Ahlan ya Ustaz Rami. Alf shukr lil video! It is super interesting.
I'm currently writing a paper for one of my linguistics classes which is about the way you pronounce the R in the Moslawi dialect and some other Iraqi dialects. My claim is that this is typical for Mesopotamia because there is also evidence that R was pronounced like this in Akkadian thousands of years ago, and probably in Aramaic as well.
I've already read articles about Iraqi dialects with this kind of guttural R, but it is so cool to actually hear it from an Iraqi.
All the best!
Yesss looking forward to this new series!
❤️❤️🇮🇶
This is super interesting. Thank you for sharing! I grew up with two Arabic dialects at home so I relate to the switching dialects bit

I would say however that in moslawi/قحي, some of the Bs turn to Ps, so 6oba because 6apee.

Interestingly, Baghdadi Jews' speech is similar to Moslawi in its pronunciation of ر and ق, but some other aspects you mentioned aren't, like the word carpet. So I guess you kind of speak like a Jew. Do you also pronounce ظand ث ذ like in Fusha?
Yes possibly lots of similarities. And yes we pronounce the letters u mentioned like in fusha
They say that the dialect of Baghdadi Jews was the original dialect of Baghdad before the plague that hit Baghdad in 18 century

Rami, about your book, it focuses on grammar or daily expressions, both I'm interested.
Mainly daily expression it’s a phrase book that will help you to be able to hold a small conversation
@@ramitheiraqi2257 thank you, I'll Buy it :)
Some of Moslawi words have the Assyrian origin. Example هدي (slowly) in Assyrian is the same word, غشع in Assyrian we گشق (Look) and دودية (Swing) in Assyrian we call a baby cradle دودية
My father was born and raised in Baghdad but then had to move to his grandmother in Mosul. I'm wondering now if I ever heard him speak any words in the moslawi dialect when talking with family on the phone. 🤔
great!!
Thank u
Seems like Moslawis are the French of Iraq :)
Any thought where the pronunciation difference come from? I've never heard of any other Arabic dialect that pronounce R as the French.
Yea lol. I would say it’s closer to Levantine Arabic. But I am not sure where it came from
Rami The Iraqi خصوصا مبين في كلمات مثل طبي وبيغدي.
Most likely from Aramaic.
@@ShayPatrickCormacTHEHUNTER Even in Southern Iraq the Arabic they speak has strong Aramaic words
Nice one
