- I am SO. STINKING. EXCITED.
It took several goes at this to finally have a successful outcome. The others all had freak things that went wrong! 🤦♀️
Here’s the link to the SVG I bought: etsy.me/3olDqlW
Glitter used is Pascal from Frans. It will NOT be on the site until the beginning of November. It is one of the newest subscription box releases. She typically adds them on the 2nd of the following month. For a $5 coupon for new customers to Frans go here: i.refs.cc/Fkm1M...
The tumbler used here is a 20 ounce strawbler from www.thestainlessdepotcompany.com.

There is, originally, vacuum between the two layers of steel that causes the insulation properties. When you drill into either layer, that vacuum disappears, taking the insulation with it.
I thought it broke the seal, too. I actually tried a drilled cup side by side with a new one and it performed the same in THIS particular style. I think the bottom isn’t double walled like the sides so it isn’t as well insulated. So drilling this one didn’t alter performing. 😩
Such a cute idea!! The lights would make a cute ugly Christmas sweater cup too! ❤️
I’m trying to convince the office to do ugly sweater masks and I’ll totally be putting lights in mine! 🤣
@@ThePurpleStitch Haha! I’ve seen some on Pinterest!! I hope you succeed!! Would love to see it if you make one! ❤️😄
I have never seen anyone epoxy like that! I love your technique! I’m so going to try that the next time..and try the notch with the smoothed spot in the threading.. I’ve been researching all day about how to do this..I have one other idea but whew it would be a lot of work..lol
I absolutely love the green!!!
This is wild! I know my daughter would love one but wow that's an involved process!! Amazing job, thanks for sharing! 💜💜💜💜💜
I'm curious if you heard the seal break when you drilled through? And thank you for revealing the ice test results! That's been my biggest concern
My husband drilled this for me so I can’t say. But I know that this style really doesn’t insulate as well as others anyways.
You have inspired me!!! Just ordered everything I need!! Thank you!
Did you screw the bottom on when you did the ice test? If so, it may have helped
What a festive idea. Really cute.
Hi
It is still beautiful
I think it looks Great !!
Great Job!
Next you do this, UV resin or super glue the actual LEDs down to prevent bulkiness. Also, I'd glue one up, one down, one up, one down, and so on and so forth.
Looks great! Good job! 😍🥰😍🥰
My son was dead set on putting our xmas tree up.....so this week he lugged all the stuff from the attic...and set up the xmas tree..and tonight friday him and his sister put the ornaments on....this has been a crappy yr...so whatever makes them happy
Which type of drill bits did you use? The ones I'm using even though they say for metal they don't work. Help please 🥺 thank you
Love the green and the light idea!
What’s the name of the tool you use to trim the black part of the bottom off?
I'd love to try making one of these
Awesome cup!
The cup turner switching directions was the ghosts of the 3 Cups Past😂
🤣🤣😆😆 I’m sure you’re right!!
I would glitter and epoxy before cutting the hole. But this is amazing!
What drill bit did you use to make the hole in the cup?
May I ask What type of vinyl You used to make You little Christmas bulb/light decals with? I noticed they’re transparent and they work SO Beautifully with Your Design😍 I Love the Strawbler design to hide the battery pack👏🏼🙌🏼🎄💚 Thank You in Advance for any info in the vinyl. 🙏🏼
It is printable sticker paper. ☺️
@@ThePurpleStitch Thank You SO Much 🤩
Beautiful!
I wonder if you could create a faux neon light cup like this.
What size are the vinyl bulbs you put on?
So do you suggest the split in the cup or the whole? And do you think would uv epoxy would work on sealing the whole? Thank you for your help with this cup!! I'm so excited to try this!!
Can you share a link for the lights?
Love this idea!
How did the ice test go?
What a great idea! Did you do an ice test before you drilled the hole? If so, did the ice last that much longer?
I did not do one before but have posted a video update for this style of cup. 🙂 it didn’t seem to affect anything, but this style cup doesn’t seem to stay cold as long.
Did you do a print and cut for the bulbs? I know you used sticker paper but how all the squares of different colors ?
Yes, I did a print out of squares and then cut them.
I just made square shapes on silhouette and then filled them in with the colors I wanted. After printing, I laid it on the mat just like regular vinyl and cut like usual.
So you epoxy glitter method and then sprayed the clear coat or clear coat before epoxy method?
I like to put a clear coat of spray paint over the glitter to prevent repelling. Especially on chunky glitters.
Also where do you get the transparant vinyl for the light stickers
It is printable sticker paper. 🙂
Amazing!! Can I ask where you got the light sticker svg?
Absolutely love your channel I've learned sooooo much!!! Its much appreciated!!
I forgot to put the link! I loved this one and just took off the bottom. etsy.me/3olDqlW
@@ThePurpleStitch thanks!!!
Did you do any sanding of the epoxy. Most of the tutorials on other tumblers have sanding but I assume with the lights that you wouldn't.
You’re correct. I was worried about damaging the wires/connections.
Thank you sooo much! what size drill bit do you recommend to drill the hole?
My husband took it to work to do it for me, he didn’t pay attention to the size. 🤦♀️ I’m betting it was 1/16 or maybe 3 mm. Some lights are bigger, I’d base it on the size of the connections to go as small as possible.
Put a piece of tape on the inside of the straw holder to cover the hole then pit the epoxy stuff so it will not sink through.. Jist a thought..
That could work, but it would still affect the insulation. 😩
with the hole that cup has no thermal protection. the vacuum between the inner and outer wall is what stops the thermal transfer.
That’s what I was worried about. I did an ice test compared to another cup identical but without a drill hole. It performed the exact same as that one. These cups don’t seem to have as much insulation since the bottom isn’t double walled the same I don’t think.
This is awesome you done great job but I don’t have patients to do this once let alone if I got orders 🥰🥰
I have not intention of taking any orders for this one...I would literally have to charge $100 to be remotely worth it! 😂
@@ThePurpleStitch I understand 🥰
How much would you sell one like this for?
I have this one priced at $65. It got picked up a lot but didn’t sell at the shows I did this year.
Where did you get the lightbulb cut outs you put over the fair lights?
I googled “Christmas light bulb” and then modified my favorite shape. The. Print the colored squares on sticker paper and cut the shapes.
So cool! Thank you for the tutorial! Quick question...what printable sticker paper did you use for the little light stickers? Was it white or clear?
Clear 😁
What was the length of the “right” lights??? Thanks!
These were roughly 3 feet.
does drilling the hole through the side of the cup break the seal?
I thought it would, but it performed the same as a non-drilled. This style doesn’t seem to insulate as well.
@@ThePurpleStitch did you just use your drill and a drill bit?
So, if you are slightly impatient.. could UV resin work to fill that hole?
Possibly...but I have not tried that. I can’t think of why that wouldn’t work!
Where did you get that green glitter from?
It’s from Frans and will be available next week! 😁
I've been working on this for 3 months now. I've been trying it with a regular 12oz hog. I keep getting epoxy on the controller. Grrrrrr!!!!!
Aww man!!! 😩
I’m actually trying one and I drilled my hole in the bottom plastic and am placing a 3M circle on bottom. That prevents the wobble.. but you will have to feed the lights in and out the hole each time you turn them on or off. But it seems to be working fine...however the project is not complete.
Do you have a video to show how you drill ?
I don't, hubby took this to work to do for me since his drill bits were all there.
Could you use e6000 you think so seal?
Possibly, I know I’ve seen people use that on the acrylic snow globes. It might work too.
Do you sell your cups? If so I would love one of these.
I do sell, but I won’t be making these to sell. They take sooooo much epoxy and time. 🥰
Thank u thank u thank u !! 👍🏻
Where did you buy the mini lights?
I got mines from Amazon fairy lights
I get mine from dollar tree
Wait..... wiping it down with a baby wipe.. you don’t get spots??
I haven’t yet🤞....Here’s hoping I don’t! 😆
Drill hole is plastic base
The plastic unscrews. If you drilled the hole there, it would be more difficult to get off and on. Or the cup would wobble if it went through the bottom.
Can u just stuff hot glue n there or check out that putty glue where u mix the two puttys together.... or just let epoxy sit until it thickens up then shove it n there
I was wondering about hot glue also
So your not live?
not this time. 😊
Why do people love these so much?¿
I keep getting sent these videos but I can’t see the attraction
Not being hateful as didn’t come looking
...just curious why.
Honestly, to each their own. Some people are attracted to hot rods, some people are in to over the top hair bows, some people enjoy a really fun festive tumbler in their hands. I was excited to try this just because I love how festive it is, every single co-workers eyes lit up when I turned on the lights and show them at work yesterday. Not everything is going to rock everyone’s boat, but that’s OK. 🙂
@@ThePurpleStitch it’s good you do passionate tho. Nice 👍🏻 one
Amazing!! Can I ask where you got the light sticker svg?
