The 2023 Nissan Rogue Platinum Is A Luxurious Compact SUV With A New Turbo Engine

  • The #NissanRogue has always been one of the best-selling compact SUV's in America. Back in 2021, #Nissan gave us a fully redesigned #Rogue that really raised the bar for the brand. For 2022, the Rogue gets a new engine under the hood, the first-ever variable compression #Turbo 3-Cylinder making 201 HP and 225 lb-ft of torque. It makes this latest #RoguePlatinum among the quickest vehicles in the segment and allows the vehicle to make a unique sound when you're pushing this engine hard.

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! Amazing what a difference a new engine can make and while we liked the new Rogue when we first drove it a couple years ago, the 3-cylinder turbo VC-T in this model makes this a much quicker and slightly more efficient daily driver. Now if only, Nissan could bring back a hybrid version...

For those who are curious the CVT changes for 2022/23 is they are using a woven chain "Belt" Vs an all metal belt to drive the CVT which should help alot with longevity, it also has an additional Oil Pump in the Transmission. One for low speed operation, one for high speed operation

Theres not telling how Long the 1.5L 3 cylinder Turbo Engine will last. The Natural aspirated 2.5 4cylinder From the Altima That was Sandwiched into the rogue for 2021 had 181HP and 181LB tq and the 0-60 Time for That was 8.1 seconds while this Turbo Engine is roughly 7.7-7.8 seconds so It’s better to have a 2.5 4cylinder non Turbo so it doesn’t Wear out faster and will last longer.

I don’t think the majority of vehicle buyers are “enthusiasts” either. I would buy this over the boring Toyota RAV4 and underwhelming Honda CRV.

We just bought a 24 SL AWD with the premium package. We are very pleased. It’s getting a combined 34mpg , the three cylinder is really smoother than I thought , and we haven’t noticed any vibrations at all.
I was a little nervous about its reliability going forward. But the dealer gives a lifetime warranty on the power train as long as we own it. I’ll most likely let the dealer do the general maintenance to assure that they’ll honor the warranty.
One other thought: I felt like the SL with the premium package was a solid deal. One gives up the heads up display and the rear heated seats along with the Diamond stitched tan leather. We took the lighter oyster colored grey so it’s much brighter inside than the charcoal imo.
    Great, informative video

  • @gfusco2008

I have a 22 SL with the premium package. The 1.5T 3 cylinder is pretty awesome but it does not like to go full out. You're right about the slight vibration. Also, the stated fuel economy is really hard to achieve even in eco mode. I love it though! It's quiet, comfortable and does what I expect from a crossover. It has more features than the CRV and Rav4 too. I dumped a CX-30 Turbo for this and don't regret it at all. That was a head scratcher after I had it for a couple months. It wasn't a hot hatch and failed as a crossover in duty. I had better storage in my Alfa Giulia with the seats down. I'd recommend the Rogue to anyone looking.

    • @navi_exl
      @navi_exl Год назад +1

The rogue is a nice entry level to what an infinity Crossover/ SUV would be. My grandma has a 2021 platinum with the red exterior color and she’s owned it for one year so far and currently at almost 8,000 miles and she’s noticed that the 2.5 4cylinder That was Updated for 2021 is faster off the line compared to her 2019 SL rogue FWD was. I think It’s probably 1.5 seconds faster 0-60 than the older 2.5 From the 2017-2020 Rouges. She doesn’t have the 2019 SL cause it was a lease for 3 years so she Upgraded to the 2021 and that was the only new 2021 Model rogue the dealership had in stock when her 2019 SL lease was up.

The Acura dealership where I bought it. Did all the service on it. Then they became neglectful. Looking over parts and telling me everything checked out good. Which where lies. Just recently they discovered my head gasket was blown and repairs would cost $3,000+. I had to get rid of it very disappointed in their service. I decided to leave that dealership. Test drove an SV Premium last month and I was thoroughly impressed with it. Thing is, you don’t really need to floor it to get maximum power and acceleration. From a dead stop, this will get up and go with just a little bit of put down from the gas pedal. I tested this in both Auto and Sport modes. Really quick off the line, so I’m betting anything that if you just accelerated normally, you probably would have gotten a slightly better 0-60 time. Just saying.
If I could afford one, I would totally buy one, but even the base S trim is expensive as blazes. Still it would make a good addition to anyone’s driveway, I think. Just remember to take good care of the CVT and you’d be set.

We have nine or ten of the 2022 Rogue SV in our fleet. The ride is so more comfortable than the older version. The OEM tires have a very short life. In the snowy season and you bump a curb, the tie rods break easily and you are looking at a repair over $3,000. This happened with a third of our Rogues so far this winter.

I have two car seats back there, so safety is pretty high on my list. The window in the rear door even worked! (well, halfway until the window collides with the steel 😂) Between its apparent crashworthiness, and the fact that the car performed at 8 years as well as it did brand new, not a single mechanical issue, I see no reason not to buy another Rogue. I am the least brand loyal person on the planet, I've never owned the same make twice. But I don't see a more compelling compact crossover out there, and I absolutely was not ready to let my 2015 go. In California (Sacramento area), the asking price for a RAV4 is nearly $10K above MSRP, and the hard-to-find CRV not so steep but still many thousands above MSRP. I got a '23 Rogue SL AWD with Premium Package for just under MSRP + destination at $39.5K. It's a fantastic vehicle inside and out with amazing features and a great driving experience. My only complaint is that it doesn't get nearly the EPA estimated gas mileage of 31/34 MPG; I'm averaging about 23 MPG with 95% highway driving by my own miles/gallons calculations, not relying on the overly optimistic built-in mileage tracker.

I got a 2022 Platinum about a month ago. I was very apprehensive concerning the new engine so, I got an extended warranty. CVT transmissions don't bother me at all. I'm an older man who drives conservatively. I've had 3 Jatco CVTs and I've not had a problem as of yet. I traded a fully loaded 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander for the new Rogue so, I had a NICE SUV. This Platinum Rogue is AMAZING! She rides and drives like a dream! 0-60, I could care less about but, where the variable compression shines is passing someone doing 50 MPH or so. It will sit you back in your seat! It is just tuned for real life driving conditions,, ( it will get you out of a problem situation). My sister has a new Lincoln Aviator. Of course this is a luxury SUV but my new Rogue is very comparable when it comes to the handling, safety options and most of all the interior design! Quilted leather seats are beautiful and the layout is intuitive. DOWNSIDES: There is no air conditioned seats! (WTH)? It didn't come with a tonto cover for the luggage area! $280 for that if you are interested. My biggest bitch is that I have to plug my Android the port for connectivity! What the hell Nissan? Half of the people on the planet have an Android! Now this is not a deal breaker but! Obviously you an Apple are banging each other on the side! Same way with my Frontier! Done with that part... One more thing. Since my Platinum was a 2022 and came in on the same truck as all of the SV 2023s ,,, the dealership had already knocked off $1,000 from the asking price. I went to the dealership 3 times and walked away all 3. When I got home the 3rd time my guy sent me a message that the GM would pay my taxes for the car if I bought it. That was $2,300. So, bought it the next morning. I'm very happy thus far. Good luck and if you are looking for a really cool SUV AWD that gets 34 MPG... You can't go wrong with this Rogue. Rev

The reviews from Australia and the UK describe the Rogue hybrid (X-trail there) as a near perfect driving SUV power plant that just doesn’t quite get the fuel economy expected from a hybrid, but the drive experience is a dream. I’d delay buying a Toyota, Lexus or Lincoln PHEV for a year or two if I believed AWD ePower Rogue were coming to our market.

Cooled seats is mainly a marketing slogan. There is no coolant or freon running through the seats to provide "cooling." Seats in almost all vehicles are ventilated (fans/forced air) to give a cooling feel from moisture evaporating from your body. So, the proper term is ventilated seats, even though you often hear otherwise... Good review though.

Comment for Nissan - Whoever thought it was a good idea for the shift to be in reverse when you push it all the way forward needs to be fired. If you have been driving for 38 years like I have, all the way forward HAS BEEN PARK FOR DECADES. Either make park all the way forward or go to completely push button or dial or something different. This hybrid of a shifter and push button is dangerous. I don't drive her car everyday, so I have put it in reverse thinking it should be in part probably 10 times. It's idiotic and needs fixed

I did own a 2021 Nissan Rogue SV with premium package AWD. The transmission was jerking at 28k miles already. At speeds over 65MPH I felt a little bit of jerking and when I drive slow and accelerate it jerked pretty bad. I traded it in for a 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL premium package AWD since I own a 2017 Hyundai Sonata with over 130k miles on it already. The Santa Fe is great so far I love the wireless android auto, the full digital dash, and it shifts way smoother with the 8 speed than Nissans CVT. I guess the CVT's are still crap still after years of complaints. I wanted to give Nissan a chance but it was a let down.

Turbocharged THREE cylinder 1.5 liter engine with a CVT. We are in automotive hell. I hail from a liter country and what makes sales of this pos possible in the USA is that 90% don't really understand what a liter is. We used to have wheelbarrows with 3 cylinder engines. Buy a liter soda and look real hard at it. That volume is a liter. I can drink it in one gulp. Now add 1/2 to it.
That's what you buy when you go down this road. That engine just cannot survive beyond 50 000 kilometers. I said kilometers. In miles it will probably be "turbo" cooked at 50 000.

For a brand that doesn't sell hybrids, they have to find other ways to comply with strict governments around the world. You don't necessarily need an even number of cylinders for 'balance' hence in-line 5-cylinders have been a thing for a long time; and 3 cylinders are for sale in other New cars sold today.
