I directed and edited this for Buena Vista Television. It's called "First Look," and is sung by Marie Osmond. This is a cutdown version, much shorter than the music video I did. The music was written by Non Stop out of Utah. If you want to see the full version, go to my page, "OnAirPromo." Or just search "First Look."
There are a few more promos from that era for the Disney Afternoon, Goof Troop...etc.. Cheers! - Larry Z.

Cool stuff I remember this from my childhood. Can you maybe explain the amount of effort it takes to shoot this kind of promo? Do you just take a camera out to the beach and find some willing participants or are all the shots preplanned and casted? I did a 30 second toy commercial on location when I was 12 and it took all day to film, just wondering kind of the same here. Like for instance it looks like you’re on location in both southern CA and Hawaii but you can obviously dress someone in a hula outfit in LA and make it look like Hawaii, is this the case here?

@@canuckster24 Hi - thanks so much for your comment!
This music video was assembled from 5 different shoots with kids in California, most from the LA area and a group from the Bay area. Open casting calls were published and commercial agencies were contacted.
My boss at the time, Dennis Ho, accompanied the Buena Vista Television VP, Sal Sardo, to casting. Kids were seen in person and asked to dance a bit. Once the casting was done, they handed everything over to me for directing, producing and editing.
The kids had a choreographer, Louise Mita, who gave them dance steps for each of the five shoots. However, when I got them on set I thought they did better just free-dancing by themselves. Whenever you see individual shots the kids were probably free dancing.
      Kids were paid scale.
From the five shoots we made 10 promos to countdown to the premiere. Then I used all the shoots to make the long music video.
The following couple of years I was able to persuade Buena Vista to do some additional shoots which resulted in promos like the Disney Afternoon "House" promo, and the "GT Shuffle," which you can find in my videos.
Importantly, the video you are commenting on is NOT the original video we worked on. That is here:
      ruclips.net/video/zzH6e6Rto1M/видео.html
You can find the other promos I referenced among my videos.
Hope this answered your question! :)

@@OnAirPromo Thanks for the answer. That's awesome, I would have really liked to get into TV production and behind the scenes stuff, I did a lot of that for drama in highschool, I also did an X-Files episode and was always talking to the behind the scenes people trying to find out what they were doing. Kinda wish I had gotten into it more.
