I’m a 20 year old college student and every day I’m praying that God leads me to my vocation and that He shows me the way. I always believed that i wanted to be married and I still want to get married but that want really scares me and makes me feel like I’m trying to be God. This video really gave me a new perspective. What really touched me was the part when he said that sometimes our wants aren’t all selfish and may be God trying to guide us. Thank you so much for this video. I absolutely love it. I just recently left the Carmelites after 4 years of discernment. Now I'm dating a wonderful woman who I am very happy with. I can second everything said in this video. Leaving the order was an extremely difficult thing to do, but now that I'm out I feel no urge to return.
Wonderful talk! The perpetual discernment has to end. I’ve met amazing Catholics who are forever discerning and who are now in their late 30s- late 40s still discerning and wandering from one path in life to another. Seeking the will of God ought to be our life’s mission, but one has to take a good, hard look at whether that is being used as a cop- out for being non-committal.
Paul -- always love your talks to the teens. I actively work with teens to help them discern their gifts and how God wants them to use them in their vocation in life. I believe it is one of the sure paths to opening teens to a personal relationship with God in Christ. Keep changing lives by leading people to the one who is truly life changing!

I always believed that i wanted to help the elderly who have served my country but i don’t think i’m ready to marry yet, i want to go out and see the world, be with my friends on crazy adventures and do amazing things... yes i want to get married someday, but it really scares me that i have to worry about saving up and paying bills and doing complicated family tasks, This video really gave me some thought. I had been stuck in “perpetual discernment” for like 3 years before I started dating my girlfriend, and when we started dating I had no idea if I was called to marriage or priesthood, but now I can firmly say that God has shown it to be marriage!

I went and did a 1 month observation to this religious community. They were convincing me that I have a vocation for religious life and I do believe them. But everytime I would decide to enter I would feel a conflict building in me. I went out bec 1st, my parents are alone and do not have anyone to take care of them. And now that I’m out I feel more relaxed unlike b4.

I was TOLD by a priest some years ago to pray for a wife or girlfriend. I have no desire to be a priest, I thought about being a monk, but not so sure that is for me. I've been thinking a lot about a woman I go to church with us, but you know, things happen. I'm a little scared, because I have not really been involved with women for about a decade, but, the way I figure it is that if I go to church with her then she might actually have the same morals as me. I had a friend that tried to be a Dominican Friar, it just didn't work out with him , I never bothered asking him why. That's not to say I'm not curious.
I don’t know what to do with my life. God doesn’t seem to be answering me. I don’t know how many more times to cry out to him. He sends me these videos but he doesn’t tell me his specific calling. How can he tell me EXACTLY what I’m supposed to do?
Make a choice, move forward. Like PJ says, he was living with Friars for 3 years when he decided it wasn't for him. He took action and heard the calling to marriage. Ive heard many stories like this. I feel the natural order is to choose God and if the call to a different ministry and vocation are put in your heart, then you can better receive God's message to serve God as a spouse.
The book "Discernment Do's and Don'ts" from fr. George Elliott helped me a lot with that feeling. I don't know your situation, I have been discerning my vocation for ten years now (I started at 13 and now I'm 23 years old) and just recently I have learn to be more patient about it and to let God do His work. In the end everyone path it's diferent.
Just have faith and continue to pray pray pray be patient and wait on the Lord i have found this simple little prayer so powerful ....... LORD JESUS I ABANDON MYSELF TO YOU JESUS YOU TAKE OVER ... Just surrender yourself to His will and let go and let God do not pressure Our Lord for answers just TRUST AND WAIT ON HIM AND GIVE HIM FREE REIGN TO MOVE FREELY IN YOUR LIFE AND AFFAIRS AND I TRULY BELIEVE THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR ANSWERS ....MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS WE PLACE ALL OUR TRUST IN THEE ❤🔥

Maybe you should try to do adoration of the blessed sacrament. Just you and Jesus in silence. Be perseverant.
