Actually Gravity Axe- Grarl can be pretty effective when used in combination with cards like Zero Gravity, No Entry, and Stumbling to trap your opponents monsters in defense position.
I wonder how Rata feels that Hardleg literally uploaded a video yesterday where he used Shooting Star Bow- Ceal to take advantage of Destiny Hero Distopiaguy's effect, popping a card and keeping a sweet 2800 direct attacker.
Singups you say? War of the Worthless you say? All of these decks become playable when you add in a Zodiac Engine and some backrow. As a viewer and potential player in this tournament, I hope the rules make sure to prohibit a rat infestation of any kind.
i hope the list should be limited to cards that have synergy with the archetype, like second toss coin in arcana, or power bond/limiter removal in vehicroids, or heros (not masked, dank law too op....nor making it r4nk) in neos
I'm slightly happy this is the end, so you don't run it into the fucking ground and ruin. Unironically smart idea to end it here, and I hope it's a good finale :)

All guardians should have the effect: "If you control a [Specific Equip Spell], you can tribute the equipped monster and special summon this monster from your hand. Then, equip it with [Specific Equip Spell] from your graveyard. You can only special summon [monster] once per turn this way." While I'm at it... "Guardian Shrine" Field Spell If this card you control would be destroyed, you can banish one "Guardian" monster or equip spell card from your graveyard instead. Once per turn, you can reveal 1 "Guardian" monster in your hand and, if you do, add 1 equip spell card specifically mentioned in the revealed card's text from your graveyard or deck to your hand. If you equip a "Guardian" monster with an equip card, draw 1 card. You can only activate this effect of "Guardian Shrine" twice per turn."
A field spell that when you activate a guardian equip card you summon the corresponding guardian monster , if it’s a lvl 5 or more, you can add the lvl 5 or higher to your hand. Once per turn you can tribute summon a lvl 5 or higher guardian monster by tributing a equip spell card(s) instead. They can also got a link 1 monster this way which is basically summoner monk but searches a guardian spell card instead by discarding a guardian monster once per turn. he also increases attack of all guardian monsters by 300 for each guardian equip spell face up in the field. You can combo this with United we stand.
Just imagine. If your field spell gets destroyed, you can equip it to a face-up 'guardian' monster, it gains 1000 atk and cannot be destroyed by or targeted by card effects. Well, this would be support.
I'm waiting for new Guardian support that fixes the archetype completely. Come on Konami, you made Cyber Darks so much better, you can make Guardians better. EDIT: We got Principug, baby! We got Guardian support!
Same here man. I love Guardians. Don't worry, Rank10's meme magic worked for B.E.S., Amazoness, & Vehicroids. Guardians will get their support eventually. Hopefully sooner than later.
Guardians is not only among the weakest, but also the most forgettable archetypes. It barely classifies as an archetype and judging by how many exceptions they have to make on Arsenal Summoner, they won't touch Guardian supports with a ten foot pole. It was dead when it was released and it's going to stay dead.
Problem is that Elma is still shut out because Butterfly Dagger is banned, and probably will remain banned for all of time(unless someone can get Konami to errata it). It's the same situation with Neo Bubbleman. Neo Bubbleman himself isn't banned, but the card needed to summon him(Metamorphosis) is, and there is no other ways to summon him..
@@StarkMaximum I always saw it as their spirits taking physical form to fight but yeah idk, their equip weapons literally have the same names as them ("Butterfly Dagger - Elma'') which is what lead me to believe they were the weapons also more supporting evidence in Arsenal Summoner since it's effect let's you add a guardian card to your hand (not an equip card) and Arsenal Summoner's art depicts a man summoning a weapon.
You know, in regards to Arsenal Summoner’s long list of exceptions, I think they could’ve shortened it by having it search Guardian effect monsters instead of just Guardian cards. I mean, the equips don’t have Guardian in their names, and none of the cards listed on it are effect monsters, so then they’d only have a few monsters to list, like Gate Guardian. Then again that still wouldn’t future-proof the card, but at least it’s an improvement.
your idea for war of the worthless was completely unexpected and very innovative. the ending scene and how you introduced it were hilarious. you have a great sense of humor I love your videos. great work, keep it up man!
I haven't played Yu-gi-oh since shortly after the release of Gustos and can confirm I find your videos witty, interesting and, especially in this case, painfully nostalgic. Seriously, something about the Guardian weapon names just hit me like a Nostalgia truck and I'm not sure if that's healthy. Regardless, your videos are super cool to get a different sense of perspective for someone who has never experienced post Synchro era Yu-gi-oh.
Would it be terribly overpowered to change their effects to include “when this card is normal or special summoned, equip (insert equip spell) to this card”? It’s so ridiculous that the equip spell needs to come before the monster
The bulk of my yugioh experience comes from the various videogames I've played. The reason I found these vids so interesting is because when collecting cards in these games a large chunk of pack fillers were from these cobbled together archetypes. Growing up I found myself scratching my head trying to build decks out of these archtypes and just wondering wtf Konami were thinking. These videos provided me with much insight and vindication. All I'm all I really appreciate the work you put in to these vids.
Maybe if they added a field spell that makes their summoning condition function like they did in the anime (in which they would be special summoned by just playing their equip spell.) It would make them okay for some casual plays. Instead they just have a huge restriction to overcome.
So there were TWO powerful Vylon plays? I knew that there was one involving Mage Power, Twin Swords Tryce, and Vylon Sigma, but I didn't know about the one with Rod of Silence.
Yeah. Omega loop is pretty damn good, but I prefer putting Sigma on the field and boosting his attack to sky high levels. XD I remember having two Honests in my hand, and Vylon Component, Two Mage Powers and Tryce attached to ye olde Sigma... my butthole clenched for the guy since we were only on the fifth turn. XD
Honestly I wish Guardians kept to the theme of having effects when you have no monsters in the grave yard instead of this bizarre equip requirement theme especially since that was Rafaels strategy
I'm just going to say that, imo, Pure Kaijus could be on LOTW, seeing as they barely can make a play that won't be disrupted in the next turn (Seeing that doing XYZs or Synchros is a mere dream to them, and how they have no way to swarm the field, just by the nature of the cards). They have to use some weird summon with no tribute level 8 monsters, which is something you don't really see often, to make most of the monsters that can make a huge difference in the state of the current meta (I.E the Rank 8 dragon that can just absorb a spell). Of course, you may say that they are good tech choices for dealing with problematic monsters, but the only worthwile one is Gameciel, since you can easily destroy it in the turn you summon it. It is mostly a trolley deck which can't really do much...but Slumber is a really good card to summon some mediocre monsters that will probally turn into beaters if you use your effects once
Ceal spell was used in Cyber Dragon, with Proto and Macchine Duplication and Dreadschyte was reprinted in eff, because it was used in an OTK with Inzektor Exa Beetle
Question: Why does Arsenal Summoner even have those 'Except' clauses, they could finally have a clean text box by just saying "Find a Guardian", holy shit.
Several of the cards Listed as "exceptions" don't have the Guardian word in their names in their Japanese version. Arsenal Summoner can't search them in Japanese but without the exceptions could do so in English. Which is why they had to make those exceptions. Same with Swap Frog/Frog The Jam and Red-Eyes Black Chick/Cards that Summon Red-Eyes cards (The Red-Eyes Black Chick doesn't have the exact same "Red-Eyes" characters in Japanese so it couldn't be searched.) Example, Celtic Guardian is Elf Swordsman in Japanese
>Rename the Guardian Equips to something with a common name among them >Make the Guardians summonable without that stupid restriction >Have the Guardians search a Guardian Equip HARD once per turn on summon >If THEIR Equip is in hand, on the field, or in the GY, you can Special Summon that Guardian and equip their Equip from one of those places, again, HARD once per turn
I enjoy these cause I like watching how a game I haven't played in 14 years has evolved and developed. I enjoy seeing how meta's and power creeps force players to change their decks in order to be competitive as well as the general evolution of a game.
Ideas for Guardian Improvement 1) give them high Defense blockers that are either immune to battle destruction or card effect destruction or both, hell let this those blockers get these effects when they are equipped. 2) Give them retrained Equip spells all with the clause [This card is always treated as *insert Specified Equip card for Guardian*] 3)back row protection (if Dark Magician could get this then so can the archetype that beat him, the retrained equips could act as backrow protection, maybe in a six samurai style where you can pop another equip spell if one is about to be destroyed) 4) To Homage Raphael's "No Monsters in the GY" motto let some of the support allow your guardians to recycle themselves while giving some kind of benefit for not hitting the GY. Hell why not give them a play style that punishes the player for using the GY. especially in the current meta as of this typing the GY is a second deck for most players so switching Guardians to focus on anti-GY set up might make for good disruption while a neat homage to Raphael's philosophy. 5) Give them a ROTA for their equip spells, but make it so that it can equip the spells from the deck directly to a monster, but as a draw back it HAS to be the equip cards the guardians use. 6) Retrain of the Guardians themselves, let's face it the Guardians aren't the best, so retrains of their original cards might be interesting especially if, again, the archetype tries to dedicate itself to a play style
I feel like there's actually a very easy way to make Guardians a functional archetype, thought at this point it would require almost every card to be significantly retrained or errata'd Basically, give the whole archetype a "cursed weapon" sort of theme where the equip cards are detrimental to your opponent's monsters, only slightly useful on your own monsters, and become very powerful when equipped to their respective Guardian. Also, each Guardian can keep the restriction of only being summonable when their equip is active, but give them an effect that lets you transfer the equip card to them.
You did a Shapesnatch cosplay, but didn't even include the bow-tie, which is the actual monster. I am disappoint, Rata. Also it's kinda sad to see the series finish, but looking forward to more great videos.
RANK10YGO Oh crap, why did I miss that. Now I want to know the story of He Whose Shape was Snatched. What could be the lore of this mysterious character...
Did no one notice that Rata said that he cant imagine someone using spell effects to get rid of kay'est when you can attack over it when kay'est cant be attacked? I know its a few years late but better late than never i guess
I really enjoyed your series! And really keep it up. My friends and I are looking forward for more of your content and hopefully you'll make a second season. Thank you for your work!
Celestial Sword - Eatos is called "Holy Sword of the Goddess - Eatos" in the OCG. The "Noble Arms" cards are called "Holy Sword" over there, meaning CS-E's OCG name falls under the archetype, hence the little blurb about it being treated as a "Noble Arms" card.
I don’t play yugioh but whenever I watch a video on it I’m always reminded about how much block text the cards have and how weird it is to see the cards that are excluded from abilities listed on a card.
Shooting Star Bow - Seal was usable in some decks. I used it on a Chimeratech Overdragon OTK deck, it pretty much guaranteed the win so you didn't rely on your opponent having at least one monster in attack position. With the Future Fusion/Overload Fusion combo you'd get a 9000+ ATK Overdragon pretty easily (meaning the -1000 ATK didn't matter, and even then you had Limiter Removal) and then you could just bypass the monsters (and any potential monster related effects like Honest) for a one hit kill. It was usable in slower formats (I'm talking about A LONG time ago). Not great, not particularly consistent, but usable.
Is The One Whose Shape Got Snatched a god? How can Shapesnatch copy a god if that's the case? Why have i watched this series so many times? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS
I can't dislike the Guardians monsters myself because they gave me, a player who was worthless at this game in my teenage years by any tournament's measure, one glorious moment that's about the only moment the whole time I played this game I'll never forget. Circa 2005, I'm dueling a friend of mine. He's got 2000 lifepoints left and a Blue Eyes on the field fueled by Mage Power sitting at probably 5000 attack. I've got a Dark Magician and I'm basically waiting to be beaten before I draw Twin Swords- Tryce. I'm already holding the Shooting Star Bow, switched Magician to attack, dropped both equips on him at once and got in 2000 points of direct damage. Ooooh, it's the happiest memory of this game I have.
The Tryce equip spell can do pretty good in Gustos, since with Daigusto Sphreez on the field, you can keep attacking your opponent's monsters while they take all the damage
To be fair. Yugi was using Archfiend Dark Magician, Black Luster Soldier, Buster Blader, Vanilla Beat Down
Yugi is the best duelist and original series is the best *Kappa*
Lets not forget Celitic Guardians, Kuribohs and Magnet Warriors.
Abraxas phantom beast and red eyes
MrToxicVoltage don't forget the random Egyptian gods thrown in
And yet despite all of that, he removed his copy of magical cylinders a card that could have ended 90% of the waking the dragons duel instantly if he drew into it.

yuuugiii, yoy must summon the celtic guardian
yuuuuuugiiiii the fate of the world depends on it
As much as I love Legacy of the Worthless, I'm glad you're ending it on your own terms. I look forward to what you come out with in the future, whatever form it might take. Thank you for so much Yugioh themed entertainment.
2:32 THIS is why I watch your videos. LOL I love your sense of humor!!
Actually Gravity Axe- Grarl can be pretty effective when used in combination with cards like Zero Gravity, No Entry, and Stumbling to trap your opponents monsters in defense position.
Unless they're playing superheavy samurai's
I wonder how Rata feels that Hardleg literally uploaded a video yesterday where he used Shooting Star Bow- Ceal to take advantage of Destiny Hero Distopiaguy's effect, popping a card and keeping a sweet 2800 direct attacker.
Singups you say?
War of the Worthless you say?
All of these decks become playable when you add in a Zodiac Engine and some backrow. As a viewer and potential player in this tournament, I hope the rules make sure to prohibit a rat infestation of any kind.
Wouldn't Card of Demise also work?
I'm sure the archetypes will be limited to cards shown in each LotW video + a small list of "generic" cards each deck can pull from.
i hope the list should be limited to cards that have synergy with the archetype, like second toss coin in arcana, or power bond/limiter removal in vehicroids, or heros (not masked, dank law too op....nor making it r4nk) in neos
Let's do this! Make Nordics Great Again!
+ShadowBaofu I love Nordics. Trying to make a Nordic Alfar build that can actually work and consistently do its thing.
I'm slightly happy this is the end, so you don't run it into the fucking ground and ruin.
Unironically smart idea to end it here, and I hope it's a good finale :)
Oh yeah no worries about it going stale, because we're just killing it you know like Konami killed this game by adding bad archetypes constantly
Meklords and Genex battled in the final. It was glorious.
So, Rata... Do you worship Thomas the Tank Engine, High Lord of all Trains?
Seriously, your content is extremely funny all the time, but the beginning of this video is possibly the best thing you've ever done. Keep it up!
Shooting star bow ceal is actually pretty good with Destiny Hero Dystopia, enables him to pop and attack directly with his original atk
Penguinvader Also Tryce can be used to make Dystopiaguy have 2 direct attacks of 2800 if you equip both of them and use Dystopiaguy's pop effect
Dragonecro0987 Give Dystopia Tryce and Ceal to make it a double-direct attacker who has 2800. 5600 Direct in a single turn.
Penguinvader or use it on a power bonded cyber twin dragon
I feel like I have to remind you that would drop him from a 2800 single attacker to a 1300 double direct attacker (if equipping both). Edit: Huh... I really need to read the cards carefully XD Now that is an awesome way to use these cards.
+sky shadow nope, dystopia's popping effect makes him reset the attack changes
the Guardian Dreadscythe part actually sort of spooked me 😂
I'ma be real w/u trainman, I'll watch just south of anything you make. Your voice is like dark chocolate; based on how someone described it, you wouldn't think you'd like it, but DAMN is it satisfying...legit. you're clever and I love your voice. SHOW US WHAT YOU CAN DO!
Now Guardians have a royal doggo.
Imagine if the guardian monsters just special summoned themselves if you controlled the equip card, had a consistent searcher, and better equip spells
well theres that one card named woodland spirit which lets you destroy one card equipped to it for 500 damage. combined with elma you got a infinite damage loop
Greulich that helped its case for banning it but the drawing of exodia by summoning gearfried and library was the finishing blow.
Actually no it doesnt, the dagger only returns to hand when destroyed. Woodland sprite sends the equip to the gy as a cost
@@williamdrum9899 That is true now. Back when spirit first came out it just destroyed, therefor creating an infinite damage loop. Konami had to put out a ruling to sepcifically nerf the fucking spirit.
@@greulich9635 Interesting!
@@williamdrum9899 A lot of rules where diffrent back in the day. For example, through the use of encroaching darkness (hope that is the right card name) it was possible to put a monster in face down attack position. There are a lot more weird cards out there.
Facing the archetypes against each other sounds like a great idea! Also, I thought this was your best video so far. You can be really funny :)
gravity axe is good if you use it in prediction princesses or ghostricks. Putting monsters face-down and unable to flip-summon isn't terrible.
Big problem.
How the hell can you equip a face down monster?
Just run concealing light if you want to make them permanent face-down
@@Set2Seth Chopman the desperate outlaw can hold the axe
I adore these videos, honestly the best material I've ever seen in this playerbase/fandom. Love your analysis.
All guardians should have the effect:
"If you control a [Specific Equip Spell], you can tribute the equipped monster and special summon this monster from your hand. Then, equip it with [Specific Equip Spell] from your graveyard. You can only special summon [monster] once per turn this way."
While I'm at it...
"Guardian Shrine"
Field Spell
If this card you control would be destroyed, you can banish one "Guardian" monster or equip spell card from your graveyard instead.
Subscribed for opinions on children's card games, stayed for the memes
I love how when konami brought synchros into duel links, they included kay'est in the vylon pack
They wanted you to do this.
Yeah I would say let them die but they never were alive, Mokey Mokey is an old quirky theme deck worth of some new support.
Amen Brother
Problem is that Elma is still shut out because Butterfly Dagger is banned, and probably will remain banned for all of time(unless someone can get Konami to errata it). It's the same situation with Neo Bubbleman. Neo Bubbleman himself isn't banned, but the card needed to summon him(Metamorphosis) is, and there is no other ways to summon him..
11:51 Ah, the bane of my existence in Reverse of Arcadia.
One madness ends
Only to herald another one coming
The war is coming
Will you be ready?
I think the theme around the guardians wasn't that they had signature weapons, it was that they literally were the weapons spirits.
But they're wielding the weapons in the art.
@@StarkMaximum I always saw it as their spirits taking physical form to fight but yeah idk, their equip weapons literally have the same names as them ("Butterfly Dagger - Elma'') which is what lead me to believe they were the weapons
also more supporting evidence in Arsenal Summoner since it's effect let's you add a guardian card to your hand (not an equip card) and Arsenal Summoner's art depicts a man summoning a weapon.
We have Power of the Guardians now so good thing they didn't.
Then it wouldn't be able to search out Guardian of the Throne Room.
I SWEAR TO GOD DONT END THIS SERIES
your idea for war of the worthless was completely unexpected and very innovative. the ending scene and how you introduced it were hilarious. you have a great sense of humor I love your videos. great work, keep it up man!
Bara Dinosaur Warrior are a combination of words I'd never thought I'd hear, but I'm not complaining.
You can use the Tryce Equip spell in a Superheavy Samurai spell variant. Equip it to Benkei then Machine Dup Benkei for a big beatdown
Or u can use soul glove and soul horns?
@@jaredsplatt8652 yes that's right. The example I put is a shitty gimmicky bullshit.

Shapensnatch skit was amazing!
The intros and endings of these videos along with the sarcastic and hilarious commentary is why I watch these videos.
Maybe if they added a field spell that makes their summoning condition function like they did in the anime (in which they would be special summoned by just playing their equip spell.) It would make them okay for some casual plays. Instead they just have a huge restriction to overcome.
I wonder how much time I've spent rewatching Rata videos from 3 years ago
So there were TWO powerful Vylon plays?
I knew that there was one involving Mage Power, Twin Swords Tryce, and Vylon Sigma, but I didn't know about the one with Rod of Silence.
Yeah. Omega loop is pretty damn good, but I prefer putting Sigma on the field and boosting his attack to sky high levels. XD
I remember having two Honests in my hand, and Vylon Component, Two Mage Powers and Tryce attached to ye olde Sigma... my butthole clenched for the guy since we were only on the fifth turn. XD
Tryce's equip is funny enough good in Mikanko. Double attacking is what they would really enjoy
Honestly I wish Guardians kept to the theme of having effects when you have no monsters in the grave yard instead of this bizarre equip requirement theme especially since that was Rafaels strategy
That would be near impossible unless if you're running a banish deck.
Wow that part near the end really creeped me out lol did not expect that, good video XDXD
Ceal spell was used in Cyber Dragon, with Proto and Macchine Duplication
and Dreadschyte was reprinted in eff, because it was used in an OTK with Inzektor Exa Beetle
Same with Swap Frog/Frog The Jam and Red-Eyes Black Chick/Cards that Summon Red-Eyes cards (The Red-Eyes Black Chick doesn't have the exact same "Red-Eyes" characters in Japanese so it couldn't be searched.)
Example, Celtic Guardian is Elf Swordsman in Japanese
>Rename the Guardian Equips to something with a common name among them
>Make the Guardians summonable without that stupid restriction
>Have the Guardians search a Guardian Equip HARD once per turn on summon
>If THEIR Equip is in hand, on the field, or in the GY, you can Special Summon that Guardian and equip their Equip from one of those places, again, HARD once per turn
are you quitting so you can focus on your pot of greed series?
He will find out what does it do
You are my favorite RUclipsd bro. Accent and quality just fit perfect to mesh a great ball of entertainment
Legacy of The Worth It Confirmed?
*Legacy of the Worthy
I enjoy these cause I like watching how a game I haven't played in 14 years has evolved and developed. I enjoy seeing how meta's and power creeps force players to change their decks in order to be competitive as well as the general evolution of a game.
Ideas for Guardian Improvement
1) give them high Defense blockers that are either immune to battle destruction or card effect destruction or both, hell let this those blockers get these effects when they are equipped.
2) Give them retrained Equip spells all with the clause [This card is always treated as *insert Specified Equip card for Guardian*]
3)back row protection (if Dark Magician could get this then so can the archetype that beat him, the retrained equips could act as backrow protection, maybe in a six samurai style where you can pop another equip spell if one is about to be destroyed)
4) To Homage Raphael's "No Monsters in the GY" motto let some of the support allow your guardians to recycle themselves while giving some kind of benefit for not hitting the GY.
I feel like there's actually a very easy way to make Guardians a functional archetype, thought at this point it would require almost every card to be significantly retrained or errata'd
Basically, give the whole archetype a "cursed weapon" sort of theme where the equip cards are detrimental to your opponent's monsters, only slightly useful on your own monsters, and become very powerful when equipped to their respective Guardian.
That's not Shapesnatch
He is the one whose shape was snatched
Therefore no bowtie
RANK10YGO
Oh crap, why did I miss that.

Yeah you can attack over it, by that he meant attack directly. I didn't have an issue understanding it
The audio was definitely replaced in the intro. Can't imagine how bad it must have been for Rata to go out of his way sync up new shit in post.

I really enjoyed your series! And really keep it up. My friends and I are looking forward for more of your content and hopefully you'll make a second season. Thank you for your work!
I would rail that mermaid tho.
Obligatory "Fuck 2016 RIP" comment
I don’t play yugioh but whenever I watch a video on it I’m always reminded about how much block text the cards have and how weird it is to see the cards that are excluded from abilities listed on a card.
What about
" Guardian angel Joan"
"Guardian statue"?
Can't wait for the tourney :)
The Tryce equip spell can do pretty good in Gustos, since with Daigusto Sphreez on the field, you can keep attacking your opponent's monsters while they take all the damage
Now it's time for the Legacy of the MANLY
MOKEY MOKEY FIRST.
Eatos is basically a budget Train Card. I mean it is basically just a level 10 that can special itself from Hand.
