The 3rd party apps many pilots really need, such as Drone Deploy, Pix4d, Google Maps, etc, won't work without Googe Play or using sketchy sources. Never worked on CrystalSky, so won't work here on their customized OS. Be nice if DJI's own software such as GSpro were compatible as well, but yeah, they have 3rd party app support, not.

Got my drone sunday, been trying to do this ever since. 51 minutes total fly time, 40+ hours on smart controller 3rd party apps. You saved my controller from me Rooting it and compile and install my own Android kernel. Looks like “KingoRoot” has a potential, just saying. Eh I’ll work with Amazon, but rooting the controller is committed to the back of my mind..There is a Huawei cellphone (not sold in USA) that has just about the same tech specs, as the device in the Smart Controller. But there are also some Galaxy phones with the same “hardware” specs. I think the Android kernel might be able to date the age of the hardware. It’s about the only thing that makes sense. Interestingly Dji has their own wifi and bluetooth chips, and MAC addresses. I can look up MAC addys and sometimes the parent company owns the address, and not the name of the assembler on the box. Nope, wireless chips say Dji. Ya have to know your hardware to compile Linux kernels, wether PC, Mac, or some embedded app for some device, gotta know what needs to be addressed. If I had to judge by the screen what “mobile device” is in the controller, seems is a Galaxy w/ 32gb. Galaxies have SD card slots and a sim card slot. Rooting your device should open up some possibilities. Like, User level power management, give yourself 10 clicks to turn down the screen instead of five, or an analog type knob. Drone pilots are used to a fully functional mobile device, attached to the controller. So the Smart controller should reflect a mobile device without cell though so you don’t have to have a carrier. I’m sure somehow the Amazon workaround for Dji will disappear one day. I contacted Dji support regarding installing 3rd party apps, they said “they’ll get back to me.” I wonder what that means? Now that my Smart controller issue is cleared up, it the weather’s turn! I wonder how many folks don’t have power...

@@OriginaldoBo it's OS implementation is it's weakest point. Google play services kneecaps so many apps that it's target audience uses and some just don't work at all. Not sure a firmware update could even fix it.
I was out flying earlier with the smart controller, have you found any more hidden features? I’m bored. Amazon offers a lot of apps without any google services attached(smart controller doesn’t like google stuff). I still can’t get litchi to work or skywatch 😞. I realize this video is old, I’m slow.

Swipe left or right from the edge of the screen. A side window will pop up, and show the apps that are open, and running. Swipe up on the app you want to stop.

@@bigshotmedia - Getting the app to work; I assume you mean Google play.. I use APKPure.com, and installed the APK Pure app from there. I then use that app to install other apps. I installed a gesture app, so that I can assign swipe gestures to the smart controller functions. The APK Pure app is like Google play.

Literally I just sideloaded the Google play store on mine and it was super easy, the Smart Controller is based on the the Rockchip RK3399 SoC!

I often use Litchi en downloaded it also via Amazon, but then Litchi doesn't connect to the Mavic 2 Zoom.

You cannot use Google Play services on the smart controller so drone apps are no good because they all require Google maps services

You won't get it to work because it needs to use Google maps. The smart controller does not allow Google Play services
