Thanks man, I appreciate that! I felt that it was import to document the thought process for identification and bring everything full circle with the kill off of the saplings.
I have a customer with a huge maple seedling problem. I wanted to to try triclopyr on a small scale to see if it would work. I applied Weed B Gon Chickweed, Clover & Oxalis Killer which includes triclopyr. I mowed the lawn four days later and saw no effect, but when I came back yesterday, eleven days after application, I saw mass die off of the seedlings. The ortho product in the hose end sprayer bottle would be good for a small area where you do not want to mix your own. I may look into crossbow herbicide, which blends triclopy and 2,4 D. That probably kills everything bad including dandelions, plantain, wild violet, creeping charlie and woody plant seedlings!
I so appreciated the apocalyptic tone in the beginning 😂 that's how I feel looking at my yard--just moved into this new house and there are a variety of woody weeds *everywhere* through what would otherwise be really nice grass. I'll have to figure out what grass it is and then hopefully be able to take care of it. Thanks for the video!
Enjoyed the video and I'm hoping I can do that same treatment for my sucker issue as I have too many to dig up but I don't want to kill the lawn grasses either. Do you know if that this way will kill suckers off of crab apple trees we took out of our lawn? We have a million suckers coming up from the old tree roots. I have purchased Crossbow herbicide so not sure if that will kill the grass or not. It's 34% 2-4 D , 16% triclopyr BEE so still trying to find out. THANKS
If you have a cool season lawn 2-4D and triclopyr are safe to use without damage to the lawn when applied correctly. I am not confident that it eliminate suckers because those are from a much larger root system that Im not sure triclopyr has enough power to eliminate.
I'm not sure of the type of ivy that you have but I'm pretty sure that this will kill or damage it pretty good. I do not recommend using this around your ivy.
This video was super helpful! I have oak tree saplings that are taking over my fescue lawn. Can I use triclopyr and azprop (fungicide) at the same time? Or should I alternate applications?
There is not a single video for that answer due to there being a process and steps over time that are needed. Have a number of videos and Livestream discussions on my channel that provide information to help you get the results you want. If you wanted to do a full renovation and start over completely for a cool season grass type you can take a look at this video: ruclips.net/video/-RDdvveYoM4/видео.html Thanks for watching and let me know if you have additional questions.
If you were moving into a new house and wanted to do a full renovation to establish you own practices so you’re able to identify issues whether human error or not what grass type would you use? Also would having two separate types of grass in front and backyard be too much work?
The grass type would depend on where I am located. I would pick a grass type that was suitable for my location and environmental conditions. I don't think managing 2 different types would be too difficult if you have the time and can have duplicate equipment....like 2 sprayers. I would not use the same sprayer for products for warm season and cool season grass types.
@@ElevatedLawnscapes is your mixture of tf and kbg a manufacturer blend or did you ratio it yourself? From what I understand tf mixed with kbg is good because kbg takes longer to germinate so the tf acts as a protector while the kbg matures.
@@sirsmalls4565 Its a mix that I did myself. The reason that you listed is one of the benefits of doing a KBG and TTTF mix. There are some others also.
Legally any branches that hang over to your property you can cut, I would suggest talking to you neighbor and asking if he minds if you trim it back a few first as most neighbors will be alright with that but you always have the nuclear option of cutting what hangs on your side. Tripclopry is likely your best bet tho
Yep, you are right but the there are 2 of them and the 2nd one is easily 40-50' tall. The seeds will still end up falling across the fence. At least, I know I have a solution for them next year.
Nice work Cam! I wish we could get Triclopyr up where I am at, but our state has it banned unless you're a licensed herbicide applicator. It's too bad because I have had a hell of a time trying to control creeping charlie, and everyone says Tri is the way to go for control. Keep workin!
Great video! Question…the trees that are causing the saplings in my yard are next to my grass. I went ahead and cleared out the area down to dirt and was wondering if I sprayed it with the herbiside….1) would it hard the large trees in my yard, 2) would it be smart to spray it before I lay sod?
If you have cleared out the saplings i do not see a need for you to spray a herbicide. The herbicide needs to come in contact with the saplings to be effective.
Just watched your video and hoping this may work for the problem I have. We had a black locust tree that was cut down last year and this year we noticed a multitude of saplings starting to grow everywhere...in our lawn, garden beds and it has spread around our house. Is this Triclopyr available in Canada? If not, what would you suggest we try...we are desperate and the situation is not good.
I am not familiar with the laws in Canada but I know that many herbicides are restricted there. I have experience with Triclopyr and it works well on saplings and woody plants. My apologies but i do not have another suggestion at this time for you to try if Triclopyr is not available. If do find or hear of another option I will let you know. Thanks for watching.
Man I've been fighting this, my neighbor that stays behind me, we share a fence and her stuff grows over the fence and drops on my yard and comes up in my lawn.
This is the first year that it has been this bad for me. Usually it is just a few here and there that go away after a couple of mows. Not this year! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for making this video. I have had this problem with a tree on my front lawn that has me going crazy. I have ordered the two chemicals and plan on using them this upcoming week. I would like to ask you do I cut the grass first and then apply or apply anytime? Thank you in advance. GILBERT
Nice work. Your thoughts please Cam. Just about ready to Tank mix some Azoxystrobin/Propiconazole with some Humic/Potassium/Kelp for some up coming heat & rain cycle, preventive fungus. Is it better to apply before the rain or after ? Your thoughts. Thanks.
I would get your fungicides down before the rain. I would apply you biostimulants in another application after your fungicides are watered in. Thanks for watching!
American Beech was heavy this year for me, little saplings everywhere in my TTTF, but I'm strictly organic so manually pulling was the only option. Time consuming and painful on the back but think I finally beat them.
I understand. This would have been an heck of a job to do by hand pulling they were scattered throughout the entire lawn. Im glad you got them beat 👍🏾! Thanks for watching 🙏🏾!
Now , if we can get someone to come up with a recipe to remove POA annua we just might have another billionaire. 🤣. I'm rolling with it and believe it came from the bagged topsoil I spread end of last season. Temps haven't been hot enough yet to get rid of it. I have never seen this much POA in my life. Just know, SuperTA will get it right. 🍻👊🏼
This was a good one Cam. Way to represent our thought processes and how we use our resources when we find an issue in the lawn. Lawn is looking good!

Yeah the label says you can roll it with 2-4-d. That's probably a deadly combination for weeds
Hello Cam I’m glad you figured out what plant it was growing in your lawn and was able to get the right product to remove them 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾✨

thank you for the information....i assume this would work on live oak saplings here in north texas.....
I would assume so.

You mixed Simple Grow Solutions with the Tryclopyr…please explain.
Its a non-ionic surfactant that helps the product "stick" to leaf blade of the plant better.

Does this product work with trees that spread via their root system, like Aspens?
Aspen is listed on label to be controlled by this product.
Thanks, bro! That was helpful.

would this work for crape myrtles? I had mine removed and they've growing all over the place from it's roots.
I would think so but check the label.
I get the same prob w a black oak

Should I use triclopyr 4 or high yield for my grass? I have the same issue caused from a Bradford/callery pear tree.
First off make sure you have a cool season grass type. Triclopyr 4 and the High Yield Triclopyr is the same thing just different brands.
