How did you export al the objects into that folder, like 1-1 Or did you copy the whole biogas for example and then make an new folder and then put the biogas in it
Where did you find the textures for stuff? When I export the pig fence from your first episode for example, I get the pig fence but no textures folder like you have in this video, and the fence isn't showing up when I load the map in-game.
The textures are created when you export the files from an existing maps into your mods folder. You have to make sure to export with all files, and not just the object itself. There are multiple export options in the menu. I hope this helps.
Is it possible to import OpenStreetMap information to FS17? Or else us such map as a "template" to place buildings on it, and decide where roads and land is. We want to recreate our neighborhood in a FS17 map.
I haven't really looked into that. I know that it was somehow possible for FS15 to use street maps for texturing. But it would only be basic, requiring still a lot of work to get it to look anything like your neighborhood.
Nathan's Sandbox Thanks I was just curious if you could create a separate folder outside of the maps folder that I could put all the items into without actually going into the "maps" folder.
ok great vid , but what you did of camera. is what may be needed for many, tried what you said you did off camera, you did more than just import main map to folder. and , when you said you would be creating the map from scratch. thought you meant, making the triggers, writing, the script, and placing it all together, this is just using everyone's work. not saying it not a bad start point. but looking for "main map making" skills, if ya know what i mean. watching more of your vids. hope to get more info ;) Cheers
+Patrick Tschirhart I see your point. This was a side project and I didn't expect so many ppl looking for this. I just tend to share on RUclips what I do and learn and I by no means claim to be an expert in any of these projects:)
Nathan, first of all, thank you for the tutorial, it help me a lot, but my question is: how can i keep the textures when i take out the zoom? In my giants editor, when i take out the zoom all the textures in the ground turn in some "pigmud" style that covers all map, and I want to make my textures from above because my map is a little large. Anyway, thanks for the tutorial's and sorry for my terrible english. Greetings from a brazilian fan.
You have to save your file and reopen it. New textures are only visible from far away if you have the map loaded up with them. Drawing from really far away is a bit difficult if you want to be exact.
The current version after the fourth episode is in the description. It is not really done, but should I finish it off camera at some point I would update the link. But no guarantees:)
I need help I been working on my personal map but I'm having issues so bad im about to give up I'm working on a field and I made it and everything but for some reason when I go in game to check on it it shows my old field its just weird looking plus when u would but the field that I con is not in the right place where I put it any help would be appreciated
What I haven't looked into yet is how to change the mini map in game. So if that is your problem, I can't really help. But what I already observed is that you have to reload the map your editing in order to see changes from a far distance in the editor.
+tn master It either has to do with missing textures or mod format errors. I've also seen object appear after an in-game day, it was kind if inconsistant.
Hello, you probably haven't exported the original files with the textures. Make sure you select export with files. If you already did that let some time pass in the game and see if that works.
Oh, I didn't notice you commented on the second episode, just assumed it was the fourth:) Within those 4 videos I basically mention everything I know about modding, but of course there is a lot more after this, just goes further than my knowledge:)
Hey there! I don't think I'm the right person for that job, I suggest you to search in the forums for people who are more invested into modding, they will give you better results:)
dont stop doing this dude, you have helped me so much you really have no idea lol
I'm glad I did:)
@8:17 first time was right, trôf.
Interesting series, keep up the good work. :)

I appreciate you doing these videos, I am about to try to replicate a real cattle ranch and these have really helped
I'm glad it helped:)
How did you export al the objects into that folder, like 1-1 Or did you copy the whole biogas for example and then make an new folder and then put the biogas in it
I made my own folders within the mod structure.

you are a smart guy pall

so do u put the exports in the export folder and in the sub folder created in the maps folder
Yes, folder within the maps folder is where the parts go.
i figured out another way to do it without exporting models.....
Hi, do the sub-categories have to be placed in the maps folder or can you create a "sub-categories" folder?
You can create your own named folders within the maps folder.
Nathan's Sandbox Thanks I was just curious if you could create a separate folder outside of the maps folder that I could put all the items into without actually going into the "maps" folder.
It has to be in the maps folder, but you're free to structure inside the maps folder as you see fit.
You can create sub-category folders.
+Kyle Hager Hm, have you tested that theory now? Does it work outside the maps folder?
how you get the attribruttes side up i cant get that and i really need it

Hey! How did you raise the whole map?
+Axel b With the mountain tool and putting on a specific height. I think it was the replace mode if I remember correctly.
Nathan's Sandbox Thanks!
When I go to edit the terrain it says
Remove current layer from terrain chunk?
With question mark what does that mean?
Hi, I'm not sure what you mean, I never encounterd that message as far as I can recall.
As far as I know it won't let me edit the terrain
now you give me a idea to make a nice map :)
Can you please release this map to the public once it's done Nathan?
The current version after the fourth episode is in the description. It is not really done, but should I finish it off camera at some point I would update the link. But no guarantees:)
omg man u helped me with my map i lov this video serers
I'm glad I was able to help here:)
how did you get the original map? i cant get it nor find it with gants editor
It's in the game's folders, not in the Giants Editor.
Nathan's Sandbox yeah I know but I don't have it with steam so I can't do it your way so I had to download goldcrest as a mod
+Oliver Farmer Jacob But your game folder should still be there, with or without Steam.
how can you make animations like open a shed
Is there such a thing even? There are no doors that open with an animation in this game are there?
how can i fix the problem that all the things are invisible?
I need help I been working on my personal map but I'm having issues so bad im about to give up I'm working on a field and I made it and everything but for some reason when I go in game to check on it it shows my old field its just weird looking plus when u would but the field that I con is not in the right place where I put it any help would be appreciated

Sure, I can do that.
Nathan's Sandbox how can i fix the problem.where all the objects are invisible?
+tn master It either has to do with missing textures or mod format errors. I've also seen object appear after an in-game day, it was kind if inconsistant.
hello nethan i have a big problem evrithing is whit in the map what is the problem??
Hello, you probably haven't exported the original files with the textures. Make sure you select export with files. If you already did that let some time pass in the game and see if that works.
Oke thank you
how do you load the new map into the game to play?
By putting the folder into your mods folder and then the map should be available in-game.
thanks alot
wot about if u dont have a steam download of fs17
I imagine everything still works the same, just that you have to look for the main installation folder somewhere else.
how can i found the origial map?
The original is in the installation folder of the game I think.
Oke thanks ;)
Why did you stop this series?
Because I showed everything I had to show.
Oh
Nathan's Sandbox Sorry, my bad. I thought you had ended on this episode, I didn't see the others.
Oh, I didn't notice you commented on the second episode, just assumed it was the fourth:) Within those 4 videos I basically mention everything I know about modding, but of course there is a lot more after this, just goes further than my knowledge:)
Well, it being the second episode does not mean there is another after. Also, the episodes were hard to find.
Hello, i am making a map but i am stuck could you help me please?
What are you stuck with? I might be able to help, but in the four videos I made on this topic I basically mentioned everything I know about:)
Nathan's Sandbox ok, do you have discord?
No sorry.
Nathan's Sandbox Skype? Or anyway to talk?
Maybe explain your problem more specifically, so I can already see if it's even something I can help you with.
How to add grass
how do i play my map please help
You put the folder you made into the maps folder and it will be listed as an option when creating a new world.
Nathan's Sandbox didn't work where is the map folder and do I have to zip the folder?
I meant the mods folder, a new map is like a mod. I'm sorry messed that up for some reason.
You don't have to zip the folder, that's just for easier distribution.
can I add you the my friends list
the map does not appear
can i get some help
the filed is werid looking I'm not sure what to do other than starting from scratch witch is probably what I'm going to have to do
If there's a booger in your eye, you're doing it wrong. ;-)
That might be true!
Hey Nathan, is there a way you could upload the export folder with all textures to somewhere so people could download it?
I will upload it as a mod when it's done.
Could you make a map for me for a fee
Hey there! I don't think I'm the right person for that job, I suggest you to search in the forums for people who are more invested into modding, they will give you better results:)
