I'm a better producer. I finally pulled out the netron two months ago, found a patch on RUclips , wired it up , made an 18 minute sample of tweaks and got three trax out of it , Bargin ! I shall be very interested in what patches you come up with, as I shall never be a wizz kid on any of my array of synthesiser instruments or software synth for that matter 😆 I can't wait !

@@TheHorseValse back in the 80s I had first the EDP Wasp, then the Sequential Circuits Pro One. Back then MIDI wasn't even a thing. I stopped using them when I left England to live in the US in the late 80s. I picked up making music again in the late 90s using VSTs. Lately I have been wanting hardware again.
Wow! OG Wasp and Pro-1. 👍 Wasp filter is something special. 👌 I love all this for the knob-per-function layout. No menu diving. The eurorack format is also brilliant, but my bank account thinks otherwise. 😂

Hi, I downloaded the patches and also the software. I set the cables exactly and adjusted the knobs but the sound comes out like for "Hard Trance Lead" or "70's Lead". I don't hear the echo effect or anything else. Where am I wrong? Maybe you use other tools related to the Crage? Yet following the entire connection as you posted, a very basic sound comes out, nothing photonic, with echo or anything else. Can you tell me where I'm wrong? Also, aren't the "ext audio" connections for connecting external peripherals?

Thank you for reaching out, and thank you for your support! 🙏 You are correct and you are doing everything right. 👍 I use chorus, reverb and delay effects on each patch, as it would be done in a real situation. Just add your chorus, delay and reverb to make it sound alive. Otherwise, it is a bit dry and lifeless, as you discovered, like every synth sound on its own. Do it in your DAW, or connect your external FX if you have some. Do it light-handed, no more than 20 per cent each. Ext. Audio is for bringing in other sources, like synths. Or to connect the Crave back to itself to create a feedback loop for extra crunch! 👍🤩 Let me know how you getting on!

The KB CV > Filter Cutoff is so common a patch, I wonder why Behringer didn't think to normalise the connection. Nice set of patches. I particularly like the Over The Rainbow Lead, very Theremin like.

I saw you have done video like this to the neutron, can the neutron make this patches as well? I mean and sound close 2 the crave? I had the crave now i want to buy neutron, They share the same 3340 osc, patch bay basiclly got same options almost but diffrent filters, can the neutron do crave? And sound lushy?

hello, I recently got a Crave and this video helps me a lot. what I didn't understand is whether there are already sequences in the machine and how to recall them. being analog I assume that the only thing that can be saved are the notes of the sequencer and then the various sounds you have to do it yourself every time. is this correct?
Hi, I am glad that you have a Crave and that my video helps you out! Thanks for the comment. 🙏🙂 I don’t think you can find any patterns out of the box, but recalling is easy. Just hold the pattern/bank button and select a number. I never bothered to learn how to operate the arp and the sequencer, I am more interested in sound design. 😅 There are some really good tutorials on RUclips about it, but I suggest you download the SynthTribe Behringer app, and you will be able to create, save, and recall patterns with ease! 👍 Your assumptions are 100% correct, notes can be saved, and sounds are created on the spot. That's the beauty of it! I Tend to sequence it with Logic Pro, or VCV Rack. Happy tweaking! 👏👍

Not sure. I know that Eurorack is “hot”, so you can not just plug it into a mixer like any other synth. It will be too loud. That's why the dedicated output. I suppose the same is true the way in, but the other way around. I suspect any line-level audio will be too quiet. But don't take my word for it, it is a wild guess. 😄

A bit stumped: At first it was impossible to get anything near the sounds in your video, but then I updated the firmware and now my sounds sound exactly like yours. Isn't this supposed to be an anlog synth? Why would a firmware update change the sound so much? (I also restored factory defaults).
I don't know. It's a bit of a grey area, as some of the things (like the envelope) are digital. I think it’s fully analog signal path, but with digital controls. I like it that way, as it is less noisy and more reliable that way. Thanks for the nice comment! 👍🙂

Hello !! Amazing sounds. I have 2 pcs of crave and i tried to repeat some of patches, but no luck. Sounds differnet. Absolutely no tos plucki.For example Laser Harp. My crave don't want sound similar :(( can you tell me what is the secret? attack of my sound not so sharp as yours. Can u share dry sample ? I wanna to compare it with my results. Thank you
Hi, thank you! 🙏 Do you have the latest firmware? There was someone who had the same experience and an update resolved it. For plucky sounds keep the attack on zero and the decay very low. Plenty of filter envelope. The sound has no effects apart from chorus, reverb and delay. In theory, these should wash out the sounds even further and make them less sharp. I don't have dry sounds at hand, but name a few of them and I will be happy to recreate them and share a link for you this weekend! 👍🙂

Interesting. I had a similar comment earlier. The issue was the firmware. Do you have the latest one? Other than that, I don’t know. The drone patches are sensitive, as you have to tune everything perfectly. It could be just the analogue magic.: My unit is slightly different from yours. Try wiggling the oscillator freq and filter a bit. You have to play specific notes also, otherwise, it won't work. I hope you will make it work, let me know! 👍
@@TheHorseValse I checked the firmware, it was updated! I think maybe it's the tuning? The little holes in the synth under the oscillators. It sucks as I never touched these. I tried your hard trance lead, again same thing. I dont know what midi board you use? I use a arturia minilab linked up through ableton, I'm a complete noob though so it might be me but the sound is also completly off!
@@spiritofwilderness Hmm... It should not make any difference what DAW or midi keyboard you use. I just made the Hard Trance Lead again, it works for me. If the knobs are aligned and the patch cables are in the right place, the only difference should be the dryness. There is a 5% Chorus, Reverb, and Dealy on the sound added in my DAW. It is not much of a difference. Can you send me a short recording of your Hard Trance version? I want to find it out what is going on! 👍 Don't touch the tuning just yet, it is more than likely right.
If you have a Crave, just dial in the knobs, adjust the switches according to the corresponding patch sheets. You can play the Crave with the built-in keys, or use a MIDI keyboard, sequencer, or your computer. 👍
@@user-yk7hj7nd4d It is totally up to you. I would use it for Trance, House, and EDM. Once you dial in the patch settings on your Crave, create an external midi track and configure the inputs and outputs. Play or program the part and record it as audio. The latest Logic (11) has bounce in place option for convenience. I would play arpeggiated chords with this patch.

Absolutely! It's a different filter, but you can get a bit more low-end when you crank the resonance on the Neutron. I love it more than the Crave. 👍😀

It is a C Major Arp. The filter starts fully closed, then fully opened at the end. Dry and wet mix. Let me know how it compares to yours!

I don't get the same sounds out of my crave with the drone patches, any idea on what can cause this? Followed exact patches and settings
Interesting. I had a similar comment earlier. The issue was the firmware. Do you have the latest one? Other than that, I don’t know. The drone patches are sensitive, as you have to tune everything perfectly. It could be just the analogue magic.: My unit is slightly different from yours. Try wiggling the oscillator freq and filter a bit. You have to play specific notes also, otherwise, it won't work. I hope you will make it work, let me know! 👍
@@TheHorseValse I checked the firmware, it was updated! I think maybe it's the tuning? The little holes in the synth under the oscillators. It sucks as I never touched these. I tried your hard trance lead, again same thing. I dont know what midi board you use? I use a arturia minilab linked up through ableton, I'm a complete noob though so it might be me but the sound is also completly off!
@@spiritofwilderness Hmm... It should not make any difference what DAW or midi keyboard you use. I just made the Hard Trance Lead again, it works for me. If the knobs are aligned and the patch cables are in the right place, the only difference should be the dryness. There is a 5% Chorus, Reverb, and Dealy on the sound added in my DAW. It is not much of a difference. Can you send me a short recording of your Hard Trance version? I want to find it out what is going on! 👍 Don't touch the tuning just yet, it is more than likely right.

How do I play these patches?
If you have a Crave, just dial in the knobs, adjust the switches according to the corresponding patch sheets. You can play the Crave with the built-in keys, or use a MIDI keyboard, sequencer, or your computer. 👍

@@user-yk7hj7nd4d It is totally up to you. I would use it for Trance, House, and EDM. Once you dial in the patch settings on your Crave, create an external midi track and configure the inputs and outputs. Play or program the part and record it as audio. The latest Logic (11) has bounce in place option for convenience. I would play arpeggiated chords with this patch.

I'm not sure, but it seems like you show Sustain off most of the time when it needs to be on. That or my Crave is broken.
Sustain is needed to play long notes only. Send me an mp3 clip of how it sounds when you follow the sheet.

Maybe start with a base patch (copy one of these) and slowly learn what every knob does. You’ll be a master in no time.

It has a maximum of 32 steps in one pattern. You can set it to be shorter if needed.
