- In this video I'm comparing the 2020 Simpler Hair Color to the 2022 Simpler Hair Color. There is a new formula as well as a new can and dispenser that is much simpler to use.

Do you have this hair color? What do you think? I like it. Maybe I'll do the blonde one some day.
As a guy who dyes regularly, and having tried other dyes, I found Simpler to be the best bang for buck and 100x easier to use.
I agree! It's basically as easy as brushing teeth. Dispense. Apply. Rinse.
I find it much easier to dispense it into a small bowl, mix, then apply. It is much easier to control how you apply it.
Thank you for sharing, been using Just for Men for years and had no idea about Simpler! 👍
Glad I could introduce you!
I ordered some and I'm waiting for it to ship. Excited that it isn't a harmful dye.
What happened with the dye , works good , no skin irritations ? I want to know before make an order , Iam very alergic person , Thanks a lot.
Sorry to say but I am experiencing an allergic reaction now from using Simpler, If I use the white brush provided on my beard I immediately experience burning. Hours later I experience itching that eventually turns into scabs, I am looking for another product now that will not cause these skin reactions.
Great review. Glad to see a working alternative to Just For Men which is costly, stains my skin. In order for it to dye the grey, it colors adjacent non-grey hair too dark. I loved the Cremo Hair and Beard colorant but it was abruptly pulled from the market after "Just for Men" bought it and buried it about 15 months ago.
I do like this for the reasons you just said. I tried it on a 7 month beard and it performed great. Short vid on that coming soon.
Just for me bought Cremo and pulled it off the market ??? Damn what bullies!!
Why did you choose the light brown instead of ginger? I'm 100% ginger and hesitated between light brown and ginger as my beard is not so vivid as hair but ordered ginger, hoping it's a good decision :)
It was the closest color to my natural hair color when I got it. I don't think they had Ginger then or blonde.
@@MyLegitReviews thank you for the answer
This is the only stuff that doesn't bother my skin
How does it fair when you sweat like when working out, running or playing some basketball? I can't seem to find any reviews that cover this question and I don't want to look like Rudy Giuliani when he was sweating his hair dye on national TV a couple of years ago. 😅
I've never noticed any running or staining from it. When my wife colors her hair (not with Simpler) she uses special towels and pillow cases so our good ones won't be ruined. Not so for me with Simpler. Beard and hair have never been an issue with running or staining.
I just bought some, and it's quite pricey ($58). I expect it to have fewer applications than the "manual mix" style, which I'm likely to stick with.
@James Moses I only use it on my beard, and it last maybe a couple of weeks at best. The dye also has a hard time attaching to the hairs on some spots. I’ll stick the the regular cheaper hair dye moving forward.
Hi, what color did you use? My barber used dark brown(4 parts) and brown(1part) 4 to 1 ratio. Do you know if they have different ratios other than they offer on the website?
I used light brown. I'm not aware of custom ratios. They also just released a partial color so that grays can still show through.
That's the light brown? It looks really red. Is that just the lighting or does it go really red?
It must be the lighting. It isn't red at all IMO.
Looks great my Man. How long after do you have to apply again? But if it’s new can doesn’t that they’re done with old can for good?
I'm sure it depends on so many different factors, but let's just say the color itself lasts pretty long in my hair. I'd say a month or so. But keep in mind that my hair is dark blonde or light brown so it's really difficult to tell when it starts to fade. Also, I was doing all of these things before they introduced the blonde color which I need to test so I've been using light brown. I think you're right that they have discontinued the old can and formula. My thought process for doing this video was to show people who already had tried the product. What the differences were, if any.
@@MyLegitReviews thank you homie.
Loved the review. So your hair looks like ginger but down in the comments I think you mentioned you used light brown?
I ask this because I searched for simple hair color reviews ginger and yours came up. I love the results and I'm hoping the color reviewed was ginger because it's the results I'm looking for.
Yes, my beard is reddish and I did use the light brown color. My hair is dark blond or light brown. Tough to tell. If I were trying to go for an exact match of my natural hair color this would be very difficult but I'm just going to cover up the grays and it's not really a big deal to me if it matches exactly.
Do you have to leave on for 20 min for it to work
For my gray beard, yes. I did 10 minutes on Saturday morning and it turned out half gray, half brown (using the light brown color). I should have gone the full 20 minutes. But, no stink and no burn for me.
Does the new container contain less product?
How many beard applications do you get from this? My beard is about your length but trimmed a little more narrow.
I'd say at least 5, but could be more. My beard is now about 2" long, so I'd say fewer at this point.
Sorry to say but I am experiencing an allergic reaction now from using Simpler, If I use the white brush provided on my beard I immediately experience burning. Hours later I experience itching that eventually turns into scabs, I am looking for another product now that will not cause these skin reactions.
Wow! That’s good to know ! Sorry that happened to you bro
...is it safe to do eyebrows with this product?...
No. According to the information from Simpler you should not use this near your eyes.
@@MyLegitReviews too bad it would be perfect
Do you ever wash your beard in between applications? I go to the gym a few times a week and probably wash my facial hair twice a week. Was wondering if I’d have to apply this product weekly.
I shampoo my beard every morning and the color lasts pretty well. I'm about to start a little test of keeping a beard colored from the first day of growth.
@@MyLegitReviews Thanks. I just ordered my first can.
You ONLY wash your beard twice a week??? What the hell man!!!!
@@tima4929twice a F’in Week??? 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮
🤮🤮🤮🤮
Im really interested in this. I currently use henna because my face reactioned Alot to comestic dyes. Is this good with sensitive skin?
Simpler was created to be less harsh on skin. @SIMPLERHAIRCOLOR
How does henna work? Does it do a good job with grey coverage?
@GuidoLoko henna is great. The 2 step process is always better however. Buy henna powder, mix with warm water into a yogurt paste, leave for 30mins to sit and the. Apply and leave on for 1 hr. Wash out then do exactly the same with the indigo. If you rinse out the indigo and your hair is not as dark as you would like then just do the steps again.
Very helpful, thank you
I'm glad to help
How many applications can you do in the new can, it’s very expensive!
That really depends on how much hair you're trying to dye with it. If it's a full head of hair a couple inches long, then maybe you only two or three uses. If you add in the beard, even less. But if your hair is shorter and you don't do a beard then maybe up to 10 applications.
Just for men burned my skin and my skin broke out and itched ! Is this stuff safer and not all the chemicals ? Thanks
It's supposed to be less irritating. They do recommend a spot test before full application.
Why some are complaining if thete is no chemical?
Thanks for the demo
My pleasure! I might have yet another coming soon-ish
Does it stains ? Pillowcases ?
I have not ever noticed any staining. My wife colors her hair with a different product and it pretty much always stains. She has special towels and pillowcases for when she's dyed her hair. I have no such concerns
I have become completely allergic to supermarket hair dye it burns and melts my skin!
Does this have PPD or any other chemicals that can cause allergic reactions???
One of the reasons that Simpler was created was to be gentler on skin. @SIMPLERHAIRCOLOR
@@MyLegitReviews Hi. Sorry you did not address my question. Let me rephrase it Does it have any chemicals that are also found in Super Market hair dye that can cause an allergic reaction or it doesn't? Just saying it's gentler on the skin is a little ambiguous.
Sorry, I don't know the answer. I tagged Simpler in hopes they would join the conversation.
@@MyLegitReviews Just checked the ingredients. Simpler Hair Color contains Toluene-2-5-Diamine Sulfate, which I had a severe allergic reaction within 24hrs when I did a patch test on my elbow. It took 4 weeks to fully heal my skin. So clearly I can't use this formula. It seems I am allergic to both PPD and also Touene-2.5 Diamine which you include in your formula.
@MyLegitReviews
My beard is ginger and gray, so will the ginger color work well?
How long-lasting?
It seems to last until my hair grows out. Granted I don't have solid grays but salt and pepper and my hair is very light and so is the color. So it's a bit tough to tell but I don't find myself needing to reapply. I am about to start doing it in my beard and then I'll be able to have a better look at things. Maybe I'll do a brief update one of these days
Does it have side effects on skin ?
I haven't experienced any side effects at all.
I get very irritated from dyes so I never could die my beard..I used this and my cheeks minimally itch my chin which would get very irritated from other dyes has not had a reaction from simpler.. so I’m very satisfied..
What color were you using
Light brown
thanks!
Good video. I like the presentation of "live" example vs "Here's What I Think" ... But did anyone else keep hearing "War Never Changes" while trying to click on the "Face" or "Extras" button?.. No?.. Just me?
...no
Good answer. LOL!
Their new can is awful. Half of the time the brown color doesn't dispense properly, if at all. Sometimes, it's better to leave things alone and not try to constantly tweek a product.
I've had a small difficulty with it. I just press the button very hard, and it seems to work better. I've not tested it all that much, though.
If you’re in Canada, don’t bother. Ordered well over a month ago and still hasn’t arrived.
Just want people to know that YES, you can have a bad reaction to this product and to TEST FIRST. I used this product once (Feb 2023) and left it on my beard for 10 minutes before washing it out. Looked great at first but later my face started reacting. It's now 5 days later, and my face is red, irritated, blotchy, puffy and disfigured looking. I can't go into work looking like this. Hopefully this subsides soon. They refunded my money quickly but the email they sent really pissed me off. The first line was an apology, the rest was about how they designed the product to be safe for sensitive skin with all natural ingredients and struck a tone of, It's not us, its you and your stupid face.
Don't see why you were so bothered. A reaction is about your skin and not necessarily the product. All hair dye systems warn about possible reactions but these reactions are not the norm but can still happen.
@@RsSquier51 You don't see why it bothered me that my face was swollen with very red, angry welts that made my face looked deformed as well as having it burn and itch for over 5 days which woke me up at night while still having to go to my professional place of business during the day? You can't fathom it huh? My PSA is about making sure people are aware that, even though the makers of this product claim it's "SAFER" and made with all sorts of wonderful natural ingredients, that they should not skip the two day testing and inform them that this product really is just an over priced canister of chemical hair dye with a cool brush and packaging, same as any other off-the-shelf dye. No safer, no gentler, just a helluva lot more expensive with the same risks.
@@ricb4195The fact that you had a reaction doesn't mean that it's not a safer formula. I appreciate the fact that you are encouraging people to test it. The company also encouraged you to test it first, though. Clearly, they acknowledged that some can have a reaction. You got mad at the company b/c you didn't listen. If I try it and don't test, should I get mad at you, b/c I didn't listen?
@@ricb4195 Did the instructions not tell you to test the product first? pretty sure it did. so thats on you bud
Yup the can came like it leak out also.
Did that cause any problems for you? I had no issues at all. It was just as observed and didn't happen any more.
@@MyLegitReviews no problems just was leak out all over the can I just didnt like that
I think they do a quick squeeze from the factory before they ship it out so it already starts coming out evenly
white/brown
@@vicfonz I hadn't thought of that. Seems plausible to me. I've not had any problems with it shipping this way.
Good job 😂
👍🏽
Reviewing here because they don’t give option to review from their website. Shipped a rip off. They claim 4 to 8 days delivery. 8 days later my product still in NJ instead of here in MI. Not going to say bad product, just untruthful advertising so far.
I will look for other places to express my opinion as well.
Oh that's a bummer! Did you reach out to support? I've had good experiences with support.
@@MyLegitReviews No I didn’t, people need to know what was promised and what was delivered. Or not.
Yup, of course. Just wondered if you reached out so they can make it right.
@@MyLegitReviews Not that forgiving
Don't buy this product ... It's very itchy to the skin as over price on the value do not buy this product
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO PPD. ALMOST 4 WEEKS AND I'M STILL ITCHY AND IRRITATED! SENT THEM A MESSAGE AND THEY DON'T CARE! MONEY HUNGRY
Hi. I hear you about problems with PPD....but I didn't see PPD in the ingredients listed on the can. Does it go by another name? Thanks.
@@djm4457 I'm actually out of the country I'll check when I get back home but claim to be all natural which obviously it isn't. And now it's been months and I'm just now stopping the itching
@davismark44 Wow. I've researched it and Simpler is saying straight up they have no PPD in their product, and it's not listed on the can, but...enough guys are complaining in online reviews about severe itching and burning when they use it that often lasts for days, so something is going on with it.
