a different time because when I was growing up, I remember that we were taught not to do drugs. Of course that makes some want to do it that much more, but those who decide to do it have to live with the consequences.

      @@shortyash100YES!!! I HATE that it’s been legalized and I have to smell it so many places. I hate the message it sends to kids. Is it a gateway drug for EVERY person who does it? No. But it absolutely can and I would venture to say likely WILL be a gateway drug for those people who have any sort of family history of / genetic predisposition toward addiction. Like a mother said on one of these videos I watched the other day, “he thought to himself, well, weed wasn’t that bad, let me try something else.” It opens doors. You won’t tell me different. And some people have no clue that they might be more predisposed to addiction. So once you open that door, it’s hard to close. Sure, either way alcohol, too. But no one is spiking alcohol with fentanyl, so…
