My first car was a 76 mustang cobra II V6 4speed White with the blue stripes and interior ,8 track and the polished factory slot type wheels. A hand me down from my parents. I remember my dad had a wild hair one night and on his way home from work stopped off at the ford dealership The mustang was the car he chose. This was done without telling anybody in our family including my mom. She was not impressed, but me being all of 5 years old thought my dad had just arrived home in fastest, coolest best looking hot rod in the world. Something I will never forget.
+modifiedmashup76 It was great that your dad followed his instinct and bought the Mustang on the spot! If he had come home, and talked it over with your mom...it might never have happened! It sure would be impressive to a five year old too..the equivalent of a Lambo or Ferrari! Thanks! :) Jack
It really is amazing that Ford engineering was able to develop such a different feeling car using the same platform. I sure am glad to see these cars starting to get the adulation that they deserve! Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, Karyn! Probably the hardest part is locating a car that has restoration potential...so you can consider that done! LOL! I do love this color scheme, particularly as it's carried over into the interior. I know the owner, and he's a stickler for detail...I think those louvers reflect that! Glad these cars are getting the attention they deserve! Thanks! :) Jack
Very nice looking Cobra Mustang! Humm.. I have a "BEFORE" picture of this car... and the girl standing in front, won't be looking at THIS beautiful restoration, until her student loans are repaid!! LOL!! One of these daze! Beautiful color scheme! I love the way the louvers have been painted to match the car! A page from automotive history, in responce for the need for fuel efficient cars following the oil crisis. Thanks Jack!
It sure was the victim of the detuning of the time...but at least it carried on the Mustang name, and its interior was really an improvement over previous generations. Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, Mick! These were brought out in the beginning of the oil embargo over here...fuel was very scarce, and in my locale, an even license tag would have you fueling on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while an odd tag would be the alternate days. That's IF you could find a gas station open! This was serious business..and cars like this helped people weather the storm. Interesting point about parts sharing...I'd bet on it! Thanks! :) Jack
I still remember Farrah Fawcett posing in a swim suit sitting on the hood of one of these back in the day. I remember being so mad she was covering the Car! Hahahahahaha oh to be a kid again. I love the interior style and the GHIA models sure were upscale. I also remember all the controversy over a 4 CYL. Mustang.
Hey, Gene! Yes, the times were a'changing! Models always had a place in selling cars...it's funny, in the 30's it was testimonials from owners and "prominent businessmen"...by the time this car came out, models were firmly in place! LOL! Ghia models had very deluxe upholstery. Later Mustang tried a 4 cylinder turbo in their Fox body, but there were problems with it, I believe. Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, Mark! They sure are sweet..and I think their time is coming in recognition! Very true that a car without A/C in Florida limits the use for a very good portion of the year! Thanks! :) Jack
They sold a lot of these...the timing was right for economy became important with the oil embargo. This car kept the Mustang concept alive during quite a span of years. Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, Terry! I know...at the time, they didn't get any respect...but time has a funny habit of changing things around! Same could be said of Edsel! Glad you like! Thanks! :) Jack
I really felt that the interior of the Mustang II was a definite upgrade from what had preceded it, and the fabric of the Fox bodies didn't wear too well...the leather interior was better. Thanks! :) Jack
My second car was a 75 Mustang II with a 302. It had the Ghia package. Loved it. One thing I really miss about cars from the 70's and 80's are the interior colors. While in many ways today's cars interiors are nicer, that is not true at all when it comes to color. Some combination of black/tan/gray is about it now. SAD! Anyway, great car and video.
Hey, Todd! Glad to hear you had a Mustang II! You have put your finger on my major beef with the auto industry today...a lack of color choices for the interior! After all, we spend most of our time IN the car, not OUTSIDE the car...I plead with them to give us choices! Back in the day, there was not only color choice, but fabric choice...sometimes an bewildering amount of choice. I suppose the car industry thinks to themselves...."they'll settle" for that lack of choice! Thanks! :) Jack
I had a chance to buy a Brand New 1977 Ford Mustang ll Cobra along with a 1977 Firebird Trans Am (The Bandit?) and a 1977 Mazda RX-3 SP! Well at that time, I was trying to "Get The Most Bang For My Buck", so I ended up Buying the 1977 Mazda RX-3 SP! Because again at that time it was the fastest of all 3! ZOOM! ZOOM! ZOOM!...God Bless! BTW...I am a Ford Guy at Heart and before I bought the 1977 Mazda RX-3 SP I owned a 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe that I fixed up like a 66 Shelby GT350 Coupe back in my High School Days! Also, I currently have gone back to my Ford roots again and I now own a 2003 Ford Mustang GT/Cobra!
Hey, David! Those are some interesting choices! I agree with you, I'd go for a change...it's interesting to see how other car manufacturers achieve their goals. I also like that 2003 generation Mustang! Thanks! :) Jack
I love it even kids can tell mustang IIs are mustangs worthy of the name!!!!!!!!!!!!!! like in the video titled ( 1977 Modified Mustang Cobra II - Part 2 (Drag Racing ) and the kid in the back ground says very boastfully ( the white car is a mustang !) not recognizing the other car as anything special at all! KIDS CAN TELL
I live in the UK and it takes me right back to "Charlie's Angels" didn't they drive one? Love the look of this car, we had Nothing back then that looked as good as this car.
Hey, Gary! Yes indeed, one of these was in "Charlie's Angels"! Ford was big in getting their cars in TV series! It looked very sporty indeed...and with the oil embargo over here, it was sensible to drive compared to some of the "tanks" of the time! Thanks! :) Jack
Jack R It looked very sporty back then, and still does all these years later. If only Ford had exported this car to the UK back then I think it would have sold really well. The standard Mustang 11 was available over here in limited number from selected dealers, my old friends dad had one. However, the Cobra version unfortunately, was not available, which was a shame.
Gary Dunn Hey, Gary! It's certainly a different day today, when cars seem to have no borders. I don't have a well founded explanation for why it wasn't exported in numbers. Perhaps it was labor agreements or trade restrictions..or perhaps management never gave it serious consideration. It's a pity that it wasn't done more. Thanks! :) Jack
Jack R The nearest Ford UK got to a two door sports Coupe, was the Capri. However, even in its sports trim, alloy wheels and side graphics, it did not look as good as the Mustang mk11 Cobra. You are probably familiar with the Capri, I saw quite a few on the roads of LA back in 1981 so it must have been available in the States.
Gary Dunn Hey, Gary! Yes, I believe that was a German Ford product..it was sold here at Mercury dealers from 1970 to 1977. It was poor product placement, for Mercury dealers didn't seem to know how to promote or sell the car. They were later outlets for the Merkur...which ran into similar problems. Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, Cathy! I'd suggest that you go to Hemmings on line, as they're expert at evaluating classic cars. A LOT depends on condition of the car. Thanks! :) Jack
I think the clock is either Digital....or Mechanical not both. I dont think the interior is White, I belivee the factory called it white, but.... u can see its like an off white, nearly creme or very light beige, but technically they call it white .... The outside of the car has white paint, but its much lighter shade than the interior.
It's all a matter of name.....a digital clock can be electronic or mechanical...it's digital because it doesn't have hands...just displays digits. Ford at this time was using a mechanical mechanism on these digital clocks, I believe. I don't claim to be an expert on color naming, and surely the car companies had fancy names for white and off white paint schemes. Thanks! :) Jack
smanny0747 I'm no authority on pricing...I'd go to Hemmings , I think they have a monthly magazine that values collector cars. As a backstop, I'd go to ebay motors and see what they're going for. As always, it depends on the model and equipment, the condition of the car, whether it's complete and if its original. Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, Thom! Not my car, but here's a similar one in an article from Hemmings: www.hemmings.com/stories/article/all-in-the-family-1977-ford-mustang-ii-cobra-ii 302 c.i. 134 hp 247 torque. Thanks! :) Jack
I've had two cobra 2's both v8's and the two I had had different steering wheels they were like reg mustang 2's wheels and they were never changed and they were real cobra 2's. Never understood that

This is the one we want for Christmas, and we have been as good as possible! :D LOL! Great looking car! This one is awesome! :D
It really is amazing that Ford engineering was able to develop such a different feeling car using the same platform. I sure am glad to see these cars starting to get the adulation that they deserve! Thanks! :) Jack
White and blue interior with white and blue exterior looks sharp. Looks perfect and sporty
Hey, Bill! Thanks for supplying that information..and for bringing your car out to the show! Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, Karyn! Probably the hardest part is locating a car that has restoration potential...so you can consider that done! LOL! I do love this color scheme, particularly as it's carried over into the interior. I know the owner, and he's a stickler for detail...I think those louvers reflect that! Im restoring a 1978 cobraII,except mine has T-tops and I'm going to make it look just like this beautiful car.
Hey, Chris! I'm glad you have a '78 example of this car! Good luck...you'lll have a fine looking car! Thanks!
Very nice. These certainly were more luxurious than their ancestors. On power, though, they sure had gone a long, long way downhill.
It sure was the victim of the detuning of the time...but at least it carried on the Mustang name, and its interior was really an improvement over previous generations. Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, Chester! The color scheme really is cool on this car...and it's really in great condition! Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, Mick! These were brought out in the beginning of the oil embargo over here...fuel was very scarce, and in my locale, an even license tag would have you fueling on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while an odd tag would be the alternate days. Yes indeed! Cars that starred in series definitely improved their sellability on the showroom floor! Thanks! :) Jack
Hey Jack. Nice looking car. I've always liked the Mustang II.
thats a beautiful Mustang too!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, Terence! Sure is beautiful! Thanks! :) Jack
LOVE the 2s!!
+ehrldawg Glad I could bring it to you! Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, Jason! It's my pleasure to post! Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, Jason! Glad you like..the color scheme fits it very well! Thanks! :) Jack
That's a pretty car, Jack!
Hey, Gene! Yes, the times were a'changing! I love these Mustang Cobras. This is a real gem. I am turned off by the fact it has no A/C. I live in South Florida and down here,A/C is essential!!
Hey, Mark! They sure are sweet..and I think their time is coming in recognition! Very true that a car without A/C in Florida limits the use for a very good portion of the year! Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, Jason! No question that the '67 model was and is a standout...but this is a nice tribute to the concept. Thanks! :) Jack
Beautiful
Hey, Edy! It really is a beauty....great proportions, great color, great interior! Thanks! :) Jack
they make me smile
They sold a lot of these...the timing was right for economy became important with the oil embargo. This car kept the Mustang concept alive during quite a span of years. Thanks! :) Jack
The car has a built 302 with 289 heads, Edelbrok manifold, 4bbl Holley, Headers, and a mild cam. I believe it is putting out about 250 hp now.
Hey, Terry! I know...at the time, they didn't get any respect...but time has a funny habit of changing things around! Same could be said of Edsel! Glad you like! Thanks! :) Jack
Hey, guys! LOL! I love the modifier "as possible"! LOL! Glad you like! Thanks! :D Jack
Hey, John! It sure is pretty...glad you like! Thanks! :) Jack
The 70s mustangs had better interiors than the 80s Fox bodies lol
I really felt that the interior of the Mustang II was a definite upgrade from what had preceded it, and the fabric of the Fox bodies didn't wear too well...the leather interior was better. Thanks! :) Jack
I agree. Thanks for posting. :)

very nice car. back then i'm pretty sure everyone called it a quartz clock.
Hey, Bob! I think you're probably right! The interiors on these cars were really pretty nice! Thanks! :) Jack

Love the white interior. The only negative to this car is No AC.
Yes, here in the south, A/C is almost a requirement if you're going to use the car year 'round! Thanks! :) Jack
My old girlfriend back in the 70,s had one of these, same color to.
I'm glad this car brought back great memories! Thanks! :) Jack
Clean afffff
Very clean! Thanks! :) Jack
Looks like the one from Charlie's Angels NICE !!!
"Charlie's Angels"!
Michael Williams Hey, Michael! Very true...a starring role! Thanks! :) Jack
very nice wish i could have gotten a cobar mustage i did own a 76 mustage
Hey, Thomas! It's true the Cobra has magic, but a nice '76 has some too! Thanks! :) Jack
Just got a 76 Cobra 2 Mr. Otte from Mr. Otto

Hey, Terrence! Let's hope that the kids can bring back valued status to the Mustang II. After all, they are the future collectors! Thanks! :) Jack

Needs more Cobra badging!
The owner is pretty insistent on authentic...not sure what would be missing. Thanks! :) Jack
I'm looking to buy one right now and obscene 8018 15,000 and I didn't see much difference between the two what's it worth
Hey, Cathy! I'd suggest that you go to Hemmings on line, as they're expert at evaluating classic cars. A LOT depends on condition of the car. Thanks! :) Jack

We had the exact same car. Wonder If this car came from California?
Hey, Gerald! Could very well be....not my car, but people get cars from all over the U.S. these days. Thanks! :) Jack
What size motor? How many horsepower?
Hey, Thom! Not my car, but here's a similar one in an article from Hemmings:

Hi , Jack is this original or restored.
Hey, Bruce! I don't know for sure, but my guess is that it's restored. Thanks! :) Jack
@@coolrides thanks Jack, I have subscribed to you! Keep those mustang videos coming.
Hey, Bruce! It was my pleasure! Thanks for subscribing! :) Jack
How about hp?
302 V8 modified
I've had two cobra 2's both v8's and the two I had had different steering wheels they were like reg mustang 2's wheels and they were never changed and they were real cobra 2's. Never understood that
That is strange...maybe one of my viewers has a possible explanation for that. Thanks! :) Jack
is it for sale..thx
I videoed this car four years ago at a show....sorry, don't know of its whereabouts or status now. Thanks! :) Jack
V8 burble?
+Chris Hack Hey, Chris! I didn't hear it running, but I'm guessing it does. Thanks! :) Jack
Its not nearlkt as good as the 67 cobra mustang, but its still nice
White and blue interior with white and blue exterior looks sharp. Looks perfect and sporty
