    When I first heard that we'd be reading Jane Eyre for class, I wasn't super excited. I figured the book would be dull and dry... so happy I was wrong. All thanks to this audiobook and a lively narrator I was able to fall in love with this book and become completely emersed in its brilliance. Thank you so much for uploading this and outstanding job to the narrator for making it so wonderful to read. So sad it's over, but I look forward to reading it again and using this audiobook once more.

      abidao Yes, you shall get more and more out of this brilliant novel the more you delve into it. It IS SO rich. Read it once, watched videos of it several times, but this narration of it is the frosting on the the cake! A poor farmer bought an impoverished field to meek put a near living. Stones and boulders menaced his plowing. Removing some he found irons. Digging deeper he found silver then gold. Even deeper he found semiprecious gem stones and yet deeper were to be discovers clearer sparking stones, then brilliantly gleaming gems more precious than ever the silver and gold. Such is Jane Eyre.

    The modulation of the voice performance is awe inspiring. I can hardly believe the variety of voice given for each character. I’m enjoying the presentation as much as the beloved book. Does she read aloud any other stories?

    • @MsLeenite
      @MsLeenite 3 года назад +12

      Elizabeth Klett has narrated many wonderful classic novels. Go to the website where you can download a wealth of audiobooks, all free, of books, plays and poetry in the public domain. Some other volunteer readers whose presentations I've enjoyed: Karen Savage, Mil Nicholson, Adrian Praetzellis, and a superb reader from Ireland named Tadhg Hynes (sometimes he just uses Tadhg, which is pronounded "TYG" with a hard "g"). Mr Hynes recorded a truly spellbinding reading of Charles Dickens' "David Copperfield". Mil Nicholson also did superb readings of Dickens' novels. Elizabeth Klett and Karen Savage both did very fine narrations of Jane Austen's books. And I recommend Mr Praetzellis' reading of The Wind in the Willows, for which he created wonderful character voices.

  • @stellarstories

    Beautiful wrought narration. I am not overly fond of the 2nd half of Jane Eyre, but Ms Klett has embodied even the duller ramblings of St. John with life. Her ability to capture the nuances of her characters, to the point where I forget I'm hearing only one person's voice, is astonishing.

I shall let it rest some time and am sure that I shall pick it up again for not is the whole of it wonderful, but parts of it stand still and other moments are so full of truth that far too much of it over runs my cup and spills beyond me and I shall have to come back for refills, always to be and never to be ... fully satisfied. This novel is a type of heavenly eternity, ever having new elements and ever promising more. Dale Clifton Olmstead.

    Absolutely delightful! I have watched two movies of Jane Eyre, the first one with Samantha Morton, a movie that I found magnificent, and the second one with Ruth Wilson, which is just as magnificent as the first. However, there were a few small differences between the two versions. So, I had to read or listen to an unabridged version. This listening was it. Superb narration, I could see in my eyes either one of the two lovely 'Jane Eyre' protagonists while I was listening and I enjoyed this complete version immensely. v8infinity8 I too used to share your feelings, however after life has given me the run around it occurs to me that everyone makes a mistake in judgement at one point or another. My feeling is that although he took his wife’s care into his responsibility he never truly married her in his heart and how could he with an arranged marriage. When he realized his feelings for Jane were mutual how truly miserable his “marriage “ must have made him. Truly if it wasn’t a novel I’d wonder why he hadn’t gotten an annulment when he discovered that he was tricked into marrying a mentally disabled woman. Probably a money situation which kept him from it until the feelings for Jane made “fake bachelorhood “ unsavory. I truly believe that a man in his situation would be feeling desperate for the comfort of a mutually satisfying marriage. He was only married on paper.

    I wonder, though, did it need the concluding chapter?

    My mum loves these books... Shes actually what inspired me to read the Brontë books!! Everytime i go to haworth i always feel like i belong there, and i think Jane Eyre is why. Also my middle name is Charlotte because of her!!! And my mums middle name is Emily because my nana loved Wuthering Heights!!! I think this is a beautiful book, and whoever read this has a wonderful way of reading, i aspire to be as diverse as she is

    Of the six+ movies called Jane Eyre, the 2006 version seems to be closest in following the book. The older movie productions - especially with Orson Wells, George C Scott and William Hurt are not as true to Bronte’s story.

    • @JR-sx3gl
      @JR-sx3gl 4 года назад

      I collect the movies/ series, but I can't get the William Hurt one (it's only with the American region) and I still don't have the BBC series (1973). BBC is usually good with being faithful to the book.
      I like the Orson Wells version for the portrayal of the childhood, and I really like Samantha Morton version, but can't point out why.

      @@JR-sx3gl I can vouch for the BBC one. It is EXTREMELY faithful, though, as in everything, there are some *very minor* adaptations. All in all it is a very good set!

      @@unisonbeck5872 I've watched BBC version, I even think I saw it also somewhere here on RUclips. But Google says there are few BBC versions, so I don't know which you each refer to. My fav is 1983 version with Timothy Dalton as Mr. Rochester. I've seen some other versions too, but this version really match with how I visualize Jane to look like.
