Go Share function on the DJI Smart Controller

- One of the new features of the Smart Controller is the Go Share function. I wasn't sure how well this would perform at first, but once I tested it, the transfer speed is really fast. This app allows you to transfer files and footage extremely fast by connecting the Smart Controller to your mobile phone via dedicated wifi signal given off by the Smart Remote.

*** NOTE: You can transfer all 4k, raw and jpeg images from the Mavic 2 to the remote via file transfer function on the DJI Smart Controller. The Go Share option is used to transfer from Drone/Remote to your mobile device which at this point in time (Jan 18, 2019) only transfers 1080 video and high res jpeg. This could possibly be updated in the future to include 4k and raw with a software update.

FIRE!!!!! I am waiting for my Smart Controller now that got held up in Memphis by customs for two days. Should be here Monday 1/28 and I can not wait!! Finally bought the smart controller for my MA2. Thought there might have been an easier way to download pic vs the 3 or 4 steps it takes. I guess not. Thanks brother for covering things we're all going to need sooner or later.

Thanks bro, really helped me with this one. Been having issues connecting the Android Smart Controller with my IOS phone. Been trying with Bluetooth connection and just figured it was not working because the two systems did not like each other. But now managed to connect and transfer through the GoShare app. Cheers! :)

Pretty good app. A bit clunky to connect the first time, but seems to work. Sharing videos and photos immediately is an important feature. I was on site for a video shoot of some real estate property and need to confirm something with the client. Sending a few photos cleared thing out right away and I completed the shoot.

Looking forward to hearing more about SkyTalk and Social Media streaming. Without a cellular SIM how does the controller access (GPS) maps or social media sites? Perhaps you must tether your phone's WiFi ?
How do you access the videos on the SD card using the Go Share function? it doesn't list them in the video area.

I just ordered the 2 pro with smart controller bundle 8-14-19 and I am excited. When you upload footage to phone through wifi does this degrade the quality of the footage?

you need your wifi settings in the "Smart Controller go share settings" to either 5 or 2.5Ghz . I couldn't get this to work for me, then I changed it to 2.5ghz and now it works great

Hi guys, may I know if we need two Micro SD cards simultaneously, one for the aircraft and the other for the controller? Or we just need one? When we need to transfer video or photo from the aircraft’s to the controller, we just take the card from the aircraft to the controller?
When using the Go Share feature, when it’s transferred to the mobile device, is it still highest quality video/photo? Or is it cache quality (lower)? Thanks.

ok, but HOW do you get the full res files off the internal storage of the smart controller onto a mac? I have tried to transfer it to an sd card in the controller and it won't do that. I would think that would be more important to people than putting it on your phone. Who is shooting with 1500-2000 drones to create an instagram post? That is super bizarre.

Hi sir, i just purchased DJI Smart Controller for my Mavic Air 2, i do used Go share function to download to my mobile device, one thing i'am wondering since i have delete all the footage from my drone memory and controller as well, when i used go share function , i still able to download the footage from the controller again. Is so weird, i try to search every album inside, all empty, i wonder where those footage store?

It is but you would be using the Pilot app not the Go4 app
How about an update using the smart controller with the Mavic Air 2. The Mavic Adair 2 can only use the DJI Fly app and I don’t think this share feature, and a number of other ones, are available using the smart controller with Fly app. I just picked up a smart controller for my Mavic Air 2 and I’m pretty disappointed in the lack of features, however I do like the bright screen.

I can’t seem to get my pictures from my smart controller to my iPhone X. When I try to scan the QR code, it just keeps scanning and does nothing?
Using your technique to try and get videos from smart controller to iPhone but when I try and connect using the q code it says unable to connect. I have connected manually using Bluetooth but cannot get to the videos on the drone/ smart controller. Driving me mad!!
My one question is: Do i have to pull the card from the drone every time? Or can i pull the footage wirelessly from the drone to the smart controller?
you dont need to pull the memory card. i put a second card in the controller to store video/pics
When I download images from my smart controller to my phone it transfers cached images that I didn't select for the download. Is there anyway I can stop this? Tedious having to go through my gallery everytime. Thanks in advance

So this is just a general question. I'm a beginner to this interesting hobby. I'm in California. I want to purchase the mavic pro. And controller. Do I have to register this with the government or other agency? It is just for my private use. Second.......... I live within a few blocks of small regional airport. ( all small planes NO jets) does that make a difference? I read yes you have to register then I read No you don't have to. Give me the answer. Before I plop down 2K. Thanks. Kim
How does the size of the smart controller screen compare to using your iPad?
Dave Cavanaugh : if it is anything like the Crystal Sky, then it is much better than the iPad. After using the Crystal Sky, I will never go back to using an iPad.

I carnt get mine to download even when i turn bluetooth on with the rc remote my phone carnt find the remote and the how is the remote ment to find my phone
So I just tried to open the DJI GO 4 app and it crashes and won't open.... I ended up going to DJI's website, dled the app directly, connected to same wifi, yet they won't connect via the QR code 😕
Can it be set up to dl to a MacBook please? My phones memory is minute so pointless sending it there.

I’m on the fence on which one I should buy, 7:85 in crystal sky or this new controller. I like it a lot just don’t think the screen is big enough. Almost same price. I really like the all in one, reminds me or my blade chroma controller. Thanks Alden keep it up!
D Gaines the Crystal Sky is a better choice, in terms of size
Crystal sky is better for now to work with earlier Drones but this will be sweet next year when most drones are on Occusync 2.0

Nice tutorial but the Go4 app already does this on the regular controllers. So wondering why DJI makes a big deal of it. Now if it transferred the 4 k that would be a different story. I guess it’s another marketing strategy?
Lon Denard the steps I take to transfer pics is to make sure I have that option on in the go4 app so that’s automatic, no steps necessary. This option puts the photos right onto my device, iPhone 8 plus. As for the video which is in 1080, before I close the Go4 app I click on the editor, batch select the videos and hit save to device. So literally 4 clicks and they’re all on my device; which then uploads to all my other devices through iCloud. Not sure the SR is any more streamlined than that unless I’m missing something?

Hey can you use the smart controller and the RE goggles at the same time?
Because they both connect to Occusync 2, it may not be able to stream video to two different devices. I've posted this 3 time on different locations and no one has anwerered it in three days. Not a good sign.

This seems worthless to me. Why pay top dollar for a 4k drone only to automatically downgrade it to 1080p? Odd.
