I'm back, listening for a second time after months of watching the 1988 footage of it all . . . Linzi & Betty were the absolute BEST & I'm so glad their work was preserved. It's Beautiful & I'm glad Linzi claims it proudly!
Over the last month I've come to also love the Barbara Cook performances. It is all Golden and i bless Barbara Cook's participation. And i want an opera house to give me an insanely grand mashup of both the 1988 and the 2012 versions. All the songs. All of them. That Will be My Heaven. 💕
I get the impression that it was Betty and Linzi that the audience loved... and probably mainly Betty. Doesn’t surprise me! Betty Buckley is awesome...even today at 71! I love her!
This show was ASTOUNDING! The Producers had no balls.Audiences were on their feet CHEERING and SCREAMING. Yes it was like 2 different shows and it was jarring, but could have been fixed. It would have had a long run but nobody had the balls to keep it going . I've seen endless amounts of Great Bway shows since then and NOTHING has surpassed the artistry and thrilling performances of B.Buckley and L. Hatley. PS: Debbie Allen's choreography should have been burned, buried, dug back up and then drowned!

She matched B.Buckley in every way imaginable. Astounding duo!!!
Fascinating, although she could have said that a production that sold out every performance doesn't deserve to be defined as a "flop"!
