I always thought it sounded lovely when they descended down the hall, their voices rising in harmony. Emmy's "Angel of Music, grant to me your glory," is a gorgeous stand out.
"Meg, when your mother brought me here to live, whenever i come down here alone, to light a candle for my father, a voice, from above, and in my dreams, he was always there. You see, when my father lay dying, he told me how i'd be protected by an angel, an angel of music." from what i heard.
because he wanted to befriend her. He could relate to her loneliness. He saw that she was just as alone in the world as she was and he wanted to comfort her. So he coached her to sing to take her mind off of it. And the reason he portrayed himself as the Angel of Music to her to begin with is so he wouldn't frighten her away. He just wanted a friend. Then he fell in love with her, and wanted to become her companion for life :D at least thats how i see it.
Why is everyone hating on Gerard? He's a great actor with a great voice! And if you don't like him, don't watch the movie and go watch LND. Stop hating on Gerry, and go actually watch the movie. If you don't like the movie, keep it to yourself. Just remember, Ramin and Gerry played THE SAME CHARACTER JUST IN DIFFERENT TIME PERIODS. So for all of you saying how you would ditch this Phantom to run away with Ramin's Phantom, they're THE SAME. Gosh. Just watch the fricking movie.
I know that, but I think it's the deepness of the character that makes him hot. He's such an amazing character and there's so much to him, he has a tragic story, I think that's why people like him.
HAHAHA OMG! I just read Ramin Karimloo's biography (please don't ask why, I was simply fangirling him) and I saw that he's been in this movie!!! Hahaha it's funny, I never realized it was him. XD
I love how half the comments on here are about a two-second shot we get of Ramin. As a portrait, no less. But remember he was 26 at the time and still lacked the depth and maturity that makes him brilliant in roles like the Phantom and Valjean, two of the most famous and most complex roles ever to grace the stage. Pus, we have the 25th anniversary show now. :D If you haven't seen it, do a favor and go get it now.
I knew a girl in school that did the same thing. She was a ballet dancer as well. It might just be something that they do since they spend so much time in first.
That girl, Meg, is one of those people who looks nice from the first time you see her. and youll be like: oh my god i dont know you but you look like such a nice person! be my friend :D so weird..
The Phantom is partially deformed (only his face), that's why he wears the mask, that is his hideous part. He uses makeup and the mask to make him look nice. I take it you people haven't watched the movie throughto the end when he looses all of that stuff. Stop whiiiinniiiinnnnnng, wwaaaahhhhhhhh. He is, I think, supposed to have some scars from breaking a mirror and some injuries but that's it. I liked Gerard's deeper more masculine gravelly voice. It sounds much better and more Phantom to me.
I adore the Phantom of the Opera, I love Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum and everyone and the music is great, but I hate it how Christine ALWAYS seems to be whispering :-/
3:04 Has anyone noticed the way Meg walks? her feet are not parallel but bent in some strange position. it`s seen quite well - white shoes against the dark floor
Actually, ALW had no say in the casting. He left it all to Schumaker. I think it was said that the only thing ALW specifically wanted was that whoever Schumaker casted had to be able to sing. I'll admit, Gerard was better than some Phantoms, but Ramin is God Tier. Right up there with Panaro and Crawford. :)
I wish Meg sang more in this I love her voice and she is so beautiful!!
Instead of talking about who would make a better phantom, let's talk about how Jennifer Ellison made the most adorable Meg :)
I always thought it sounded lovely when they descended down the hall, their voices rising in harmony. Emmy's "Angel of Music, grant to me your glory," is a gorgeous stand out.
I would probably react the same way as Meg if my best friend told me she heard strange men singing to her when she was asleep.
2:47 I love how Meg walks in 1st position.
"Meg, when your mother brought me here to live, whenever i come down here alone, to light a candle for my father, a voice, from above, and in my dreams, he was always there. You see, when my father lay dying, he told me how i'd be protected by an angel, an angel of music."
from what i heard.
I love Meg, she's so pretty and her voice is so soft and gentle
I wish meg had a bigger part I love her voice ^_^ i'd love to see what the phantom would think of her
meg's voice is so heavenly!!
Her voice takes my breath away
I absolutely love Christine's dress! So beautiful :)
That harmonizing is fabulous! Get's me every time! xx
I love the movie's Meg because her voice doesn"t annoy me.
Emmy's dress and hairstyle is very alike that of Queen Sissi.
because he wanted to befriend her. He could relate to her loneliness. He saw that she was just as alone in the world as she was and he wanted to comfort her. Meg is my favorite character and it's sad that no one pay attention to her.
Ramin is the only person to have played all three men in Christine Daae's life and he truly shines in his performance as Gustave Daae.
Why is everyone hating on Gerard? He's a great actor with a great voice! And if you don't like him, don't watch the movie and go watch LND. Stop hating on Gerry, and go actually watch the movie. Meg has my favourite singing voice in the film.
This is the best musical! It has great music, great costumes, and great characters!!!
I still cant believe emmy rossum is 17 she was 16 when she audition for the part
I know that, but I think it's the deepness of the character that makes him hot. He's such an amazing character and there's so much to him, he has a tragic story, I think that's why people like him.
same here! i swear, i could watch this movie for the rest of my life! i know every song and almost every speaking part!
i love this scene.
everyone has an angel watching and protecting us from above.
So Ramin played the Father, The Lover and The Phantom?
Raminception.
haha, she is Older than Emmy Rossum, who is 17 in this movie.. "Meg" Jennifer Ellison is 21 in this movie..
the best part is the bravo, bravo bravisimo!!!I love this movie,it is great, stupenda!!!
My angel of music is my Uncle Dale. RIP Uncle Dale.
HAHAHA OMG! I just read Ramin Karimloo's biography (please don't ask why, I was simply fangirling him) and I saw that he's been in this movie!!! Hahaha it's funny, I never realized it was him. XD
why would anyone dislike this? ever.
Ramin Karimloo is amazing even when hes not acting in the movie!
I love Phantom Of The Opera!
Meg! In a heartbeat!
Ramins performance was truly brilliant here
i love emmy rossum she is so pretty
when i first watched i cried
"Meg" is played by a girl named Jennifer Ellison and the girl who plays Johanna is Jayne Wisener
I know right?!?! fangurling so hard :DDDDD it was sweet of them to have him in the movie.
Wow! They say and sing Christen's name a thousand times in this movie.
Okay so from what I've been seeing Christine was 17 but how old was Raoul? Anybody?
She was only 17 when they shot this.Gerard Butler was 34.js.LAWLthat musth been awkward haha
Woah! I never noticed that before! I didn't even recognize him with that hairstyle. That's such an awesome cameo! :D
he was only a picture
i love this play! thanks for posting!
i love meg i feel bad she doesn't get more scren tim
e
Look at the picture of Christine's father.....
she's so beautiful
Meg says Christine is dreaming because she believes in the Angel of Music, but the Phantom of the Opera? Totally legit.
I always sing to this song :) I love the movie ;)
I knew a girl in school that did the same thing. She was a ballet dancer as well. It might just be something that they do since they spend so much time in first.
That girl, Meg, is one of those people who looks nice from the first time you see her. and youll be like: oh my god i dont know you but you look like such a nice person! be my friend :D so weird..
i am 11 and i love this movie i watched it at school
Well. I mean. Meg, from the perspective of this musical. But, if you travel forward to the sequel, Love Never Dies, Christine is the obvious choice...
my fave part! 0:00 - 3:24
Wow. If that's true (I don't deny you, but I'm just saying...) then that's an incredible fact! I love it!
Around 16 I think. I think there is a part in the novel saying she is 15 but it was supposed to be a mistranslation.
Or Madam Giry. I often wondered if they had any relationship at all, after she saved him... Seems like they would have had at least a friendship.
1:42 - 1:45, Look at Meg's face! She knows its the Phantom and not her father! Yet she says nothing!
Holy scrapbook! I just realiza that Emmy Rossum is Fiona from Shameless US XD
In regards to meg walking, she's wearing Pointe shoes, which is why she's walking funny
I've always wondered what the phantom thought of Meg.
Yet, this movie was made in 2004, while Ramin played Erik in 2011.
I adore the Phantom of the Opera, I love Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum and everyone and the music is great, but I hate it how Christine ALWAYS seems to be whispering :-/
Is that Ramin Karimloo in that picture frame??
yes yeah? I love it in fact...
1:45 is when the actual song starts haha
To the fact that Gerardis actually scottish makes it better. I love Gerard.
Ramin!!!!
It is because of her ballet background, the actress was also a trained ballet dancer.
3:04 Has anyone noticed the way Meg walks? her feet are not parallel but bent in some strange position. it`s seen quite well - white shoes against the dark floor
THIS ISN`T RAMIN THIS IS GERARD BUTLER RAMIN ISN`T THE PHANTOM UNTIL THE LATE 2000`S!!! HE SINGS FOR THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!!!!
Gerard's hot.
"Ready to Ramin"? is that like "ready to rumble"? I love it. XD
Yes.......
Who woul you rather go out with? Christine or Meg?
I honestly don't think its broken glass that deformed his face but fire could have much more affect then broken glass, what do you think it is then?
Ramin Karloo! Oh my word!
YES! I caught that, too :)
The blonde sings even better than Christine to me!
Can someone find me the actual full length movie of this? Even if it's broken into parts.
Varda-The Silmarillion(Ainulindale)
i was just informed of that
thats so cool
In my mind, Love Never Dies is non-canon.
Christine believes the Phantom is the Angel of Music her father told her about, but the Angel is not her father.
My appologies...She played a girl in the Brittish show "The Inbetweeners" Named Lauren Harris
Great...
kei mooi liedje
How old are these girls supposed to be in the play/movie? (just curious)
YES!
Epic
Yes! :)
Oh, Ramin is there!
Ramin Karimloo was the only reason I looked this up...
Can anyone tell me what Christine said from 0:56 to 1:34??
I really need it for a competition... :((
Gerard was excellent in acting th Phantom, but th fact is he didn't have th voice for him. i still enjoyed his performance a great deal :)
aw.... i really liked the growled notes... they were just kinda different...
and i thought gerard butler could sing....
Meg, is that a hint of jealousy I hear ;)
