What a phenomenal talent Roy was. I once read long ago that to watch Roy's fingers on the fretboard was akin to watching spiders dancing on a hot plate (words to that effect). The man was amazing. RIP Roy.
Uploader I praise you, 1974 in NY is the ultimate version, but this does me in, I’m a guitar guy, it’s so satisfying to see Roy destroy this song so late in his career and I thank you, if you wanna lead guitar, you start here
@Uggybow the poor lord of the telecaster did never deserve death in any manner bringnig and delivering his very telecaster and his soul music to many souls around.very sad story.Best soul blues i will ever hear.
OMG! Was BS's with a co-worker about Roy and dug this ol' tune up. Took me right back to the late 70's when Roy played at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center. I can still smell it! Thanks for the great memories!!
He was beaten to death for public drunkness. Or did the inmates beat him to death - I doubt it. However when he was found with a sweater around his neck his face was clearly beaten- makes sense to you? Poor Roy, what a soul...
Roy plays in techniques all unique to himself. One of a kind . If someone plays like him ......well I don't know, Roy is such a master of his own techniques that he is one of he greatest in the world. And what I like the most is Roy just plays.....nothing wrong with dancing with ur guitar and jump in around . Roy lets the music do the talking and his soul just pours out of him thru that guitar. R.I.P. Roy we love Ya.
Roy Buchanan died under some very suspicious circumstances...the cable/satellite muzik channels as well as the recording industry works very hard at white-washing the story of what happened.
Better than "storage wars". This must be herd by the animals...wtf happened here ? Jam this all this and a bag. Of chips........shut this world down...over some fkn Chips fkn Roy. Very tuff
@saginawpaw who cares, good music, enjoy it, let other people put words and genres and blah blah on it, in the end, its just notes in the air, cant contain it even if we think we can.
the story was, he had a long running feud with a sheriff in arkansas. he got picked up for drunk driving and was taken to jail. while there he hung himself in the drunk tank. his wife said Roy had stopped drinking quite awhile before that night. thats the story i got
Roy Buchanan's guitar is like a religious experience; and Carey Zeigler's vocals superb. Great drummer too.
listen to this and you'll understand why Jeff Beck admired Roy so much. This man was a tortured soul who had profound genius....
Greatest 🎸 Master of ALL TIME

Best version of this marvelous song, first learned of it from Roy. Thanks Roy.
Roy can make his guitars cry one of the best
Roy still lives.
The Great Roy Buchanan....RIP
Fell in love with this song
Zeigler vocals are unreal!!!!
After the one by Buddy Miles, Buchanan did this extraordinary version. God bless him wherever he may be

I was there, too! Remember the PA system was quadrophonic. They had a lot of cops there... guess they expected a riot or something.
On bass and vocals is Carey Zeigler

Is that Vince Santoro on drums? Whoever it is, he really holds his own next to Roy Buchanan and Carey Ziegler!

Very Good Point.
This is NOT a glam rock band in sparkley spandex, lol!
This is virtuoso playing.
The world is a dangerous place. Ever Vigilant is a good motto. Great Player..
Magnificent
Great, great stuff. The definitive version he did of this is on the "Sweet Dreams" anthology but this is pretty boss, too. Thanks for posting.

Dean Williams Don't forget Duane man.
@@fu6223 naw you can exclude peter, once he became a acid casualty and was a shadow of his former self he doesnt count
This bass player and vocalis reminds me Dan Macferty from Nazareth.Very good!

Epiphone made an Epi-Tele on and off for a few years. Model 210 I think. It could be one of those, but yeah, I am curious too.
Think it's a guild t250

This was tamed compared to the live in Japan version

pretty boring until 5:30 and then suddenly it was like Holy Shit. Rory Buchanan is in the house!

He died in the Fairfax County, Virginia Jail.
