    Absolutely superb. Compared to 99% of the 'alleged' comedians on the TV these days Cook was in a completely different class.

      I remember watching this as a teenager, back in 1993. James Beauchamp was the funniest of the 4 characters, my second favourite is the football manager.

      The thing with Peter Cook is that if his career had been bigger, gone to Hollywood like Dudley Moore, he'd have lost this originality and sharpness.

    Brilliant! These characterizations were amongst the best work that Peter Cook ever did. Like all comedians, he was obviously a keen, and somewhat bemused, observer of human behaviour!

      He was always saying stuff like 'Moving on now' and drumming on the desk, as if he couldn't wait to get home. Never a primetime draw, he was good enough to stooge for Cook, but his superficiality and self-regard as an interviewer anticipated today's vacuous Kimmels and Olivers. Anderson should have stuck to writing for more charismatic figures.

      Wow, don't hold back esmee, when The Beegees walked out on his show they should have battered him first for calling them tossers first. He now hosts a talk show on the radio and he's still a patronising git.@@esmeephillips5888

    • @esmeephillips5888
      @esmeephillips5888 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@philfletcher3434 Yes, and all he did was feebly try to cap a funny story THEY told about being billed as Les Tosseurs. It exposed him as suffering from the latter-day disease of talk show hosts: thinking he was bigger than his guests, unwilling to let them hold the stage, blurting out a plea for the last laugh. Parkinson, Cavett and Carson did not make such a mistake. Anderson may be remembered for little more than that gaffe.
