Building a Planer Stand

- I just purchased a DeWalt planer, and in this video I'll show you how to build a stand for your planer. This stand can be used with most any portable planer, or you can adapt it for your own needs. I'm currently on version 2 of my dust collection for the planer. This version works, but it gets floppy and can get in the way. Once I get the new system is working a bit better I'll do a quick follow up video.
If you'd like a set of plans for this project, they are available for purchase at www.trullgalle...
I got my casters as a set at: www.rockler.co...
After a few months of use I have to say I'm not a fan of the dust bag I bought, or the second one for that matter. I picked up an Oneida Dust Deputy and added that into the mix. You can check out that addition at • Upgraded Dust Collecti...

Nice job!!! Can’t wait to build one and unbox my new planet!
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I used the plans to make a cart for my desalt planer, then revised them slightly to make one for my lathe too. I’m new to woodworking and your plans and video were easy to follow. I loved learning how to use the pocket jig.
Cool! Keep playing- it gets easier with time. 👷♂️
Just got the bones done, and went back to this video to review the works on the top and bottom panel, the way you used to fasten the casters to the bottom panel is very very clever and in the end like you said will look nice! I will use the trick to do other casters as well. thanks.
Thanks! I'm sure your stand will turn out great!!
Fantastic video-thanks for the dimensions🙂
No problem 👍
I like your garden
Thanks! But credit for any gardening around here goes to my girlfriend. I'll pass it along. 👍😊
Thanks for the video, it’s fantastic that you describe the hole sizes, bolt sizes etc. I am pretty close to buying the same DeWalt planer.
Keep up the good work.
Hey Joe! I'm glad you liked the video. I hope it helps when you get your planer!
Im surprised to be the first to comment on your video. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us.
Great job on this project.
Dale
Thanks Dale. This video just kind of took off. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for providing this.
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope you got some pointers from it.
Nice build, thanks for sharing
Thanks Daniel. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
If you use it much, I would recommend a cheap cyclone separator on a garbage can instead of you dust bag. You don't need a vacuum attached and it is so much easier to empty and you have to do it less often too.
Thanks Rex. Once I have a bit more space, I'll set that up.
@@TheTrullGallery You will need to put your current dust bag on the other port of the separator. The blower on the planer is impressively powerful.
Thanks
And thank you for watching!
Nice video, I have the same planer and will be making a stand soon. Thanks for sharing. Your voice sounds similar to Steve Buscemi. Take care.
He sound like him and look like him too!
Hi, do you have plans for a stand that doesn't use pocket screws?
Sorry, I don't. But if you're a little creative, you can substitute loose tenon joinery, mortise and tenons, or half laps.
Would you happen to have the directions in writing or anything of the sort ? Thank you
Hey Leo, I noticed you found the plans for the stand. Thanks for the support!
I understand the 24", 19", but why 17⅞??? What is the importance of this? Thank you, just ordered my 735
Hey John! It does seem like a random number, but it allows this stand to be the same height as the DeWalt stand. I had used that stand years ago and I liked the height. Feel free to tweak the dimensions as you like. That's what building your own is all about. I think you'll like the planer. I'm glad I made the update / upgrade.
@@TheTrullGallery thank you, that makes things easier, lol. I was like... what am I missing...I know in wood working, and ⅛ sometimes might as well be one inch.
And I failed to mention earlier, How great the video is,.and how you can tell you like helping others. I'm going to build one asap for planer. 92lbs up and.down will not be fun.
What type of plants are those behind you ?
It's bamboo. Not weed! 😂
Plans still available?
Yes, on my website, TrullGallery. Com. There's a link in the video description.
I thought this was a Viagra commercial
I don't have a planer
Well if / when you get one, you now know how to build a stand!
