    Hi,
    I downloaded the patches and also the software. I set the cables exactly and adjusted the knobs but the sound comes out like for "Hard Trance Lead" or "70's Lead". I don't hear the echo effect or anything else. Where am I wrong? Maybe you use other tools related to the Crage? Yet following the entire connection as you posted, a very basic sound comes out, nothing photonic, with echo or anything else. Can you tell me where I'm wrong? Also, aren't the "ext audio" connections for connecting external peripherals?

    • @TheHorseValse
      @TheHorseValse  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi! Thank you for reaching out, and thank you for your support! 🙏 You are correct and you are doing everything right. 👍 I use chorus, reverb and delay effects on each patch, as it would be done in a real situation. Just add your chorus, delay and reverb to make it sound alive. Otherwise, it is a bit dry and lifeless, as you discovered, like every synth sound on its own. Do it in your DAW, or connect your external FX if you have some. Do it light-handed, no more than 20 per cent each.
      Ext. Audio is for bringing in other sources, like synths. Or to connect the Crave back to itself to create a feedback loop for extra crunch! 👍🤩 Let me know how you getting on!

    hello, I recently got a Crave and this video helps me a lot.
    what I didn't understand is whether there are already sequences in the machine and how to recall them. being analog I assume that the only thing that can be saved are the notes of the sequencer and then the various sounds you have to do it yourself every time.
    is this correct?

    • @TheHorseValse
      @TheHorseValse  Год назад

      Hi, I am glad that you have a Crave and that my video helps you out! Thanks for the comment. 🙏🙂 I don’t think you can find any patterns out of the box, but recalling is easy. Just hold the pattern/bank button and select a number. I never bothered to learn how to operate the arp and the sequencer, I am more interested in sound design. 😅 There are some really good tutorials on RUclips about it, but I suggest you download the SynthTribe Behringer app, and you will be able to create, save, and recall patterns with ease! 👍 Your assumptions are 100% correct, notes can be saved, and sounds are created on the spot. That's the beauty of it! I Tend to sequence it with Logic Pro, or VCV Rack. Happy tweaking! 👏👍

      do you know if I can use the external input of the crave for example to pass in a line source such as a smartphone or a cd player, or 4track cassettes? Do you think I have to use a multimeter or can I rest easy?

    • @TheHorseValse

      Not sure. I know that Eurorack is “hot”, so you can not just plug it into a mixer like any other synth. It will be too loud. That's why the dedicated output. I suppose the same is true the way in, but the other way around. I suspect any line-level audio will be too quiet. But don't take my word for it, it is a wild guess. 😄

A bit stumped: At first it was impossible to get anything near the sounds in your video, but then I updated the firmware and now my sounds sound exactly like yours. • @TheHorseValse

      I don't know. It's a bit of a grey area, as some of the things (like the envelope) are digital. I think it’s fully analog signal path, but with digital controls. I like it that way, as it is less noisy and more reliable that way. Thanks for the nice comment! 👍🙂

      Interesting. I had a similar comment earlier. The issue was the firmware. Do you have the latest one? Other than that, I don’t know. The drone patches are sensitive, as you have to tune everything perfectly. It could be just the analogue magic.: My unit is slightly different from yours. Try wiggling the oscillator freq and filter a bit. You have to play specific notes also, otherwise, it won't work. I hope you will make it work, let me know! 👍

    • @spiritofwilderness

      @@spiritofwilderness Hmm... It should not make any difference what DAW or midi keyboard you use. I just made the Hard Trance Lead again, it works for me. If the knobs are aligned and the patch cables are in the right place, the only difference should be the dryness. There is a 5% Chorus, Reverb, and Dealy on the sound added in my DAW. It is not much of a difference. Can you send me a short recording of your Hard Trance version? I want to find it out what is going on! 👍 Don't touch the tuning just yet, it is more than likely right.

    you ever midi this synth to a keyboard and play the sounds you made that way ? Or just modular ? Good stuff

    How do I play these patches?

    • @TheHorseValse
      @TheHorseValse  10 месяцев назад +1

      If you have a Crave, just dial in the knobs, adjust the switches according to the corresponding patch sheets. You can play the Crave with the built-in keys, or use a MIDI keyboard, sequencer, or your computer. 👍

      @@TheHorseValse How do I use Laser Harp in Logic?

    • @TheHorseValse
      @TheHorseValse  6 месяцев назад

      @@user-yk7hj7nd4d It is totally up to you. I would use it for Trance, House, and EDM. Once you dial in the patch settings on your Crave, create an external midi track and configure the inputs and outputs. Play or program the part and record it as audio. The latest Logic (11) has bounce in place option for convenience. I would play arpeggiated chords with this patch.

    I'm not sure, but it seems like you show Sustain off most of the time when it needs to be on. That or my Crave is broken.

    • @TheHorseValse

      Sustain is needed to play long notes only. Send me an mp3 clip of how it sounds when you follow the sheet.
