    This is on my short list of must buys. I've had the V3 for years, and it's always a PITA to mount it to all my different uppers and rifles.

    I must say I think moving to aluminum bracketry was a good idea, 3 1/2 months with the old style printed one, you've pretty much addressed all my thoughts!!

    I'd echo the sentiment about buying the new parts if we have the older style mount. I've got the sporter and I think all I need is that new clamp for the bayonet and maybe the rail mount. My rail mounts are the adjustable cam type quick attach and they are a PIA.

    I bought one of the original versions a few months ago and haven't mounted it yet but I'm so glad to see that slow mo in the first part of your vid. I was wondering if my Magnetospeed would survive the recoil of my .50 mounted on your unit. Now I wont be so worried to try it! Thanks

    Nice, if we have the older version 3d printed set up can we by just the new machined pieces?

    what is the best way to confirm the Magnetospeed is parallel with the bore of the rifle?

    • @wiserprecision
      @wiserprecision  Год назад +1

      Using a cleaning rod or dowel in your barrel and the Magnetospeed spacer on top bayonet is probably your best route. To be honest though, I usually just eyeball it with the barrel. Even if you are off by a whole degree of cant (which is quite a lot and very visible with your naked eye) that only equates roughly 0.2% deviation.

  • @tc6818

    I'm interested in just the portion that attaches the Magnetospeed to the tube. I don't see an option to purchase just that piece on your website.

    Very cool but people don't understand the real reason you get a shift of point of impact with the magneto speed. It has very little to do with barrel harmonics and more to do with the law of aerodynamics. The higher your BC on a specific cartridge the more your point of impact will deviate. The bullet flies so close to it the bayonet it creates lift.

    • @ShastaBean
      @ShastaBean Год назад

      any videos or real-data that demonstrate this? Certainly attaching something to barrel affects harmonics, we all know this. So it's perhaps not an either/or, but maybe both?
      So your contention of has "more to do with..." would be good to see actual testing, and not just hypothesis or in your case, stated as "fact".
      It would be easy for me to turn my Magneto around, facing bayonet towards me rather than in bullet-path, and see if the 2.5" vertical POI shift I saw with the Magneto attached to my .223 is because of harmonics, or your assertion of lift.

    How do you mount it if you don't have a picatinny or ARCA rail?
    Say for a standard Remington 700.

    • @wiserprecision
      @wiserprecision  Год назад

      Best option is to install a pic rail. We actually have an ultralight rail DIY install kit (not on the website yet) you can reach out to us if that interests you and we can put an order together for you. Alternatively, there are a couple swivel stud to picatinny rail adapters available that get the job done, definitely not as rigid as a real rail, but I've used them in the past and several customers have as well with good success.

    With all due respect I feel like the adjustable knob for clamping it to the rail is a step back from the QD levers. Now you don't have a consistent clamping pressure and it's not as strong and more likely to get loose I compare it to the lock knob on the Harris bipods there's no way to get the bipod locked with that dinky little knob that's why everyone buys the lever to replace it, you achieved it in the video but you did wrench on it pretty hard. I could be wrong about all this, maybe there's something in there I'm not seeing. I feel like everything else is a drastic improvement though. I will more than likely buy one.

      If you had to deal with the old system, you would absolutely love the new. The older angle adjustment system is a HUGE headache to adjust for different rifles.

    This is probably why you didn't sell enough of these to keep making them. People came to me asking how to attach the Magneto Speed to the end mount on the extension tube, and you don't even bother to show what I think is the most difficult part of using your product! If you had shown it better in your instructions, it might have helped you improve your sales of this product.
