Great video. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I was stationed there between 1993 and 1995. Got to see where our house use to be (across the street from the gym) and where I worked. Really enjoyed the tour!
This is so great. I am glad the drive is slowed down due to the snow... lets me soak in the memories! A few little things have changed, otherwise it is the same as it was when I was there from 2007-2009. I miss Misawa and Japan so much!
Oh the memories!! Its amazing how much I didn't appreciate Misawa as a young Airmen. Now, 25 years later, I long for the opportunity to one day take my kids there for a trip.
I have great memories of my time as a kid while we were stationed at Misawa back in the 70s! The festivals in town were amazing. Do they still pile all the snow from the base up in a field and make massive snow sculptures?
USAF 1969-70. All looks vague to me now. Sort-of remember MainStreet looking like that. Otherwise, I never got to ride or drive during my whole assignment, never saw the base or the town from inside a vehicle. ALWAYS had to walk, so I stayed relatively close to the flight-line & facilities there. Initially, barracks was in the east area & work-station was in vicinity of the Misawa LemonLot. There was no Misawa elementary or junior high-school, as I remember. Did alot of walking(short-cutting thru those hangers). Barber-shop was at the corner of Falcon-&-Friendship (not there now). Chow-Hall ?? Airman's Club ??? Later they moved me to BEQ barracks, then later still into little quad-plex houses that each had 4 tiny rooms. What w/ TDAs to Korea ALL-THE-TIME, I frequently had the place to myself. Because so much of the work-force was gone to Korea so much - they demanded war-zone-like labor-hours = during one stretch I worked 15hr-work-days, 37 days in a row!!!!!! ... Another thing I recall is - snow. It snowed some every day 54days in a row during the winter of '69-'70.
Very good place
