- transport yourself to a by-gone, yet beloved era...
my belated christmas gift AND new year's celebration to you:
the second of the four original airline tapes, this one is dated January 28th, 1970. this tape was used on southern airlines and also features tracks from new dimensions one and two, plus revelle. this tape has some noticeable quirks, such as the beginning tracks on both sides start in the middle of a song, very minor dropouts, and side B is extremely tinny; i have decreased the treble and increased the bass but the issue still persists. anyway, i hope you enjoy!

I'm 60 - this used to be considered less than par, here in the 21st century muzak and television show themes beat anything being produced today. Unreal how fast creativity is degrading. Thanks for posting these; great memories.
I agree, and I'm 63 and still love this. I used to work in an office that played Muzak, and it was very relaxing.
I’m in my 60’s now- and this is every bank, grocery store, train/ bus station, elevator, cheap hotel lobby in the 70’s! Wow. My new nightly fall asleep soundtrack. (Still works now just as well as then lol)
You said it all!
I'm just trying to figure why I couldn't stand it then, but can't get enough now...
@@ericFJ I wasn't "hip" to like instrumentals when we were young (but I did) Riding elevators just to hear that magical stuff. I went as far as to get an SCA receiver so I could listen at home. I had stodgy older parents who didn't like rock so much, so they liked this stuff. When you listen to the 'crap" you are subjected to these days in a restaurant, store, etc, this sounds pretty good. When FM one was unveiled (Muzak caved in to the craze of Foreground Music) I hated it. Noisy places, are even noisier, bring it back!...Environmental is still broadcast on MOOD media, but the playlist is stale. I never even hear it anymore, anywhere.
Right I know, I'm 63 and I use this for a pleasant afternoon nap. So wonderful and relaxing.
I was born in 1961, my music of choice. I don't understand any of the music after the 70s. I listen to this type of music in my car and home, I nap to this. This is such a breath for fresh air and a great escape from today's craziness.
Give 'Beautiful Instrumentals' a go. Melody instrumental music online. No ads, no news, no talk just easy listening music 24/7 from the great orchestras of the past. Actually, it is better than Muzak because that was a very structured sound.
And the Akai 4000 looking good too! Loved those clunky solid controls 😁. Mine still works nearly 50 years since I bought it!
I have a Harmon Kardon 430 from 1975 that I play music ( like this ) through and sounds great 👍 to your Reel to Reel 🎵🎧
This utterly fails at Muzak's stated purpose. Muzak was supposed to be so bland that it would fade into the background and trick workers into being more productive. These songs are so good -- and the tunes so recognizable -- that I can't concentrate on my work! Every ten minutes, I have to stop what I'm supposed to be doing to figure out what that song is, rewind it, and bask in the smoothness of these musical geniuses😂
Except if this was for airline passengers and not workers, they may have intentionally made the music more enjoyable and not just for the background.
@@SyncopateTheShot Nah, Muzak was usually pretty lazy when it came to this sort of thing. For example, they always talked about how their music was "intentionally arranged to produce a predetermined psychological effect" in their promotional material, but in reality, arrangers could do whatever they wanted to. They probably just picked random tracks from their library to make these airline tapes
Perhaps. Although the stimulus progression was a real thing.
Agreed! These tracks are too good to be called Muzak. 😮
It would have sounded good on the Concorde with caviar and Dom. Please prepare for take off.
Why this music 🎶🎵 🎼 Be put on 💿 CD’s for everyone to enjoy and pass it on to other generations to learn and educated,This is so Refreshing,I grew up in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 my father was a big fan of Lawrence welk,And to this day still love every Instrumental composition I hear 👂.
Отличная музыка, спокойная и приятная, исключительно для дачи😅!
Awww...The Sounds of Civilization...❤
CIVILIZATION, you got that one right, not perfect but not loney tunes, like today.
22B is Spanky and Our Gang’s “Sunday Mornin’”
Thanks for this wonderfull compilation. This sounds bring me back to better times and wonderfull memories.

отлично!!!
Gwen Stefani used the melody from "If I Were a Rich Man" at 1:33:31 for her tune "Rich Girl".
Anyone know who actually made all these arrangements?
It was all a variety of jazz/easy listening musicians; talents such as Phil bodner, Sid Bass, Frank Hunter, Mel Davis, Dick Hyman, Earl Sheldon, Nick Perito, warren Covington, and many others did arrangements and conducting for Muzak recording Sessions as during the age of Rock and Roll couldn’t find much work besides work for Muzak
Thought only grocerie stores did this.
I was born in 1970
we forgive you.. tee-hee :)
14:14 unknown 7A seems to be from a 1967-68 TV serie like in the Avengers style or something like that, not continental but English ore maybe American.
6:43 song created and published in 1966 by MICHEL FUGAIN : Je n'aurai pas le temps :

То, что здесь обозначено как "yes, my darling daughter" на самом деле украинская песня "Ехал казак за Дунай"
It is killing me it's so awful. But brings back memories of a better world.
Is it wrong for me to want to add Sid Vicious in starting at the 1:23:12 mark?
