University Students Queima das Fitas Coimbra, Portugal

Once a year in mid May, dating back to 1850s, the city of Coimbra explodes with the University of Coimbra student celebration Queima das Fitas. A citywide celebration of university graduates with a huge parade of over a hundred cars-flots, loaded with alcoholic drinks, generously poured into the student body. It's a family affair with parents joining in, often pouring beer proudly over their graduating sons and daughters. What a happy festival, let's just say, it is likely the biggest student festival in the world and, huh, it's also my hometown!!
It's all a positive energy party, where police (not a whole lot, actually) is there to assist the sometimes overly-inebriated participants. Part of my Portugal Unscripted Series, it features two of my songs Whole Lotta Trouble and Getting Out of Bed - available on all streaming media & with their own amazing videos (really)!
