What’s the actual notional risk of these trades? The /6E slide implies you’re taking $32,000 of risk for your $1,200 in BPR. 7 such trades means you’re taking about $200k of risk in your $25k account. That’s scary.

Is this true? You have the option on a future. You’ll get the future in case of assignment which you can still sell on a liquid market. That is my understanding.

It doesn’t matter what your notional is

@@KC-nb3mm It does when evaluating risk. A mere 10% loss I totally wipes you out at this level of leverage.

@@headlibrarian1996 10% loss on 200k of notional? If you sell to open an Iron condor on SPX and your max loss is $1500, why does it matter what your notional is? The same logic applies for ES

@@headlibrarian1996 10% loss on these commodities and etfs would be scary for everyone. Highly doubt you'd see that unless you get covid 2.0.
Point is manage your risk even if the potential loss is unlimited, follow the strategy and cut when you need to cut.

He is on a mission to help people trade their accounts with more diversification and be less exposed to wild market swings. He is already crazy wealthy (since selling Think or Swim to TD Ameritrade for $700m). He is a brilliant person who can’t sit still and enjoys his work, he isn’t on a mission to scam people into churning their accounts at Tastyworks brokerage.
