    I think it's great that you've come to terms with who you are and the sex that you are attracted to, and it's wonderful that you've shared your story and inspired others through that, but why would you say that you're "suffering" like being same-sex attracted is a problem that can be solved? It's not a problem, it's who you are and there's nothing wrong with that

    Amen! What a beautiful witness and testimony! She's got the light of Christ in her. We, as Christians, are not to give in to our struggles but to overcome them. So many things in my life I thought I could never change or thought they were a part of me and what made me me, but God is so good!! He loves us where we are at but He loves us way too much to leave us that way. We are called to a higher purpose and once we realize that, we can truly be happy, even in the midst of our struggles. Call on His name, be humble, and watch Him transform you into the best version of yourself! God bless!

    Can we not treat homosexuality like its some kind of disease or disorder? Completely over the top and not in tune with modern society. I dont think experiencing gay feelings is "horrifying" or "terrible" and acting like not many people go through this. Its 2019 but i feel like im in 2002. Wow

    Thank you so much!!!
    Just because there's a lot of discussion about whether people are born as persons with same sex attractions or it is something that comes from a wound (maybe in your relationship to your sex or body etc), and I'm never really sure about it, what would you say?

    • @michelemowrer5399
      @michelemowrer5399 5 лет назад +1

      Say that even though there is so much we can't possibly understand all we have to know is that God loves us. Avera is not in denial of her attraction. But she acknowledges that is something that definitely goes against God's teachings. Just as a parent of a disabled child is not being punished to have that child it is none the less, I'm sure a struggle. God has His own reasons for why He does things. Just think of those footprints in the sand. The lone set of footprints are Him walking and carrying you when you can't walk beside Him. He never abandons you. Society is quick to be cruel and judge. He, by definition, IS TRUE LOVE. AND TRUE LOVE NEVER DIES. HOLD STEADY!!!!! HE, FOR SURE IS THERE IN THE END AND ALWAYS.

    Personally i’m a bit confused, and I may have misunderstood but is she aware of her attraction and just forcing her feelings inside? Why would God want that for his child? Would he not want every person to prosper and be happy with who they are? To be themselves as long as they treat people with kindness? I understand that everyone suffers differently and it may be part of a journey to make us better people, but I feel like comparing same sex attraction to things like depression and self image is a bit unfair. I am no longer a Catholic, but when i subscribed to this channel in high school I was, and at the time I believed God would love every child of his, and that same sex attraction was not a sin or temptation but an extension of who the person was. I am straight but have so many people in my life who are wonderful that like the same sex, and I don’t believe a loving God would want them to hide that part of themselves. I won’t be unsubscribing, and I still like Paul and most of his messages but watching this woman speak like that about a part of her that can’t be changed made me sad.

    • @tonyromabarian7535
      @tonyromabarian7535 5 лет назад +10

      No, God does not want everyone to be happy with who they are. Who they are without Him is lost. God wants everyone to be happy with who He created them to be, and with whom He is working even now to bring into the renewal of all things. Same-sex attraction is not an extension of who we are, but a particular experience of the brokenness we all share, in different ways.
      Thank you, Avera, for sharing the power of God in your life with us. We all need to let God be God. My prayer every day is, "God, make me someone who wants to do Your will, and give me the desire to love it."

    Why can't she have both. Why can't she be Catholic and have a girlfriend. This is the problem with the Catholic church. You either condemn it or you are out. Jesus would go to her house and have a meal. I really don't feel like the church is accepting of all others. There is so much divide in our world. I'm a little dissapointed. I am glad she has a strong faith, but that doesn't mean she has to sacrafice her happiness outside of her faith.

    • @PaulJKim
      @PaulJKim  Год назад

      It's because of her love of Jesus that she chooses to sacrifice the desire that God explicitly states in the Bible is against His plan for sex and marriage. Of course Jesus would go to anyone's house and have a meal, but He always called sinners to repentance. Have you not read the Gospels? If Christ invites her to deny herself, then surely His love, grace, and promises are worth it, no? "Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me." Luke 9:23. With all due respect to you, the problem isn't the Catholic Church... The problem is that you want God to change before you do.

    Wow… I don’t envy anyone who is gay in our church. I don’t know any heterosexual people in the church who have there sexual life under nearly as much scrutiny as gay people seem to get about whom they want to love. It always seems like gay people have to distinguish love from sex and heterosexual people just get a pass… even when the majority of our culture revolves around heterosexual people opposing celibacy.

  • @jackieschannel4952
    @jackieschannel4952 5 лет назад +6

    I do not agree with hiding who God made you to be. I believe that God created us to love one another... love God, love people and I don't believe that discrimination is part of love. This is everything that I see wrong with the church... when church (religion) encourages people to inflict their own suffering by hiding who God made them to be, there is a problem and this is the human condition... not God! It is not honorable to deny who God made you to be... in fact it is sinning at it's finest. You are basically telling God that you feel he made a mistake when you hide who you are at your core. The attraction God gave you in the form of the desire to love other women is not unhealthy and is not something to be hidden or ashamed of. You are choosing fear instead of love, which is playing on the wrong team as far as I see things.
    Yes there will be suffering and there are crosses to bear in this life. However, crosses (in my opinion) are those things that harm you or others or prevent you from reaching your highest God given potential in life. I don't see how love for another would do those 2 things as long as the love was honest and pure. Avera... I hope you find yourself and begin to truly honor and love yourself & everything God made you to be!

      @@michelemowrer5399 and I pray that you learn to love all as Jesus did and stop judging those who were created different than you. It is not your place to judge someone for their sexual preference. I challenge you to continue your reading of Romans 1 and finish the chapter because you are missing the point that Paul is clearly stating... nobody can ever meet the laws... therefore "Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things." or " As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
      11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
      12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
      13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
      14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
      15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
      16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
      17 And the way of peace have they not known:
      18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
      19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
      20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
      21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
      22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
      23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
      24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
      25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
      26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
      27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
