So sad it's over, but I look forward to reading it again and using this audiobook once more.
abidao Yes, you shall get more and more out of this brilliant novel the more you delve into it. It IS SO rich. Read it once, watched videos of it several times, but this narration of it is the frosting on the the cake! A poor farmer bought an impoverished field to meek put a near living. Stones and boulders menaced his plowing. Removing some he found irons. Digging deeper he found silver then gold. Even deeper he found semiprecious gem stones and yet deeper were to be discovers clearer sparking stones, then brilliantly gleaming gems more precious than ever the silver and gold. Such is Jane Eyre.
I am so glad you feel like this! I am studying to become an English teacher and I will certainly recommend this audiobook to my future students, to help make the material more accessible for them.

Elizabeth Klett has narrated many wonderful classic novels. Go to the website where you can download a wealth of audiobooks, all free, of books, plays and poetry in the public domain. Mr Hynes recorded a truly spellbinding reading of Charles Dickens' "David Copperfield". Mil Nicholson also did superb readings of Dickens' novels. Elizabeth Klett and Karen Savage both did very fine narrations of Jane Austen's books. Beautiful wrought narration. I am not overly fond of the 2nd half of Jane Eyre, but Ms Klett has embodied even the duller ramblings of St. John with life. Her ability to capture the nuances of her characters, to the point where I forget I'm hearing only one person's voice, is astonishing.

My feeling is that although he took his wife’s care into his responsibility he never truly married her in his heart and how could he with an arranged marriage. When he realized his feelings for Jane were mutual how truly miserable his “marriage “ must have made him. Truly if it wasn’t a novel I’d wonder why he hadn’t gotten an annulment when he discovered that he was tricked into marrying a mentally disabled woman. Probably a money situation which kept him from it until the feelings for Jane made “fake bachelorhood “ unsavory. I truly believe that a man in his situation would be feeling desperate for the comfort of a mutually satisfying marriage. He was only married on paper.
