    I always loved how the white wizard flips off the dead after a fight!

    I didn't know level 50 was the highest level possible. If I ever get to play this game--one of my first and all-time favorites--I'm going to attempt to level my party up to that level. I'm glad you're posting this videos, HalDanGhor!

    Awesome, not just the fight, but the presentation, all professional looking. Great job.

    Believe me, the toughest of them all is a Solo Black Mage! ;)

    I would say almost every time! However, it was really difficult to do this almost perfectly! I did it only to be sure I had more advantages possible when I challenge the Temple of Fiends! ;)

    No burden of healing other teammates, brilliant!

    Theoretically, doing it with the White Mage should be possible. Assuming that NUCLEAR does fire damage, AFIR should cut that down considerably. CUR3 after that point makes the damage trivial. For added effect, if you can land MUTE on it, then it's no longer casting spells. You then follow up by using Defense repeatedly to cast RUSE until its physical attacks don't land. As soon as it can't cast spells and can't hit you physically, it doesn't matter if you have Masamune or an Iron Hammer, it will die eventually and you won't.
    Regardless, this is impressive.

    • @HalDanGhor
      @HalDanGhor  9 лет назад +1

      Well, I am not even sure that the AFIR magic works that much if it works. Also, I am not sure if Nuclear is some kind of magic that we can stop with the Mute spell. Is it non elemental magic? May be. the Ruse thing can work, but we'll eventually get hit and we won't have enough Cure 3 left if we even reached that point. In the legit way, it's just impossible to beat a Warmech with a White Mage in the legit way. With Tool assisted programs or save states/load states, I guess it might be done, but it's not what those challenges are all about.

    • @Invariel
      @Invariel 9 лет назад +2

      HalDanGhor NUCLEAR is treated like a spell, MUTE will prevent it from happening. As for RUSE raising your defense, as you know from the Defense sword, the spell stacks with itself. Sufficient castings (3 or 4) should be enough to avoid its physical attacks entirely. MUTE landing in a non-tool-assisted context is a crapshot, absolutely, but it is possible, and then the fight is trivial.

    • @HalDanGhor
      @HalDanGhor  9 лет назад +1

      Invariel Okay, let's say that you survive long enough to cast Mute and be lucky enough for the Warmech to cast Nuclear while you are using the Ruse spell. How many turns, let's say with Iron Hammer, do you think would be needed to end the fight? 50? 100? Let me tell you that attacks can get through your defense even if you used the Defense Sword 1 000 000 times. So, there again, you have 1 chance on a billion to be successful in that fight doing it the legit way. Sometimes, over 10 turns, those attacks can get through 5 times. It already happened to me, and I was "rused" / "invis'd" to the max...

    • @Invariel
      @Invariel 9 лет назад +1

      HalDanGhor I guess I have a project for the foreseeable future. One WHM against a Warmech.

    • @HalDanGhor
      @HalDanGhor  9 лет назад

      Invariel Don't cheat. We want it to be legit, but like I said, even in full Ruse mode, you can still get hit. You know that I hope? :)

    Here he comes walking around the corner, a wheel barrow for each nut lol

  • @kakeboy07

    Doing it with a white mage is doable, but not given the other circumstances you outline with your party. You could level a black mage/white mage and be able to gain masmune and have a white mage fight a warmech, but that would go against your method of never leveling any of the other characters. (black mages can get enough of the WARP spell to get out of temple of fiends if you use your head).

  • @TheWolfgangGrimmer
    @TheWolfgangGrimmer 12 лет назад

    He can't. The spell charge system is still there in the PS1 version, and on Normal mode, the maximum cap is still 9 charges a level, and the maximum experience level is still 50.
    Though if you meant that it would still be easy with all that taken into account, then I have no idea whether that's true or not.

  • @SageMagnus

    I beat warmech with 4 white mages, but I managed to get insanely lucky and got a preemptive strike when I encountered it. The odds of that happening a second time are probably not likely to happen again in my lifetime.

  • @HalDanGhor
    @HalDanGhor  17 лет назад

    Yes I know. The fact is that I meant we cannot beat a Warmech with a White Mage "Alone" (It means that I do the game only with this character) But sorry, in my introduction for this video, I didn't write "alone" where I had to to it. I will change it right now. For the Black Mage Warp trick, I used it a lot when I wanted to do perfect games years ago! ;)

    Does the T-Rex offer a lot of EXP? When levelling up my party, I like to turn down the sound and crank up my stereo--I love FF and its soundtrack, but like all games, it get's repetitive. (And yet, these videos make me realize how much I MISS IT...!!)

    so thats what it looks like when u get the 4 crystals in the NES version of Final Fantasy. I never really ventured too far in the game to beat it(way too hard, but I still have the copy. lol)

  • @HalDanGhor
    @HalDanGhor  12 лет назад

    The way I see it is that finally, the Wizard would hit 100 damage less for every attack, which would force him to be hit more and cure himself more. Strategy is simple. Hit and Cure. Warmech will only attack or launch his nuclear. With 9 Cur4, I just made a quick calculation in looking at my fight again, and there would be enough Cur4 to kill the Warmech comfortably. The rest would only be a matter of luck about damages done or received and/or time. Pretty easy but long fight IMHO. :)

  • @davedfwm
    @davedfwm 16 лет назад

    Spectacular. I know it would be much easier, but you should also have this guy fight a T-Rex in the forest east of the large desert. They are difficult to find.

  • @TheWolfgangGrimmer
    @TheWolfgangGrimmer 12 лет назад

    Hardly. Some spells that used to be bugged have been fixed, but otherwise Origins is an exception compared to the later the remakes in that it sticks very, very closely to the original game.

  • @BoozyBeggar

    Final Fantasy was the first and one of the only games I've ever beaten on NES. The reason being you could actually make your character progressively stronger and STRONGER. I'd never heard of RPGs when I played the game, and still didn't know the term for a few years after. Go back, try beating it. Could be fun. Just fight a lot of randoms.

  • @HalDanGhor
    @HalDanGhor  16 лет назад

    Your comment made me realize I did a mistake. Knight and Master (augmented Black Belt) are the easiest jobs for solo games!

    People talk about the WM being difficult, but I think a single Thief party would be worse. Only potions to heal.

    Joli, je doute que ce sois possible en White Mage comme tu dis car le Warmech est immunisé a pratiquement tout et frappe beaucoup trop fort. (Bien plus que Chaos lui meme.) En passant, petite clarification, le White Mage de FF1 était male, et non pas une femme contrairement a la croyance populaire. ;D

  • @RamzaBeoulve02
    @RamzaBeoulve02 12 лет назад

    Is that because you never use them and it's as if to say they are sleeping?
    I've seen people naming their characters all sorts of dumb things like 6966 and whatnot so names I tend not to pay it any attention :)

  • @HalDanGhor
    @HalDanGhor  12 лет назад

    But it would still be easy to defeat a Warmech with a solo White Wizard, because he can cure himself often enough. The only difference is that this fight would last a little longer indeed.

  • @TheWolfgangGrimmer
    @TheWolfgangGrimmer 12 лет назад

    Now do it with the PS1 Normal Mode Warmech. Has 2000 HP instead of 1000 and regains 100 every turn.

      @@HalDanGhor You are really went all the way to the bottom of the Chaos Shrine and then went all the way back to Flying Fortress?
      That is either appalling or stellar. Let me digest that and get back to you.

    • @HalDanGhor
      @HalDanGhor  4 года назад +2

      @@grunwave Nothing really big there imho. I've done worse than that. Farmed 99990 exp in Willow at the beginning with monsters that only gave 10 exp each, reached Gannon in Zelda 1 without holding any sword, beat Zelda 2 with attack 1, beat Faxanadu without holding any weapon, etc. Also, this solo White Mage that we are talking about beat Chaos on his own in the Temple of fiends. I worked on him a lot to try to give him the best stats available, which meant HP, STR, AGI, INT, VIT and LUCK. Resetted the game hundreds of times to get the best possible level ups. Having the Masmune was the best way to do a solo White Mage vs a Warmech. Also, since the Temple of Fiends is not an easy place to get through and also the fact that Chaos is not a sure victory, getting the Masmune, casting EXIT and saving it for the next runs is a smart move, especially for a solo game. To you it's a big deal, to me it's pure logic and not such a big deal. The real pain was to do the same with the Black Mage (only 640 HP), who forced me to restart a Chaos run in the Temple of Fiends something like 300-400 times to only reach Chaos 3-4 times, finally beating him in this last try. White Mage was easier since he had lots of HP (839) with the possibility of healing himself with magic... I even made a game with another solo Black Mage in which I tried to make him the weakest possible one, having only 401 HP before the Temple of Fiends at the end. Knowing the pain it was with 640 HP with a strong solo Black Mage, I stopped my run before attempting the Temple of Fiends. Sometimes, we have to know when to stop, but getting the Masmune and casting EXIT or WARP a couple of times to get out of there and save it for the next runs is simply the way to go. Why try and try and retry with lesser weapons and struggle more for nothing if we can finally get a hand on the Masmune and have it saved for the next attempts? As simple as that bro.
