Hyoyeon was the smartest in her choreo choice to me, she decided to put herself out there instead of choosing a typical pop or hip hop genre, she took advantage of the program to show another side of herself that she couldn't bring out considering SNSD dance routines! The big issue of being an idol is that you can't prove your skills outside the group but shows like "Hit the stage" show that Hyoyeon can nail any dance routine !
I guess people who havent seen the Chicago musical or movie wouldn't understand the background to this musical number or how it would tie into the theme of "devil". But the story behind this song is about women in prison talking about how and why they killed their husbands, etc., so it does fit with the theme of "devil". People need to understand that just because the theme is "devil" that it doesn't have to be a literal description of the word. Just because it's not mainstream dance like all the other contestants, doesn't mean that it's bad. People need to learn to appreciate all different types of dance. And it's rare to find someone who can pull off all different types of dance genre. And that's what Hyoyeon has shown throughout this whole show. She explores and portrays different dance genres, not just the ones she's confident it. Sorry. I just see a lot of hate towards Hyoyeon and it pisses me off cuz they think they know better. I'm not saying that I know better, but I know how to appreciate people's effort and hard work. So just cuz you don't like it, doesn't mean you should hate on it. Rant over.
Lucia Sohn well to be fair, her performance does pale to the actual broadway musical...I've had the oppurtunity to watch wicked les mis and Chicago in march and I still remember it vividly!!!
Hyoyeon chooses to portrait the devil differently than any competitors. The devil can be sexy, seductive yet classy at the same time, and she nailed it. Personally, I'm so proud of this girl, this dance is not her usual style of dancing and it isn't mainstream either. But she chooses anyways, because she wants to do what she loves the most, dancing. She's a versatile dancer and a living legend that deserves to be called 'The Dancing Queen'.
i loved this performance the dancers and her did this really well. it was very classy. and for those who dont know, Cell Block Tango is actually about 6 prisoners who murdered they're former lovers for various reasons, which are the sounds that they make i the beginning. those are the sounds that were made when they killed them. Y'all should really see the original Cell Block Tango from the musical Chicago. its really awesome and it captures your attention. I agree her expression were not as strong but yes she did fit the concept. This is coming from a BlackJack so yeah no bias here.
Yes I think hyoyeon lacked something in this performance but I love that she challenged herself and did something different other than her slayage at hip hop. She was creative in this performance and concept. The only people bashing how it's not devil enough obviously can't think bigger or don't know musical Chicago.
I love the original and honestly I think her facial expressions was the most lacking. she didn't have the murderous feel like in the original or the whole you should have been in my shoes when I did it vibe. I am glad she challenged herself
I don't really care about the result, the fact that we finally got to see her dancing again is more than enough for me. and she said she's not really good with this kind of dance but she wanted to try, she worked hard, and she satisfied with her performance. she's not my bias but don't you see how she's so beautiful when she dances? I wish the performance could be longer than freaking 2 minutes ;;;;;
Weak? I'm not sure, even me who don't know anything about tango can see how hard it is. Maybe you used to see her dancing to popping and any hip hop dance? But she didn't do modern dance doesn't mean it's a weak performance...
You saw her tango before 2012 was good, it is the Point! Many years ago she was good at dancing. But now a day, the other artists are all trained well, they are already surpassed her. That is also meant, she is too old at the dancing competition.
I am both a fan of Hyoyeon and of broadway musicals, and let me tell you this: out of all the performances for this particular theme, THIS CONCEPT IS THE TRUE FACE OF EVIL. Cell Block Tango is a song from the broadway musical Chicago. It's about 6 women who are in jail for murdering their husbands. They all love their husbands. But as we all know, there are little devils inside each and everyone of us. And when their husbands drove them to the edge, they surrendered to their 'devils' and killed their lovers. The song is amazing. The idea is remarkable. The execution is out of this world. The Queen of Fresh Concepts Hyoyeon is a legend and no one can ever compare 👑👑👑
I think the main reason why she's getting most hate is simply because she's from the biggest KPOP girl group and other (immature ones) fans don't want to see her rise.
For those who think that Hyoyeon didn't fit the devil's concept: "Cell Block Tango" is a song from the 1975 musical Chicago, with music composed by John Kander and lyrics written by Fred Ebb. It features the female criminals singing about how they ended up in jail. These 6 female criminals are singing about the way how they murdered their lovers. Still? Didn't understand- find the lyrics. Hyoyeon just went to a more logical way than others. She is just clever. It hurts me how people talk about her here, when thousands of her fans are watching this perfomance. I'm one of her fans too and I admire her so much!❤️ Fighting Hyoyeon, Our one and only Dancing queen!😍
People are here telling everyone like she did weak but don't you think it's just because she was different? While everyone danced with modern like choreo she went and performed with a tango. Just because tango does not look modern doesn't mean its bad. Her expressions were spot on and she did well.
Some of you are commenting that it's not Hyo's Style. That it does not fits the concept. I think you're just very use to Hyo's cool concept that's why some of you saying that it's a weak performance. You should know that Dancing Queen Hyo can dance any concept not just cool, hiphop or break dance cause' that is so common. For me, whatever you said and the result is she's forever the Dancing Queen. Remember guys "EXPECT the UNEXPECTED"
exactlly, ppl actually fail appreciate the tango elements of this dance. also quite ignorant to cage the devils theme into some exorcism or goth scenarios. Hyo and her team made a great interpretation of the voluptuous pleasures that are lust.
She just shows how versatile of a dancer she is. A total professional on any field. That's her strength and she's just using that advantage to showcase a much more different performance, exploring different genres, than just a hip-hop dance stage.
I'm sorry but I don't think so.I'm a sone and really huge fan of Hyo but this performence didn't fit the concept and was just boring. I'm not this type of person that will say something's ok just because I like star that did it. I'm a little bit disappointed because NCT's rookie, Ten, did a lot better than Dancing Queen Hyoyeon.Just my opinion, don't start wars.
this style is not the style she used to dance because she want to challenge herself,if she choose hip pop....she'll be the winner. But ranking is not important because improving and challenging oneself is the crucial part
*I love it. We all know how good her hiphop dance moves are but she completely skipped that and used a harder version of tango to represent the theme of Devil instead. She chose a much classier version and representation of her interpretation of the theme.* *Obviously, she doesn't care about the scoring system or the conventional expectations for eye-popping or attention-seeking moves or techniques. She is more interested in delivering new conceptualizations of the word "Devil" and I see it - Devil doesn't have to be ugly and crude. Devil can be sophisticated and cruel too.*
The lyrics of the song Cell Block Tango is pretty dark tho so that's why she chose it and she did tango before on DWTS. It had things like killing husbands and shit lol
*Exactly. Most of the critics against Hyo dismisses the track as an ordinary musical song without understanding Hyoyeon's choice of song. Also her choices of red, black, cages, tango all connect to a sophisticated version of Devil.*
Damn right. i just wish she had her solo that was similar to the original one where she portrays the killing of her husband. That would make it seem more diabolic. Nevertheless, this was a great performance. For her to deviate from the expected and choose Tango is just wonderful. It goes to show how versatile our queen is.
Idk why, but every time I see a woman performance people in the comments start to become judgemental and pissed off, but when a male dancer comes on (no hate) but seriously come on stop the madness I think Hyoyeon is a brilliant dancer so please stop running her over with the bullshit
From a Dancers Perspective This is on a whole new level !!!! , The dance was very artistic and you have to use your imagination to able to grasp the concept in your own way, understanding that majority of everyone here doesnt dance they are entitled to there own opinions lol Fighting hyoyeon !!
She's not just a performer, she is a smart performer, she flexible and she can do any dancing style. She is one proof why SNSD is the one and only nation's Girl Group. A brilliant combination of dance, vocals and visuals.
i actcually think this was the best performance under the devil concept. hyoyeon surely knew what she was doing. but i think most people don't even know what cell block tango is about so they don't see the devil-ish message. also i think hyoyeon suits any kind of dance, her charisma is amazing and she dances smoothly. a real talent on the dance floor.
ofc..from very beginning she is different...you'll enjoy her next performance for sure....and ofc the performance will still different from other contestant...
now this is thinking outside the box!! not your typical bloody, angry, dark concept of "devil". not all "devils" are hardcore and rough. but this kind of devil wears prada! classy villainous concept! almost all concept were dark and demonic but this is very liiit!! but let's all face the fact that not all of us appreciate "thinking out of the box". we can't blame them cause being mainstream is now a mainstream and Hyo doesn't do mainstream. ^_^
honestly as a dancer this is the one that has stood out the most to me out of all the performances so far besides ukwon from block b's performance. yall are saying its underwhelming and doesnt show off her skills but this is a nice change from all the hip hop performances and also a very hard one to pull off
Also, I love how intently Momo was watching Hyoyeon's performance. You can tell she admires Hyo which makes me happy because the two are my ultimate biases. 😍
MC asked her whether she was regret not winning and HYOYEON said "NO" She said that "She is better at other dances but she wants try Dance sport" Anyway, she is still the best in SONE's heart! Sone keeps voting!
It was done 3 years ago and still I think her performance is still far the best. I like the way she portrayed the devil. The concept of devil could be view by any prospects as a character or a trait. And then she chose to be a Femme Fatale and ofc it suits her ~
Objectively speaking, she could have been more powerful during Velma's chorus because that was the chorus that really kicked off Cell Block Tango. But that's just me being nitpicky because I loved how Hyoyeon decided to use Hit the Stage as her experimentation ground. What I noticed about Hyoyeon is that she is one to explore, even in her solo career, and that's what makes her a standout for me.
also if the choreography gave hyoyeon the dominant role the whole time then it would have given the impression of “Devils” which is the theme of the episode
I really really like this concept, and she executed it really well :) it's just that because her backup dancers are probably trained in this more than she was, she didn't stand out as much as she could have, which is a pity >.< but she still slayed
+Mikhail K-Popper oh sorry, I meant trained in tango, which is the dance style used here. Hyoyeon's been trained in mostly hip hop and jazz if i'm not wrong.
Yup she learned it only like 4 years ago during another dance sport program. She said herself this isn't what she excels in compared to like popping, but she wanted to choose something different from the others.
Before debut she actually already dancing jazz since her childhood days. And SM really gives her an opportunity to do what she likes to enhance her dancing skills, despite of her busy schedule if there is an opportunity to join in an amateur dancing contest with a different genre, SM let her join. When SNSD is still a rookie she brought the whole team to a dancing contest to enhance their skills in dancing. And now she's doing it solo and bringing her perfect shot and she introduce the true art of dance in TV. That's why she is the Top 1 dancer in SM until now, and not only SM but in South Korea, the dancing queen. ❤
Hyoyeon is known for variety and even if she has been training hip hop and popping&locking since she was 11 years old, after 9 years in the game she can come out on a dance competition and have the balls to perform TANGO (something she only practiced twice for DWTS 4 years ago) and actually display some technique in it and do great. That shows how special of a dancer she is. She takes challenges and keeps things interesting instead of doing the same dance styles she was trained in like the others in the competition did
I give her MASSIVE props for how unique this concept was executed! I think the score she got was fair in comparison, but as for the unique factor, she's number one in my eyes.
I come back to this perfomance every once in a while bcs it's just soooooo good. Everyone thought she would do hip hop cause sis is an expert at it but she was like nah I'm gonna go with tango. Versatility at it's peak, make room for the queen.
rather than dance her speciality, she tried something new with this concept. thats what im proud of. she's challenging herself. if you might not know, hyo specialities are popping, locking, and all those dance that requires lot of muscle works. she only tried dance sport professionally on tv with dancing with the stars, compared to then. she improved a lot. so, to get 152 out of 200 points by doing something new, its something to be proud of. Hyo also said that she didnt dissapointed cos she knew she's better at other dance than this, and she feels satisfied with the score. Hyo we're proud of you too.
To everyone saying that "this doesn't fit the Devils theme", then what does the Joker in Hoya and U-Kwon performances have to do with the theme??? If it is because he is a murderer, sociopath, etc... Then Hyoyeon is right because this song is from the musical Chicago, which is about women who committed murder, especially this song in which they tell how they kill their partners... And on the style of dancing... Everyone was doing some style of HipHop, then what is wrong in doing a different style??? All of this idols can do HipHop, but not all of them can do ballroom, Hyo was smart enough to show them that there is more in dance than HipHop, I hope that as the show goes on the idols can show more variety of dancing, and not only the some old... Hyoyeon slay!!! All the idols on Hit The Stage Slay!!! HTS Fighting!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 Ps: Not hating on the idols, but on the stupid people making stupid comments 😒
As a ballroom dancer for 6 years, I can tell that she did good. I've let my mom watch it and she is also impressed because I told her that Hyo id not on the profession of dancesport. Good job Hyo!
She tends to put on performances with deep meaning and portray them a different way. That’s what the audience sometimes doesn’t understand. Most of them probably haven’t seen The Chicago Musical so they don’t understand the meaning behind the style, props, or music. It’s not their fault that they didn’t understand. Either way she did an amazing job
The satisfied look of bae yoonjung is enough for me to be happy. Also, hyoyeon tried to do something she learned a few years ago, away from her comfort zone so i hope people will see that instead of saying her stage was boring. :)
Those people who pointed out that this wasn't following the concept of the dance haven't watched the musical play Chicago, or worse can't understand the lyrics of the song. (The start said that this song was about the 6 murders...) The story wasn't complete (of course it's a theatre play, duh) so they should research more before judging and commenting. 😂😂
The fact she used this song from Chicago which cane out in the 2000's which probably not many Koreans know of, and she challenged herself like that straying away from the cute image to the tough femme fatale goes to show how amazing of a dancer she is.
I really loved this performance. I know she can do better but this is the concept what she has given. Imo She did her best and as a SONE I'm so proud of her. Slay my Dancing Queen.
actually this performance was more of an elegant and classy approach compared to a hardcore one. I applaud Hyoyeon for stepping out of her comfort zone and doing something she is not really familiar with. I love how she is trying to become different and unique and that's what matters most than the number 1 spot. :)
so classy! goosebumps.. as expected from the best kpop dancer and legend sunbae. Her peformance and movements slayed me hard. my eyes only on her..indeed she is on top!
What I love about Hyo's performance is how she set her face. Even when she was just standing still, she let her emotions play out on her face and it kept the audience connected to her.
honestly, idec who wins or gets the most points or whatever. from the perspective of a lover of art and dancer, im just happy to be witnessing inspired performances from super talented people. for that, i've been mostly watching these like a person walking through an art gallery, finding strengths and weaknesses but not so much treating it like a competition. for hyo, i love that she picked a different genre for this. i love that it felt like a scene straight out of a musical, and her body moved so beautifully.
Honestly, it wouldn't have much impact for some people but this gets full points from me. I wonder how many people saying they were disappointed actually know how hard tango could be
of course THE dancing queen is the different one if not she would have been just like your faves... tango is really hard and you need a lot of skill to perform somthing like this. Be thankful she didn't choose her speciality for the first ep, she would have put your faves to shame.
I'm glad she decided to do something other than hiphop. Because then people would complain that she can only do one concept. She did great! She has more to bring to the table I'm sure of it.
To me, it is smart for Hyoyeon to perform with this kind of style. I mean, we are all used to her hip-hop, pop locking prowess but she took this performace to show that she's a versatile dancer. i actually love the concept behind wherein it's not a literal depiction of "devils" when in fact, the cell block tango, is somewhat a depiction of "devils in real life" like how Hyoyeon portrayed it...
2 months later and Im still very impressed. Its really very classy and a new perspective of the devil. Tango isnt the easiest dance. It may look so but mastering it isnt easy. She did well ^_^
I think you're all missing the point, Hyoyeon doesn't care about showing what she does best. She chose something that she could challenge herself in, you all know how hard it is to please yourself even when you fully feel confident in something you do well in. For Hyoyeon it's pop, she choose something she lacks in the most and wanted to improve. She shows the world she's a professional world class dancer that could dance to all different genres of dancing. I've been learning the tango for the past two years and seriously, I can't even do what she can do. {It feels weird not to have chemistry with my partner so I keep switching.} But she did something that challenges herself, not something to please the audiences.
I saw that some commenters here said that they don't preferred Hyoyeon's performance because this style of dancing does not fit her. But hey, how she showcased the performance was really fantastic. Hyoyeon used to dance hiphop then now she danced some dance sport not only she danced but she slayed it. It also made me wow because not all dancers of tango, cha2, etc can dance hiphop and not all hiphop dancers can dance tango, etc. Just thinking of that makes her one of a kind. Good job Hyoyeon! 😍
If you're going to comment about the concept....how about you do some research on what the term devil is and what personality traits the devil exhibits. AND THEN --- binge on musicals...specifically Chicago, because my children, this is a spot on performance with a spot on theme pertaining to the devil. *rolls eyes at the twelve year olds who don't watch musicals because they're too busy mainstreaming their lives away* oops- I've said too much. *yeets*
WOW!!! It may not be Hyoyeon's style but we can't deny the fact that she really did it very well... WHAT AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE HYO! So proud of you...
Hyo was smart on choosing this style as an opener, you shouldn't show all your cards in the beginning. Through various dance styles, she will show her strengths 💖
I don't follow GG or know anything about Hyoyeon but if you've never seen the movie Chicago then you wouldn't understand the performance. I totally understand why she would choose this as her performance bc this song is about 6 women prisoners who killed their lovers without hesitation or remorse...coming from someone who knows nothing about Hyoyeon...I'm highly impressed that she decided to take this route 👏👏👏
In my opinion hyo brings freshness to this show by picking different types of dance and owning it which is quite hard to execute. That on it's own deserves applaud.
Is Cell block tango taken from the same Chicago of Tiffany's upcoming play? If it's so, isn't it amazing that Hyoyeon chose a song from the play, and then 5 years later, which is 2021, Tiffany is going to perform as a protagonist of it too?
gotta say so far SM artist is very theatrical and i love it. dancing isnt just about expressing but a way of telling story. like how singer write song to tell story, same goes with dancer.
Momo is watching like. "Oh I need to see this and learn something from unnie.." Cell block tango.. You know what they do to guya like us in prison.. Hyoyeon is fire, fuego!
I don't understand why so many people are complaining about this performance - to me, Hyo's performance was one of the best as it stood out from the others, being a totally different style. I think a lot of people (including the studio voters) aren't understanding the concept - the song is from the musical Chicago and focuses on 6 women who murdered their husbands. Do y'all seriously think murder isn't devilish enough?? It fits the theme and she performed it VERY well for someone who's style isn't usually like this. Hyoyeon fighting!!!
Out of all the choreography . interms of complexity and difficulty . Hyoyeon has it . She could have an option to dance hiphop/edm/Vogue . But She picked the genre that is different from others and that kind of dance is not easy to pull off ..
hiphop dance is cool, but hyo's performance is so classy and the way she speaks without words, only using her facial emotion, makes her more classy. she's the real dancing queen for me
This is for those who complain about this dance being too "weak" or "slow". This is not hip hop. This is not street dance. They are dancing tango. Tango is emotionally strong and sensual dance genre. It's not for everyone, you don't have to like it! But don't say anything stupid if you don't know that much about dancing, you will just embarrass yourself. It's amazing that a street dancer like Hyoyeon can pull this kind of performance off! Oh, and if you think that MURDER is not good enough for the concept of devil... are you for real?
I'm not biased but as a dancer, I called this as a "Masterpiece"! basically these kids commenting & saying that this is weak but they really don't know what is the ART. This is the ART of a dancer. If she perform this like Britain's Got Talent I do believe this deserved a golden buzzer. damn!!
Her dance! This is not joke! I've notice that SM artists in this program are focus on dancing and show there concept through choreography instead of acting. That make it different!!
Whatta smart choice!!! The devil can be gorgeous seductive guilty yet has a motive consisting of their own vision of justice... "They had it coming ".... Loved every second of this performance!! Versatile Queen!!
For those who think Hyo didnt deliver the 'Devil' theme well ..you guys might wanna check what is cell block tango is all about . Hyo's process of learning is more meaningful bc we all know she already good, she just wanna keep learning more
i'm just so happy about Hyoyeon's improvement in tango compared to her first try in Dancing with the Stars. you can really see that she didn't leave or forget her dance sport after DWTS
finally hyoyeon got some spotlight... through all these years sm finally put her in a transcendental show... She's not even has to demonstrate something because we all know what she's capable of. she's one of my favorites of all time. I'm rooting for her taemin hoya and ten!
Hyoyeon was the smartest in her choreo choice to me, she decided to put herself out there instead of choosing a typical pop or hip hop genre, she took advantage of the program to show another side of herself that she couldn't bring out considering SNSD dance routines! The big issue of being an idol is that you can't prove your skills outside the group but shows like "Hit the stage" show that Hyoyeon can nail any dance routine !
totally
i've watched her in dancing with the stars..and she's sooo good..totally..
She even said that she wants to destroys her Snsd image in this show. Hyoyeon is tough! af
yeah I was really surprised but happy as well that she chose to do something different 😊
yeah!!

Kiwi Asian I was in my schools production of Chicago this number was so fun
Kiwi Asian So true
I love Chicago! I was so happy to see her do this.
How come people hate her its a marvelous performance without a hole😭😭

Devil !!! Music and Hyoyeon ....Perfection !!
I feel like I was in Musical theater...the dance and music are so intense....
Yes I think hyoyeon lacked something in this performance but I love that she challenged herself and did something different other than her slayage at hip hop. She was creative in this performance and concept. The only people bashing how it's not devil enough obviously can't think bigger or don't know musical Chicago.
Hyoyeon is flawless..and the performance was Perfect !!!
Hyoyeon Perfect and flawless !!!
I love the original and honestly I think her facial expressions was the most lacking. she didn't have the murderous feel like in the original or the whole you should have been in my shoes when I did it vibe. I am glad she challenged herself

its about a wife killin her husband right?still for me its a weak performance from hyoyeon...she is known as queen of kpop dancer...but this
Weak? I'm not sure, even me who don't know anything about tango can see how hard it is. Maybe you used to see her dancing to popping and any hip hop dance? But she didn't do modern dance doesn't mean it's a weak performance...

i saw her did a tango before in 2012 if am not mistaken..n thats better than this

Chicago is my favourite musical! I died when I found out about this!!
I’m always a sucker for stories behind choreos and THIS ONE WAS GREATTT
Leave it to Hyoyeon dancing Queen to do something out of the ordinary and have people hating her for it. Fighting BabyHyo
I think the main reason why she's getting most hate is simply because she's from the biggest KPOP girl group and other (immature ones) fans don't want to see her rise.

Agreed
Exactly
yeeesss! ❤
totally argeed !! She did something different, and look at her dance steps and emotion. That's great.
Nope it was bad worse than momo's cell block tango didn't deserve this she could ve do better

exactlly, ppl actually fail appreciate the tango elements of this dance. also quite ignorant to cage the devils theme into some exorcism or goth scenarios.
You're right. She did femme fatale and it's a devil concept. It's not like the concept is a Halloween party.
But ranking is not important because improving and challenging oneself is the crucial part
actually she used to dance tango on an other show...
+Elin Vliege but she started off with hip hop so she has more experience with hip hop
🙄
I agree with you! Queen Hyo is the best when it comes to hiphop. 😊
She slay the stage with that Tango move I love her.
miriam suen eh.. you should've said "if she choose hip hop she would've BEEN BETTER" 'cause... ain't nobody knows who the winner would've been! xD
*I love it. We all know how good her hiphop dance moves are but she completely skipped that and used a harder version of tango to represent the theme of Devil instead. She chose a much classier version and representation of her interpretation of the theme.*
*Obviously, she doesn't care about the scoring system or the conventional expectations for eye-popping or attention-seeking moves or techniques.
+Treadstone Operative She actually presented her concept well and relating to the main theme which is good, and her props are amazing too lol
Damn right.
i just wish she had her solo that was similar to the original one where she portrays the killing of her husband. That would make it seem more diabolic. Nevertheless, this was a great performance. For her to deviate from the expected and choose Tango is just wonderful. It goes to show how versatile our queen is.
vivien lee *If Hyoyeon did exactly that, the show would have gotten into trouble with the Korean censorship board. LOL*
아우.. 효연 너무 좋다좋아 .. 미치겠다 정말ㅜ 너무 멋있어..ㅜㅜ
22222222ㅜㅜㅜㅜㅠ
와.. 효연 못하는 장르가 뭐냐
Idk why, but every time I see a woman performance people in the comments start to become judgemental and pissed off, but when a male dancer comes on (no hate) but seriously come on stop the madness I think Hyoyeon is a brilliant dancer so please stop running her over with the bullshit
she can dance
Preach
From a Dancers Perspective This is on a whole new level !!!! , The dance was very artistic and you have to use your imagination to able to grasp the concept in your own way, understanding that majority of everyone here doesnt dance they are entitled to there own opinions lol
Fighting hyoyeon !!
She's not just a performer, she is a smart performer, she flexible and she can do any dancing style. She is one proof why SNSD is the one and only nation's Girl Group. A brilliant combination of dance, vocals and visuals.
sure I want hyo to win but I care more that she can shine and do she is good at .. and she slays
*what she is good at
I don't know yet
+ame ib it was taemin

7) ---Bora (SISTAR) - 148---
8) ---Momo (TWICE) - 144---
+Follower1985 thanks for telling this 😀👍
i actcually think this was the best performance under the devil concept. hyoyeon surely knew what she was doing. but i think most people don't even know what cell block tango is about so they don't see the devil-ish message. also i think hyoyeon suits any kind of dance, her charisma is amazing and she dances smoothly. a real talent on the dance floor.
이거 첨에 나왔을 때 네티즌들 셀블락탱고에 남자가 왠 말이냐며 물고 뜯었었는데 나는 이 부분만 돌려보기했다는...ㅜ 춤 표정 완벽스...ㅜ
she's different from the others. I likeeee itttt
+1
So do i...
ofc..from very beginning she is different...you'll enjoy her next performance for sure....and ofc the performance will still different from other contestant...
she lost by 6 points, but this is so LIIITTTTTTTTTT 🔥🔥🔥 I can imagine my body creaking and breaking bones if i dance this, Daebak Hyoyeonnieeee 😍😍
What place did she get?
3
+Ziomi vélez pretty sure she got 2nd
who is no1?
+Ziomi vélez who got the highest score? and 2nd?
하 진짜 효연 언니는 소화 못 하는 장르가 없는 거 같아🤦♀️
now this is thinking outside the box!! not your typical bloody, angry, dark concept of "devil". not all "devils" are hardcore and rough. but this kind of devil wears prada! classy villainous concept! almost all concept were dark and demonic but this is very liiit!! but let's all face the fact that not all of us appreciate "thinking out of the box". we can't blame them cause being mainstream is now a mainstream and Hyo doesn't do mainstream. ^_^
You deserve a fucking trophy yesss " but this kind of devil wears prada!" hope more people would see this
Preach!
임한올에서 여기까지 온 사람은 아직 읎나보군 히힛
이유진 저요..🤚🏻

She did something different, she wasnt predictable. She is the classy and sexy devil. Nothing new, tho. She is the queen.
honestly as a dancer this is the one that has stood out the most to me out of all the performances so far besides ukwon from block b's performance. yall are saying its underwhelming and doesnt show off her skills but this is a nice change from all the hip hop performances and also a very hard one to pull off
Also, I love how intently Momo was watching Hyoyeon's performance. You can tell she admires Hyo which makes me happy because the two are my ultimate biases. 😍
She's really an SNSD fan.
I'm sorry but for me this was the best performance of the night, i still can't belive she didn't win
SAME
Who wins ??
I agree. This is the true art of dancing.
MC asked her whether she was regret not winning and HYOYEON said "NO"
She said that "She is better at other dances but she wants try Dance sport"
Anyway, she is still the best in SONE's heart!
Sone keeps voting!
한국 어디있냐! 이 대박영상에!
How were they more trained in this routine? They learned it at the same time
+Mikhail K-Popper oh sorry, I meant trained in tango, which is the dance style used here.
It's awesome to know that years later, her member played as Roxie in the Chicago musical!
Is this from the Chicago musical? :O i love the movie.
yep. cell block tango
YES YES YES YES!!!
yes. it's the cell block tango. proud to say i recognized it as soon as i saw the set up
from the second i heard the song, i knew this was going to be amazing! #queens
that moment when my gay ass recognized the song so easily bc i listen to musicals on spotify XD
The true art of dancing. Hyoyeon is superb! She brought the musical theater show.
Woa! Hyoyeon 💕 Look at Momo's face. 😍 Her dream is complete.. To watch her idol dancing infront of her
To everyone saying that "this doesn't fit the Devils theme", then what does the Joker in Hoya and U-Kwon performances have to do with the theme???
Ps: Not hating on the idols, but on the stupid people making stupid comments 😒
As a ballroom dancer for 6 years, I can tell that she did good. I've let my mom watch it and she is also impressed because I told her that Hyo id not on the profession of dancesport. Good job Hyo!
Never get sick of this performance💓
효연 언니 짱!!!!
AMAZING! Dancing queen
Jihyo's reaction would be the number one example for those people who didn't knew what dancing about.
Some people saying her performance was weak, but you guys are definately clueless to the difficulty on the execution of some of her movements lmao
The fact she used this song from Chicago which cane out in the 2000's which probably not many Koreans know of, and she challenged herself like that straying away from the cute image to the tough femme fatale goes to show how amazing of a dancer she is.
Who would have thought Hyoyeon would be opted to do tango for the Devils concept wow But somehow she managed to rock it! Femme fatale Hyoyeon
저런 효연이를 소녀시대때 막대사탕이나 쥐어주고잇엇으니;;
동강
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅠㅠ
Oh god, i was slayed, came back to life and slayed again already 5 secs in !!
honestly, idec who wins or gets the most points or whatever. from the perspective of a lover of art and dancer, im just happy to be witnessing inspired performances from super talented people. for that, i've been mostly watching these like a person walking through an art gallery, finding strengths and weaknesses but not so much treating it like a competition. for hyo, i love that she picked a different genre for this. i love that it felt like a scene straight out of a musical, and her body moved so beautifully.
She’s the National dancing queen yall
the performance gives a feeling of elegance. The emotion wow .... just so wow.
Honestly, it wouldn't have much impact for some people but this gets full points from me. I wonder how many people saying they were disappointed actually know how hard tango could be
Suga and Salt true.
of course THE dancing queen is the different one if not she would have been just like your faves... tango is really hard and you need a lot of skill to perform somthing like this. Be thankful she didn't choose her speciality for the first ep, she would have put your faves to shame.
her expression 😍😍😍 amazing
She score the highest among the female contestants. Expectedly, Queen of Dancing!!
{It feels weird not to have chemistry with my partner so I keep switching.} But she did something that challenges herself, not something to please the audiences.
hyo is just amazing. she can dance a lot of dance styles with is very impressive. she doesn't have dance hard hitting choreos to look good
I saw that some commenters here said that they don't preferred Hyoyeon's performance because this style of dancing does not fit her.
*yeets*
I had goosebumps all over my body
I'm so glad Hyo finally gets her time to shine and show off her outstanding dancing skills!
But She picked the genre that is different from others and that kind of dance is not easy to pull off ..
hiphop dance is cool, but hyo's performance is so classy and the way she speaks without words, only using her facial emotion, makes her more classy. she's the real dancing queen for me
I don't think the audience realizes how iconic this is👀👀
This is for those who complain about this dance being too "weak" or "slow".
Came back because Tiffany is in Chicago
I'm not biased but as a dancer, I called this as a "Masterpiece"! basically these kids commenting & saying that this is weak but they really don't know what is the ART. This is the ART of a dancer. If she perform this like Britain's Got Talent I do believe this deserved a golden buzzer. damn!!
-nosebleed- how can she
from popping powerful style to sexy tango style
she's really the Queen
Hyo's process of learning is more meaningful bc we all know she already good, she just wanna keep learning more
I thought for Hyoyeon: it was good for her to attended dancing with star in second season 👌🏻
-
the so-called pre-prepared 👍🏻💕
i'm just so happy about Hyoyeon's improvement in tango compared to her first try in Dancing with the Stars. you can really see that she didn't leave or forget her dance sport after DWTS
....I have no words to explain the absolute slayage......... slay hyo slay!
finally hyoyeon got some spotlight... through all these years sm finally put her in a transcendental show... She's not even has to demonstrate something because we all know what she's capable of. she's one of my favorites of all time. I'm rooting for her taemin hoya and ten!
Look at MOMO'face ㅋㅋㅋㅋ The admiration in her face really cute ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
