Kate Bush - Adam Buxton & Sharon Horgan
Sharon Horgan chooses one of Kate's lesser-known songs, You're The One, as one of her break-up songs for Adam Buxton's Big Mixtape on BBC 6Music. They have a sweet discussion about how good Kate's music is.

Do Me A Favour Montage - Carrie the Musical
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.14 лет назад
Also spelt "Do Me A Favor". I've put together a montage for this underrated song from Carrie the Musical using promo photographs, footage from rehearsals, Stratford and Broadway. Some tiny lip sync issues, but I hope any "bleeders" out there enjoy it. Sally Ann Triplett as Sue Paul Gygnell as Tommy Charlotte D'Amboise as Chris Gene Anthony Ray as Billy Linzi Hateley as Carrie Betty Buckley as M...

Carrie the Musical - Sally Ann Triplett BBC Radio Interview

A slightly sneering featurette on Carrie the Musical, including an interview with Sally Ann Triplett. Highlighting the lack of producer interested, she is credited as playing Amy Irving(!) and not Sue. Sadly, she doesn't have the fondest memories... No copyright infringement is intended. And Eve Was Weak (Stratford Production)
this song is so good i dont care what people say! it is so powerful!
I fell into a Carrie hole tonight- parts of revised, then discovered this 1988 gem! I heard this version of In before listening to the 2012 version... was sorely disappointed with the new one. I like the 80s workout vibe that this one has, wish they would've kept it!
Idk why every high school productions not add the part where Carrie says pray for salvation, or he will burn you
The 2012 revival eats shit compared to this masterful staging and orchestrations...
The music is as good as the climax of the prom scene in the movie, if not better omg
Personally, I think this version is better than the 2012 version. It's very haunting and a bit scare. It just gives the impression that something horrible is about to happen. Also, the lyrics. Not only amazing vocals from this girl but amazing acting. You put all those together you can here she's finally had enough, and now that she knows she has power, she's going to use it to literally take her metaphorical power back. The lazars were not needed, but the fact everything goes dark and all you can hear is screams with flashing lights and sparks is good enough. It leaves a lot to your imagination.
Suzy is sorry
"NO MORE PRAYING, MAMA!" god I love that line so much. The revival really fucked up by changing it.
I wonder if it was meant to be foreshadowing when the gym teacher says “so c’mon ladies, burn burn burn burn” bc that’s their ultimate fate later 🤔
I am obsessed with this song and the choreography!! Yeah, they don’t mesh in this scene and it should have been toned down, but, their dancing is on point! And dare I say… Sexy?! Brings me back to watching Solid Gold on TV (yeah I’m that old) I’m enthralled with Sue’s saunter down stage and then the knee bend, head jerk and hand snap moves she does when Tommy is singing!! LOVE IT!!!
This is a better version of Hellfire from hunchback
This music is the most 80s thing I've ever seen
Holy shit. I NEED THIS ON SPOTIFY
i understand why it was changed and LOVE the revival version but this sure is catchy and that choreo is so cool
1:17 "Burn burn burn burn" They did infact burn burn burn burn....
Was this fuck supposed to be in from Carrie?
3:32 to 4:11 is SO GOOD.
Idc what ANYBODY SAYS The original in will always be a MILLION times better than the 2012 version!
Happy Valentine's Day 2024 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤my heart is with 1988, today and always
2:31 I could swear I hear Ms Collins/Darlene Love screaming cheering the girls on “Oh my goodness!”
This is so goofy, this is what people were arguing should’ve stayed in the 2012 version? Get out of here, just say you’re nostalgia blind and let us enjoy the 2012 version with it’s creepy score and fitting effects
The staging may be goofy, but the underscoring during the actual massacre is far superior.
@@giovannirastrelli9821 nah, the score is way better in the 2012 one, mixing together various songs with the cool touch of the theme from “Carrie” playing in the background as she kills the kids
@@castle3267 In both versions, the underscore for the decoration used “Eve Weak,” just different parts of the song.
@@giovannirastrelli9821 yes but in the old one it is ONLY and Eve was week, in 2012 parts of “Carrie” “Dreamer In Disguise” and “I remember how those boys could dance” are also used
@@castle3267 If you’re talking about Carrie’s mad scene right before, it also uses several different leitmotifs.
OBSESSED with the staging and the lighting of this production. It's so much more brutal than anything I've ever seen from a revival.
“C’mon ladies…burn burn burn BURN!” Carrie: “perhaps I can be of service?”
From the start of Fierstein's little masterpiece I knew the wife had something on her mind, something she needed to say, but I did not guess what it was. Stockard Channing has always been a miracle to watch. (In 40 years of watching her during interviews I get the impression that even now she's insecure of just how fine her work is.)
I'm glad this musical was revived but it really needs this budget, staging, and most importantly this arrangement of the song to shine. The staircase is absolutely spectacular. The pyrotechnics and laser work was perfect. This is DRAMA at so high a level it just couldn't be appreciated in its time.
This is so scary… the performance is outstanding…
So great!! Wonderful! Betty Buckley! ♥️Xxxooo
1:08 - Song Starts 1:52, 3:18, 4:30, 4:57, 5:30
The set design for Stratford popped up. This is one of the few obscure set pieces I wish made it into the Broadway version. The image of that cross behind Sue is absolutely bone chilling
There were a couple times scrolling through this I thought it was Dana Plato - wishful thinking I suppose.
2:36, 3:13, 3:19, 3:30
Fun fact: this looks the way it does because someone confused Greece and Grease.
Did I just see flames come out of Linzi Hateley's hands? What kinda cool effects were in this show?
God that NO! is so powerful
1:39 "GO TO THE CELLAR AND PRAY WOMAN! PRAY TO HEAVEN FOR YOUR WICKED SOUL!" That was terrifying! I got chills! 😳
Wow ! What note on the scale does Betty hit at about 2:38 on the counter when she sings,"And the sin never dies" ? It must be a high E. And she was never afraid to hit those notes at full force. I was lucky enough to see her in both 'Cats' and later in 'Edwin Drood'.. What a beautiful and resonant voice she has.
I did not wanna like this song but wow I love it so much I actually might like it more than the 2012 version
I'm getting Showgirls here.
I go craaaaaaaaaay-zeee *tantrum on floor choreography* LOLOL!
I get that this was the 80’s, but they figured out how to land a helicopter on stage in Miss Saigon. Yet somehow stringing a bucket of blood in the rafters so that it can be properly dumped on Carrie was impossible?? Having Chris and Billy just run on and throw it over her head just looks so silly and dumb. Thank goodness the revival and the new productions have corrected this!
This show was ASTOUNDING! The Producers had no balls.Audiences were on their feet CHEERING and SCREAMING. Yes it was like 2 different shows and it was jarring, but could have been fixed. It would have had a long run but nobody had the balls to keep it going . I've seen endless amounts of Great Bway shows since then and NOTHING has surpassed the artistry and thrilling performances of B.Buckley and L. Hatley. PS: Debbie Allen's choreography should have been burned, buried, dug back up and then drowned!
3:52 & 3:57 - Love the conclusion
as much as the director fucked up this show and fucked over Linzi, you must admit that these women bring these characters to life so well. Linzi sounded legit terrified. (Fair though, because on opening night the woman who originally played Margaret almost got beheaded during evening prayers.)
2:20
0:46, 1:43, 1:53; 2:37, 3:22, 3:34
I would love to be in Carrie musical someday.
3:34 - I love the abrupt increase in tempo. Really increases the intensity of the beat
the 80s guitar shred as she starts rising makes me lose it every time
its actually in the revival cast recording if you losten closely after she says “his name is tommy ross mama he’ll have me home by midnight” but this is so much better idk why the hell they changed it
I think it's so bittersweet that they have her almost angelically glowing. Because all along she hadn't done anything to deserve this. Her murders are still wrong, of course, but it looks almost like righteous indignation from a certain angle. Plus the "God has seen you sinning just beginning...pray for salvation from damnation"...her singing that line almost sounds like "I wield the power of life and death now...pray all you want; you never listened to me begging you to stop, so why would I ever listen to you?!". A good kid who was stepped on her whole life and finally snapped and went mad.
What screaming !!! Is that what they call now, singing ! Horrible !
It's musical theatre.... So they're acting and singing... And they're damn good at it !!
@@js862 Like everyone else, you are entitled to your opinion, but I don't share it... that's what we call living in a democracy! Have a good day!
@@danielfontaine6977 you too. love a good debate anyway
She screamed it in tune though lol I actually thought it elevated an otherwise ok lyric
