No, they should have charged for all these free dlcs and wall out people that want free everything. It’s not a charity, it’s a company. When they get people to pay up, they win, not lose.
Even just from a pve perspective, I don't want creatures in the game that are objectively unbalanced, if something like that is put behind a paywall then the devs have an incentive to add creatures that completely destroy the meta with every new map they release. I was glad when we got a fresh start from ASA because the shadowmane doesn't exist anymore, and here they are adding the shadowmane in the very first unofficial map! It doesn't even matter if I don't buy it, the fact that it exists means that I am intentionally restricting myself by breeding rexes for boss fights, I didn't want this for ASA
Personally I like the idea of more creatures being added I think from the creature votes it should be the top 3 new Dinos from the vote per map then they can add 1 paid Dino for $5 not too bad but this Dino is wayyyy too strong honestly they need to chill out I’ve been playing with just tamed ones and they are cracked once breeder stats are OP this will be the best tame in the game no need to cryo to get it in caves and such and no cryofridge is needed to throw it out because it’s a shoulder mount that’s a hands free flame thrower like idk what they were thinking

I think the Pyromane is an entirely Snail-based decision, I believe since Snail is struggling they’re giving WC VERY little wiggle room for paid dlc. They already agreed to having all story maps come with the game and making the Oasisaur not P2W, I think WC simply cannot do anything else

This is not an argument about how good the Oasisaur is, it's just a fact that as Oasisaur is not just a skin, but a thing that has functions, and it is unaccessable to players without spending more money makes it pay2win.
I think aside from the whole P2W controversy, the thing people don't realize is that right now its $5, but over time those $5 will go up as more "Fantastic" Tames keep getting added. Just imagine by the time we get to Fjordur, lets say there are 10 Fantastic Tames, that $50 for just 10 Creatures, way more costly then any of ARK's previous DLCs.
Fantastic tames are most likely only for modded maps, maps like genesis will have a second round of Bob's tales, so that's 6 creatures over 2+ years. And unlike bob's tales, you can choose what you want and what you don't.
You guys are the same people who cried bobs tall tails cost $30 instead $10 per map. But then you are probably the same people who think it should be free.

Thanks for covering it from a balanced perspective. you've said it very well especially considering that we have bobs dlc already. We want to support but not pay to win. It's just so concerning considering the impact it has for PvP. It just feels like they don't care about its impact.

The mana was added and they did not think about PvP at all, reason the ice breath could reach out of turret range also the shadow mane isn’t as bad but 1 shock and every single rider gets thrown off, deff pretty broken and I’m sure not much thought went into that.

Between the 3 maps we currently have I’m really starting to get tired of that same color of rock. I totally thought they got rid of volcano island when I first looked in that direction.

@abominablesnowman64 I'm not. I'm content with Monster Hunter World, and Wilds once it comes out. Sure, you can't tame the monsters, but it's just as, if not better environment wise. That's likely just me though 😅

As a PvE only player, seeing these creatures in the world really does bother me. The oasisoar was rare enough it really wasnt much of a bother. With the pyromane, theres a large section of the map where I cant visit without having this $5 mtx dangled in my face. It takes me so far out of the experience. I too want to support the developers, thats why I paid for an unfinished game not once but twice. Thats why I play they're unfinished game despite the amount of debilitating bugs and glitches. If that level of support isn't enough, it's their responsibility to position their company to better bridge that gap, not leave the responsibility to the consumers.
It is basically just a unobtainable creature sitting there on your world, i mean if i cant tame whys it there??? Its honestly just a tease to get more people to buy it, truly messed up.
Completely agree man, this creature is one of the most common spawns in the entire volcano biome, and is still a common spawn with the entire surrounding area. It’s ridiculous like your gonna find it everywhere, and now we know that these things are gonna be on all the free dlc maps!!! So while the center is annoying you can get over it because it’s the center and not loved by a lot of the community but think about Ragnarok, Lost Island, Fjordur, Valguero, all of these will all have at least one creature on the map that you have to pay for to interact with. And maybe we should be thankful that this one is a fire based creature so is generally limited to the lava areas. Imagine a creature maybe even 2 that spawn all around the map that you just can’t interact with until you buy it. I can already see where this road is leading to. Who’s to say they can’t do more things like this like instead of fantasy creatures it’s new tek creatures and they do it to even more maps. Think when the free maps came out they came with a or several new free creatures, now we are getting those same free maps, but now instead of adding free creatures, their adding priced ones all even more op than before. It’s baffling how obvious this is, like it’s simple, before they released the creatures on these maps free, now their releasing them for $5 dollars each, no new map content included so what used to be free updates to ark now are slowly turning into paid updates
there are ways in ASE to disable certain dinos from spawning entirely in singleplayer worlds entirely, probably the same case. Hopefiully you can disable the paid dinos too? Though i think you can only access the config on pc or if you are hosting a server :/
I did caved in and bought it since its pretty cheap but i think that Pyromane spawns too much. Tames 2 of them and learned that most damage high lvl one deals is when it dies and explodes xD I think Pyromane's spawn needs to be reduced and other creatures on volcano island should get increase in spawns. When i go there its about 30 Pyromanes, 1 Giga and about 5 other creatures on whole island. Maybe it would have been better if it was a pack as Bob Tall Tales including more than just one creature. The Center and now Pyromane needs fixes and adjustments. Btw since release i havent seen single Equus on the Center so i think that spawns on the whole map are broken and needs fixing.
Pyromanes can apparently be found on SE in the wyvern trench, but the ONLY way to tame them would be on pvp where you can carry them out (or single player), or to wait for rain. If they add it to every map with lava (rag and gen1), then it feels less like an exclusive dino and more like a paywall trying to tempt people.

Funny story, I downloaded the Center day one. I immediately wanted to see the ice castle to see what they did with it :D Mind you it was very underwhelming. But I traveled over the water, admiring the sights, went down the waterfall and tried to find the cave entrance. I shit you not, I went into a giant mesh hole thinking it was the ENTRANCE TO THE CAVE. It was THAT big D8 How does that even pass testing? XD I understand small ones or maybe underwater but this one was CAVE ENTRANCE SIZED ;;
With the silence about this dino before center drop, and the noise leak who works with snail and not necessarily wildcard, whats the chances the pyromane is very much just straight from snail games as a cash grab? And wildcard werent alowed to say anything.
Thank you Raasclark for calling it out, I think your assessment is very fair and reasonable. Getting into micro-transaction territory is a very slippery slope. I've asked the players on my cluster how they'd feel about me disabling DLC spawns, and so far nobody has complained about the idea.
this time its 5 dollars next time 10 dollars. next time 15 dollars. They'll just keep adding them until half the creatures in the game you'll have to pay for individually or they will start selling them in bundles. That is the fear.
I understand the fear but I really don't think that's the direction. I mean with how OP this stupid cat is, it could have easily been marketed at $10 and have REALLY been pay to win, but they made it a price that I do think is reasonable in this economy. I don't see them making another creature like this just to double it's price on top of the amount of backlash that would be received if they tried. I really believe that this is just an idea they wanted to try out and that's where it's staying for right now but extra work for ideas isn't free so it's a $5 idea basically. It was only dumb of them to add the creature to a highly active part of the map and make it the one of the most common spawns, only behind like carnos and raptors. If they massively lessened the amount that spawned or better yet, give the underworld a really good purpose of them being an exclusive tame in that area, and BAM you actually have a good DLC creature that isn't stupidly easy to tame and takes time, planning and prep to hunt down and the main areas of the map are still totally accessible to everyone without getting flame ganked.
There is one negative for pve with the pyromane, it spawns on the map, and due to being aggressive, it makes wanting to do anything on lava island really frustrating, as you could be taming something and then the next moment you get jumped and burned alive. I feel if these creatures are going to spawn regardless of if you own the pack. Either have them be passive, or have an option to turn off the spawns of the non owned creatures. (Also to be clear I also do not hate wildcard, the game is something I care about and would like to see improves, but that can’t happen if wild card keeps ignoring the community, and ignores options that satisfy both sides, in terms of satisfying shareholders and the community.) (An example of the ignoring of the community is the drama surrounding the pyromane and how the first patch announced, specifically mentions a bug preventing it from breeding, which does make people question wildcards priorities, either the players or investors.)

They lost me with the last paid DLC. This was all supposed to be a free UR5 update to Ark. Now it's extra cost on top of extra cost. I'm out. I could afford it and all that, it's just that this reeks of greed.
If the Fantastic Beasts was a pack like Bob's Tall Tales and it would guarantee a new creature each DLC map, rather than just buying one creature, it wouldn't be too bad. It's getting a very EA feel about it, pay walls are not a good thing, ever

I would love this. It would be 6 creature minimum fo around the same price as bobs tales (maybe a tiny bit less because no skins/structures etc). They will probably add more mod maps to official because it's easy for them to do so it would add more value
Honestly, if they just KEEP UP with engine upgrades, it won't be that problematic. It won't be as much work jumping from a REALLY old version of the engine, to a REALLY new version - they're just going to a slightly-newer one, meaning less work, maybe even saving a lot of work for them on the back-end.
I do feel that if you don’t purchase the op pyromania, it shouldn’t target you. Any of the new add ons / ins should not agro on you. It’s not fair and almost forces you to purchase
my biggest gripe with the pyromane is that it puts a middle finger to the phoenix which i felt needed more love. It has a lot of traits that I feel like the phoenix should have like the insulation. as for making old creatures redundent? That's been an issue since ASE IMO, with the most recent one being the Gigantoraptor making the terror bird even less worth taming (though, except for taming wild babies it's not as good as the maewing for the raising job imo).
I started playing ASA, but then decided to wait until everything cools down, just to see if various things get fixed. I went back to ASE and am having just as much fun playing it as I always have. When I do pick up ASA again... far in the future, (apart from some special events with friends), I will not be purchasing anything above the basic game and any trick dino that spawns and I can't tame it without paying for it will be wiped from my single player or server and replaced with dodos using .ini if they don't block that ability. I play PvE for the most part and never on Official, but even for me it is all too much. Wild Card needs to do better.
I want more sea creatures, better map design with all mesh spots fixed and no palm trees in cold biome, a completely ocean world map that is enormous in scale, OP creatures removed or nerfed, more rock variations, and more dodo/sheep like creatures. How about some crabs and shrimps and octopus for example? Or raccoons and possums?
I don't agree with you. The Pyromane completely destroys PVE as well. You could live without an Oasisaur. Having used the Pyromane, to see what it is like. This thing is OP as can be. Caves are not longer a challenge, goodbye need to tame anything else. This thing even cooks meat in its inventory, smelts Metal. Early game, if you can tame one up, you have a massive advantage over anybody else. The center itself has lost its soul with the upgrade, and in all honestly, I hate the look of the map now more than ever.
In Official PVE there is also controversy with this creature. A lot of ppl payed for the creature without even trying to join an official center server to tame it, to find that during all day the few center servers are 70/70 slot capped.
I think that is is concerning that ther are ALREADY releasing an second pass for what is just one dino... I mean where are we going after this? "Oh also we've made the new free element pack you can get it at an price of 10.99" Also remember caratosaurus? :The pyromane does completly overshadow it
I do genuinely hope these power ranger skins are just skins and not actual dinos. But even then I think it is a really odd thing for Ark to do. I really don't want Ark going into a direction where the game starts to feel nothing like it used to, similar to the direction fortnite went into.
... We already went through this with every paid DLC. Abberation, Extinction, Genesis, etc... The game immediately steered away from dinosaurs with the first DLC Scorched Earth adding mythical Wyverns, Rock Golems, and a Phoenix.
@@FnLizardKing Yes but ARK has never solely been a dinosaur game. From the day it released it was set on a futuristic space station with giant floating obelisks. ARK was a game about encountering and taming cool and majestic creatures, fantasy or reality. Even the actual dinosaurs feel more like fantasy creatures then their irl counterparts. I do agree with you tho that there is a point where it becomes too far and different from how ARK should be and I'm hoping that Wildcard doesn't go there.

i feel like, the price makes it not worthy, like theres premium mods that for the same price add a lot more content than just ONE creature that, even tho has its own ups and downs, it appears to just be a reskin of a preexisting dino
If Pyromane was more unique and not a blatant shadowmane reskin, also he has extreme feature creep, is very easy to tame. I mean Pyromane renders a lot of early-mid tames completely useless, and some stronger earlier dinos are usually kept behind saddle level or harder taming see carcha/ferox/astrocestus etc

They do yes. Same with Oasisaur. even if none on the server owns the DLC they exist. It is in the base game for all so that there isnt issues with people who have the DLCs and dont. Only issue is just you cant interact with them other than kill them.

yep, a tribe is griefing me leaving dinos on my base, a hour ago I logged and they put pyromanes on a boat very close to my base, if they realesed the pyros when I loggout all my tames are dead...
Honestly though. As a pve player, i do like that they are giving our side a bit of attention since Evolved's whole life span was primarily pvp catering with dinos that r way usless in pve. Like dinos that specifically unlock enemy bases, dinos that steal stuff, dinos that r surprise attackers. So many dinos we end up having to tame with no practial use that does nothing. So we do appreciate the attempt. But maybe if they make more Fantastic Beasts creatures, make them less pvp oriented so they stop bitching.
Can I be honest. The Pyromane looks amazing with the fire but I think PvP will be too easy to whoever has even just one. It would be best on PvE and singleplayer but it would be used way too much on PvP servers because of the major advantages that Pyromanes give.
100%. They still have genesis 1 and 2 as well as the new story DLC(s). No shot they just add to it to existing BTT pass. We'll probably have at least 3 BTT's by the end of ASA. Man, just the thought of potentially paying for BTT pass AND a corresponding story DLC/DLC pass... Crazy.
yeah this has been bullshit. i've been in early access for my whole ark life. Been promised ark 2, free upgrades etc. I refuse to pay for this obvious p2w. People like me will just stop playing if this swings any further

BUT: All creatures in ASE+the new ones in ASA is: 195 (species, not includes subvariants like alpha, aberrant etc) of that 32 is a dinosaur and 10 is a bird(birds are considered a lineage of dinosaurs by science), combined: 42 dinos, which is 21.5% of the 195. Off the 195 creatures, 157 is tamable, 42 are dinosaurs of that, which is 26.75% of the 157. OK, I was wrong ~27%. 😅
if it's then atleast something really unique, something we don't already have in some form. (or will have, somewhen in the future) Not saying 10€ is ok; but at least it's not leaving such a sour taste. I mean, a Shadowmane, an OP create made even more OP but locked behind a paywall. It's a turbulent time in ark for sure, I know some of the higher pop Non Official PvP servers have simply disabled the new dinos as they are all so out of balance with the cherry on top the Pyromane being the worst one and behind a paywall! I think as a community we all wanted the revamp unreal5 of ASE but I seriously wonder if we would have been better off without Ascended and let them work on ARK2... But financial mismanagement prevailed and we get the hot mess that is Ascended! and a probable longer delay in Ark2.

@@empressjessica5020 ~80-90% of the DLC content excluding maps in ASE was accessible with exaclty 0 DLC via free maps. None of my friends owned a single dlc and yet we were all able to enjoy the dlc content together on great maps. You could also just install mods to enjoy the dlc content on vanilla maps. If you walked up to a rockdrake egg on fjordur in ASE and it asked you to spend 15€ on the DLC for it there would have been the same outrage. It's not the same and if you think it is you don't know a single thing about ASE.
i really appreciate you saying all this when ark is your job. furthermore, because its your job its so important to talk about this before ark starts dying even more. people need to be able to critique things they love, and this mess wildcard is doing is a very slippery slope. i pray that they listen to the community.

All this uproar over $5 is crazy.. Triple A title games are dropping at $80 and upwards and I know we all get way more out of Ark than those other games. You guys act like fans of this game but don't seem too invested in the success or longevity of Ark. If Ark dies it will be at the hands of this toxic community and it's spokespersons that feed the flames of negativity. A good day to you sir.
I can't see it not surviving. There are a lot of terrible games out there that lived through their darkest days with criminally low player rates and sometimes die hards really do keep games and companies afloat buying into monetization tactics.
I mean the overhaul they are doing on ASA is almost like making ASE and all its dlcs again. Considering you needed to pay ALOT for each DLC for ASE with all new OP creatures, this makes sense aswell, because now you get all the remastered maps for free plus some new dinos, but they still need to sell something for each map released to generate money, everyone bitched about bobs tall tales and now they are trying this because they know people want creatures or maps, they cant make more maps cus they are already making new maps (aka reworking) so whats left is creatures. Not many people would pay for skins, thats a minority of players.

I sat thinking, now what? No more all nighters, imprinting, breeding. I felt alone. I watched your epic video of the sunsetting with tears in my eyes. I had just lost an old friend, ASE. You know, being someone who has recently got into Ark and am happy with my $15 purchase (What a deal for ASE). Looking at ASA for $60 then needing to spend more for the ability to tame new creatures does not entice me into buying it at all.
Well my computer can't even run ASA without crashing every time I open ANY inventory and as I don't have the money for upgrades I was a bit disappointed. Now, seeing the direction Ark is going, I'm no longer even disappointed 🤷♂️
Two things. First, there should be a menu in the multiplayer server selection that lets you toggle what servers have and havent got the packs, so people who dont have the packs can feel more fair. Second thing, i hope that Wildcard did some typo and meant the fantastic beasts pack be a season pass like Bob's Tall Tales. I dont believe Wildcard is that greedy for money, and by the looks of it and if they meant it as a season pass, they would be adding creatures to the community maps, like how Bob's Tall Tales is.
How about maybe (just a thought) don't buy something you don't approve of. Crazy idea. Because despite all the complaints of the past week, I find that they are very rare, the content creators who have grown a spine and taken a stance, refusing to purchase the Pyromane. Lots of them, including you Raas, have rushed to buy it in order to release some sort of content about it, and now you and many more are all "ooh, bad WildCard, so greedy". Didn't you spend the cash ? Didn't you release a guide as fast as you possibly could ? Collectively, we spend money on stuff we say we don't want... which means that for WildCard, it remains a lucrative affair. The bottom line is, they're laughing all the way to the bank. There is NO incentive to stop releasing creatures like the Pyromane if we as a community behave that way. Vote with your money, and be an example. You want to be influencers ? Influence.
This cat is OP as hell, cooks meat and makes jerky! Lights my forge! Shrinks down to pet! It’s so damn good. It’s a reskin but the abilities are just to damn good!! Oh also metal weight is reduced by half. Can be your first tame, kite to water pike under belly and deeper water. Become op. Who cares about pvp’ers they didn’t care when we got there debuffs while on pve or pvp focused only tames. I’m happy eat it!
After 900 hours of Ascended, I'm going back to Evolved. The game looks fantastic but it's starting to feel very different from the Ark I knew and loved.
If they are going to be tools like this then do skins or something.. not actual new dinos or one sided content. These things interrupt me, my taming, they damage stone, its just annoying. Bosses don't even target them. And so its only going to get worse then. It just feels out of place, like cut Atlas content or something.. And we paid for the game we PAID for the DLC, Id just be far less offended if it was skin based.. Who thought this was a good idea!? I mean you can still do something, but this route? Even the way the DLC was done, its just unfair (I bought it) to those that do not have it.. Oh even better I was trying to get on my mount starting out, and got attacked by one, I hit E to get on and BOOM pop up, "you do not own the DLC" right in my way LOL. I mean wth.. All the new stuff has been having new abilities, UI functions etc, why are they not fitting this into the old Dinos. Morons running movies, shows, games everywhere these days.
I just recently got back into Ark and of course I'm staying away from every single PVP server except for the one that my buddy opened up and it's not really full PVP. Like we could choose to kill each other if we want but mainly everybody's been just kind of chilling. But I see him running around on this thing a lot and I find it absolutely overpowered because this thing can easily jump over Behemoth walls and has the ability to pretty much spit fire all over the place and runs faster than any other Dino I can get my hands on that don't already have points into movement speed. This thing is utterly ridiculous and I feel sorry for all the people that are actually playing on official PVP servers having to deal with this thing. Wild card please do better don't be selling us overpowered paywall creatures that are already in the game for prevent us from taming them because you guys want money. There's other ways like the whole tak skins and other stuff like that devil used to pay back in the day when it came to Old Ark.
If they want to make money that's fine. They need to create something GOOD FOR THE PLAYERS AND COMMUNITY that they can make money on simultaneously. This isn't the way to do it.
I think there should be an option for servers that block off paywall creatures as well. esp small tribes or Arkpoc servers there should be an option to block paid creatures. If they continue down this route its almost like Snail Games is being Run by the Justin Trudeau of gaming platforms, lets establish a following and a player base then just shit down their throats and every new dino is behind a paywall.. If this is the case ill host my servers with paid dinos hidden wild unless paid players have the DLC because i dont wanna fly around my maps and see dinos i cant even tame? Like this seems to be a shit decision by a greedy higher up that only wants to pocket the money just like our Canadian PM, Fk its a joke. I've noticed no one is really talking about this but i think they have been planning the fantastical dlc dinos for a long time. The community votes we stressed that the new dinos were supposed to be based only on real world dinos. That left them open to make and sell fantasy creatures
Pyromane is absolutely cringe. Given we have Bob's Tall Tales, where we get a new creature, a whole load of roleplay and cosmetic items, and new mechanics like trains and carts, for only $10 basically given it's only 1/3 of the DLC, Pyromane's an absolutely ripoff, even if it wasn't a reskin in most aspects.
Befor i start talking, i have to say i already bought the fire cat. The problem with this créature is obviously that it is op. But also that it is not new in the way that it is a shafowmane with fire. They could have been more creative for the design and name. But also a fire creature on the center is now logical, even less with the lac of lava we face on volcano island. They should have gonne for a new encounter in the ender world' waters like a cat fish idk.

Even just from a pve perspective, I don't want creatures in the game that are objectively unbalanced, if something like that is put behind a paywall then the devs have an incentive to add creatures that completely destroy the meta with every new map they release. I was glad when we got a fresh start from ASA because the shadowmane doesn't exist anymore, and here they are adding the shadowmane in the very first unofficial map! It doesn't even matter if I don't buy it, the fact that it exists means that I am intentionally restricting myself by breeding rexes for boss fights, I didn't want this for ASA
Personally I like the idea of more creatures being added I think from the creature votes it should be the top 3 new Dinos from the vote per map then they can add 1 paid Dino for $5 not too bad but this Dino is wayyyy too strong honestly they need to chill out I’ve been playing with just tamed ones and they are cracked once breeder stats are OP this will be the best tame in the game no need to cryo to get it in caves and such and no cryofridge is needed to throw it out because it’s a shoulder mount that’s a hands free flame thrower like idk what they were thinking

I think the Pyromane is an entirely Snail-based decision, I believe since Snail is struggling they’re giving WC VERY little wiggle room for paid dlc. They already agreed to having all story maps come with the game and making the Oasisaur not P2W, I think WC simply cannot do anything else

This is not an argument about how good the Oasisaur is, it's just a fact that as Oasisaur is not just a skin, but a thing that has functions, and it is unaccessable to players without spending more money makes it pay2win.
I think aside from the whole P2W controversy, the thing people don't realize is that right now its $5, but over time those $5 will go up as more "Fantastic" Tames keep getting added. Just imagine by the time we get to Fjordur, lets say there are 10 Fantastic Tames, that $50 for just 10 Creatures, way more costly then any of ARK's previous DLCs.
Fantastic tames are most likely only for modded maps, maps like genesis will have a second round of Bob's tales, so that's 6 creatures over 2+ years. And unlike bob's tales, you can choose what you want and what you don't.

As a PvE only player, seeing these creatures in the world really does bother me. The oasisoar was rare enough it really wasnt much of a bother. With the pyromane, theres a large section of the map where I cant visit without having this $5 mtx dangled in my face. It takes me so far out of the experience.
I too want to support the developers, thats why I paid for an unfinished game not once but twice. Thats why I play they're unfinished game despite the amount of debilitating bugs and glitches. If that level of support isn't enough, it's their responsibility to position their company to better bridge that gap, not leave the responsibility to the consumers.

It is basically just a unobtainable creature sitting there on your world, i mean if i cant tame whys it there??? Its honestly just a tease to get more people to buy it, truly messed up.
Completely agree man, this creature is one of the most common spawns in the entire volcano biome, and is still a common spawn with the entire surrounding area. It’s ridiculous like your gonna find it everywhere, and now we know that these things are gonna be on all the free dlc maps!!! So while the center is annoying you can get over it because it’s the center and not loved by a lot of the community but think about Ragnarok, Lost Island, Fjordur, Valguero, all of these will all have at least one creature on the map that you have to pay for to interact with. And maybe we should be thankful that this one is a fire based creature so is generally limited to the lava areas. Imagine a creature maybe even 2 that spawn all around the map that you just can’t interact with until you buy it. I can already see where this road is leading to. Who’s to say they can’t do more things like this like instead of fantasy creatures it’s new tek creatures and they do it to even more maps. Think when the free maps came out they came with a or several new free creatures, now we are getting those same free maps, but now instead of adding free creatures, their adding priced ones all even more op than before. It’s baffling how obvious this is, like it’s simple, before they released the creatures on these maps free, now their releasing them for $5 dollars each, no new map content included so what used to be free updates to ark now are slowly turning into paid updates
there are ways in ASE to disable certain dinos from spawning entirely in singleplayer worlds entirely, probably the same case. Hopefiully you can disable the paid dinos too? Though i think you can only access the config on pc or if you are hosting a server :/
I did caved in and bought it since its pretty cheap but i think that Pyromane spawns too much. Tames 2 of them and learned that most damage high lvl one deals is when it dies and explodes xD I think Pyromane's spawn needs to be reduced and other creatures on volcano island should get increase in spawns. When i go there its about 30 Pyromanes, 1 Giga and about 5 other creatures on whole island. Maybe it would have been better if it was a pack as Bob Tall Tales including more than just one creature. The Center and now Pyromane needs fixes and adjustments. Btw since release i havent seen single Equus on the Center so i think that spawns on the whole map are broken and needs fixing.
Also the Pyromane doesnt even fit well into The Center, it is so much powerful than the rest of the creatures
Pyromanes can apparently be found on SE in the wyvern trench, but the ONLY way to tame them would be on pvp where you can carry them out (or single player), or to wait for rain. If they add it to every map with lava (rag and gen1), then it feels less like an exclusive dino and more like a paywall trying to tempt people.

Funny story, I downloaded the Center day one. I immediately wanted to see the ice castle to see what they did with it :D Mind you it was very underwhelming. But I traveled over the water, admiring the sights, went down the waterfall and tried to find the cave entrance. I shit you not, I went into a giant mesh hole thinking it was the ENTRANCE TO THE CAVE. It was THAT big D8 How does that even pass testing? XD I understand small ones or maybe underwater but this one was CAVE ENTRANCE SIZED ;;
With the silence about this dino before center drop, and the noise leak who works with snail and not necessarily wildcard, whats the chances the pyromane is very much just straight from snail games as a cash grab? And wildcard werent alowed to say anything.

Getting into micro-transaction territory is a very slippery slope.
I've asked the players on my cluster how they'd feel about me disabling DLC spawns, and so far nobody has complained about the idea.
this time its 5 dollars next time 10 dollars. next time 15 dollars. They'll just keep adding them until half the creatures in the game you'll have to pay for individually or they will start selling them in bundles. That is the fear.

I understand the fear but I really don't think that's the direction. I mean with how OP this stupid cat is, it could have easily been marketed at $10 and have REALLY been pay to win, but they made it a price that I do think is reasonable in this economy. I don't see them making another creature like this just to double it's price on top of the amount of backlash that would be received if they tried. I really believe that this is just an idea they wanted to try out and that's where it's staying for right now but extra work for ideas isn't free so it's a $5 idea basically. It was only dumb of them to add the creature to a highly active part of the map and make it the one of the most common spawns, only behind like carnos and raptors. If they massively lessened the amount that spawned or better yet, give the underworld a really good purpose of them being an exclusive tame in that area, and BAM you actually have a good DLC creature that isn't stupidly easy to tame and takes time, planning and prep to hunt down and the main areas of the map are still totally accessible to everyone without getting flame ganked.
There is one negative for pve with the pyromane, it spawns on the map, and due to being aggressive, it makes wanting to do anything on lava island really frustrating, as you could be taming something and then the next moment you get jumped and burned alive.
I feel if these creatures are going to spawn regardless of if you own the pack. Either have them be passive, or have an option to turn off the spawns of the non owned creatures.
(Also to be clear I also do not hate wildcard, the game is something I care about and would like to see improves, but that can’t happen if wild card keeps ignoring the community, and ignores options that satisfy both sides, in terms of satisfying shareholders and the community.)
(An example of the ignoring of the community is the drama surrounding the pyromane and how the first patch announced, specifically mentions a bug preventing it from breeding, which does make people question wildcards priorities, either the players or investors.)

Honestly, if they just KEEP UP with engine upgrades, it won't be that problematic. It won't be as much work jumping from a REALLY old version of the engine, to a REALLY new version - they're just going to a slightly-newer one, meaning less work, maybe even saving a lot of work for them on the back-end.

my biggest gripe with the pyromane is that it puts a middle finger to the phoenix which i felt needed more love. It has a lot of traits that I feel like the phoenix should have like the insulation.
as for making old creatures redundent? That's been an issue since ASE IMO, with the most recent one being the Gigantoraptor making the terror bird even less worth taming (though, except for taming wild babies it's not as good as the maewing for the raising job imo).
I started playing ASA, but then decided to wait until everything cools down, just to see if various things get fixed. I went back to ASE and am having just as much fun playing it as I always have. When I do pick up ASA again... far in the future, (apart from some special events with friends), I will not be purchasing anything above the basic game and any trick dino that spawns and I can't tame it without paying for it will be wiped from my single player or server and replaced with dodos using .ini if they don't block that ability. I play PvE for the most part and never on Official, but even for me it is all too much. Wild Card needs to do better.
I want more sea creatures, better map design with all mesh spots fixed and no palm trees in cold biome, a completely ocean world map that is enormous in scale, OP creatures removed or nerfed, more rock variations, and more dodo/sheep like creatures. How about some crabs and shrimps and octopus for example? Or raccoons and possums?
Can't wait for them to launch gen 2 in 7 years, and of the 13 dinosaurs on your screen, you have to pay to use 10 of them.

I don't agree with you. The Pyromane completely destroys PVE as well. You could live without an Oasisaur. Having used the Pyromane, to see what it is like. This thing is OP as can be. Caves are not longer a challenge, goodbye need to tame anything else. This thing even cooks meat in its inventory, smelts Metal. Early game, if you can tame one up, you have a massive advantage over anybody else. The center itself has lost its soul with the upgrade, and in all honestly, I hate the look of the map now more than ever.

In Official PVE there is also controversy with this creature. A lot of ppl payed for the creature without even trying to join an official center server to tame it, to find that during all day the few center servers are 70/70 slot capped.
I think that is is concerning that ther are ALREADY releasing an second pass for what is just one dino...

I do genuinely hope these power ranger skins are just skins and not actual dinos. But even then I think it is a really odd thing for Ark to do. I really don't want Ark going into a direction where the game starts to feel nothing like it used to, similar to the direction fortnite went into.
... We already went through this with every paid DLC. Abberation, Extinction, Genesis, etc... The game immediately steered away from dinosaurs with the first DLC Scorched Earth adding mythical Wyverns, Rock Golems, and a Phoenix.

I do agree with you tho that there is a point where it becomes too far and different from how ARK should be and I'm hoping that Wildcard doesn't go there.

i feel like, the price makes it not worthy, like theres premium mods that for the same price add a lot more content than just ONE creature that, even tho has its own ups and downs, it appears to just be a reskin of a preexisting dino

If Pyromane was more unique and not a blatant shadowmane reskin, also he has extreme feature creep, is very easy to tame. I mean
Pyromane renders a lot of early-mid tames completely useless, and some stronger earlier dinos are usually kept behind saddle level or harder taming see carcha/ferox/astrocestus etc
So a full map with feature for ten bucks from some random or ONE TAME for 5 dollars by the company that makes the actual game ffs

There is one negative for pve with the pyromane, it spawns on the map whether you own the pyromane or not, and due to being aggressive, it makes wanting to do anything on lava island really frustrating, as you could be taming something and then the next moment you get jumped and burned alive.
I feel if these creatures are going to spawn regardless of if you own the pack. Either have them be passive, or have an option to turn off the spawns of the non owned creatures.
They do yes. Same with Oasisaur. even if none on the server owns the DLC they exist. It is in the base game for all so that there isnt issues with people who have the DLCs and dont. Only issue is just you cant interact with them other than kill them.
There already is an option to turn them off.

yep, a tribe is griefing me leaving dinos on my base, a hour ago I logged and they put pyromanes on a boat very close to my base, if they realesed the pyros when I loggout all my tames are dead...

Honestly though. As a pve player, i do like that they are giving our side a bit of attention since Evolved's whole life span was primarily pvp catering with dinos that r way usless in pve. Like dinos that specifically unlock enemy bases, dinos that steal stuff, dinos that r surprise attackers. So many dinos we end up having to tame with no practial use that does nothing. So we do appreciate the attempt. But maybe if they make more Fantastic Beasts creatures, make them less pvp oriented so they stop bitching.
Can I be honest. The Pyromane looks amazing with the fire but I think PvP will be too easy to whoever has even just one. It would be best on PvE and singleplayer but it would be used way too much on PvP servers because of the major advantages that Pyromanes give.
bob's tales is not even a season pass it is for only 3 maps, they will have another pack, just wait
100%. They still have genesis 1 and 2 as well as the new story DLC(s). No shot they just add to it to existing BTT pass. We'll probably have at least 3 BTT's by the end of ASA.

yeah this has been bullshit. i've been in early access for my whole ark life. Been promised ark 2, free upgrades etc. I refuse to pay for this obvious p2w. People like me will just stop playing if this swings any further

BUT: All creatures in ASE+the new ones in ASA is: 195 (species, not includes subvariants like alpha, aberrant etc) of that 32 is a dinosaur and 10 is a bird(birds are considered a lineage of dinosaurs by science), combined: 42 dinos, which is 21.5% of the 195. Off the 195 creatures, 157 is tamable, 42 are dinosaurs of that, which is 26.75% of the 157. OK, I was wrong ~27%. 😅

It's a turbulent time in ark for sure, I know some of the higher pop Non Official PvP servers have simply disabled the new dinos as they are all so out of balance with the cherry on top the Pyromane being the worst one and behind a paywall! I think as a community we all wanted the revamp unreal5 of ASE but I seriously wonder if we would have been better off without Ascended and let them work on ARK2... But financial mismanagement prevailed and we get the hot mess that is Ascended! and a probable longer delay in Ark2.

None of my friends owned a single dlc and yet we were all able to enjoy the dlc content together on great maps. You could also just install mods to enjoy the dlc content on vanilla maps.
If you walked up to a rockdrake egg on fjordur in ASE and it asked you to spend 15€ on the DLC for it there would have been the same outrage.
It's not the same and if you think it is you don't know a single thing about ASE.
i really appreciate you saying all this when ark is your job. furthermore, because its your job its so important to talk about this before ark starts dying even more. people need to be able to critique things they love, and this mess wildcard is doing is a very slippery slope. i pray that they listen to the community.

I can't see it not surviving. There are a lot of terrible games out there that lived through their darkest days with criminally low player rates and sometimes die hards really do keep games and companies afloat buying into monetization tactics.

I mean the overhaul they are doing on ASA is almost like making ASE and all its dlcs again. Considering you needed to pay ALOT for each DLC for ASE with all new OP creatures, this makes sense aswell, because now you get all the remastered maps for free plus some new dinos, but they still need to sell something for each map released to generate money, everyone bitched about bobs tall tales and now they are trying this because they know people want creatures or maps, they cant make more maps cus they are already making new maps (aka reworking) so whats left is creatures. Not many people would pay for skins, thats a minority of players.
I am convinced a bunch of 4channers working for free could do better at making this game than the current batch of overpaid and extremely lazy devs.

You know, being someone who has recently got into Ark and am happy with my $15 purchase (What a deal for ASE). Looking at ASA for $60 then needing to spend more for the ability to tame new creatures does not entice me into buying it at all.

Well my computer can't even run ASA without crashing every time I open ANY inventory and as I don't have the money for upgrades I was a bit disappointed. Now, seeing the direction Ark is going, I'm no longer even disappointed 🤷♂️

Two things. First, there should be a menu in the multiplayer server selection that lets you toggle what servers have and havent got the packs, so people who dont have the packs can feel more fair. Second thing, i hope that Wildcard did some typo and meant the fantastic beasts pack be a season pass like Bob's Tall Tales. I dont believe Wildcard is that greedy for money, and by the looks of it and if they meant it as a season pass, they would be adding creatures to the community maps, like how Bob's Tall Tales is.

Because despite all the complaints of the past week, I find that they are very rare, the content creators who have grown a spine and taken a stance, refusing to purchase the Pyromane. Lots of them, including you Raas, have rushed to buy it in order to release some sort of content about it, and now you and many more are all "ooh, bad WildCard, so greedy". Didn't you spend the cash ? Didn't you release a guide as fast as you possibly could ?
Collectively, we spend money on stuff we say we don't want... which means that for WildCard, it remains a lucrative affair. The bottom line is, they're laughing all the way to the bank. There is NO incentive to stop releasing creatures like the Pyromane if we as a community behave that way. Vote with your money, and be an example. You want to be influencers ? Influence.
This cat is OP as hell, cooks meat and makes jerky! Lights my forge! Shrinks down to pet! It’s so damn good. It’s a reskin but the abilities are just to damn good!! Oh also metal weight is reduced by half. Can be your first tame, kite to water pike under belly and deeper water. Become op.
Who cares about pvp’ers they didn’t care when we got there debuffs while on pve or pvp focused only tames. I’m happy eat it!
After 900 hours of Ascended, I'm going back to Evolved. The game looks fantastic but it's starting to feel very different from the Ark I knew and loved.
If they are going to be tools like this then do skins or something.. not actual new dinos or one sided content. These things interrupt me, my taming, they damage stone, its just annoying. Bosses don't even target them. And so its only going to get worse then. It just feels out of place, like cut Atlas content or something.. And we paid for the game we PAID for the DLC, Id just be far less offended if it was skin based.. Who thought this was a good idea!? I mean you can still do something, but this route? Even the way the DLC was done, its just unfair (I bought it) to those that do not have it..
Oh even better I was trying to get on my mount starting out, and got attacked by one, I hit E to get on and BOOM pop up, "you do not own the DLC" right in my way LOL. I mean wth..
All the new stuff has been having new abilities, UI functions etc, why are they not fitting this into the old Dinos. Morons running movies, shows, games everywhere these days.
I just recently got back into Ark and of course I'm staying away from every single PVP server except for the one that my buddy opened up and it's not really full PVP. Like we could choose to kill each other if we want but mainly everybody's been just kind of chilling.
But I see him running around on this thing a lot and I find it absolutely overpowered because this thing can easily jump over Behemoth walls and has the ability to pretty much spit fire all over the place and runs faster than any other Dino I can get my hands on that don't already have points into movement speed.
This thing is utterly ridiculous and I feel sorry for all the people that are actually playing on official PVP servers having to deal with this thing.
Wild card please do better don't be selling us overpowered paywall creatures that are already in the game for prevent us from taming them because you guys want money.
There's other ways like the whole tak skins and other stuff like that devil used to pay back in the day when it came to Old Ark.

If they want to make money that's fine. They need to create something GOOD FOR THE PLAYERS AND COMMUNITY that they can make money on simultaneously. This isn't the way to do it.
I think there should be an option for servers that block off paywall creatures as well. esp small tribes or Arkpoc servers there should be an option to block paid creatures. If they continue down this route its almost like Snail Games is being Run by the Justin Trudeau of gaming platforms, lets establish a following and a player base then just shit down their throats and every new dino is behind a paywall.. If this is the case ill host my servers with paid dinos hidden wild unless paid players have the DLC because i dont wanna fly around my maps and see dinos i cant even tame? Like this seems to be a shit decision by a greedy higher up that only wants to pocket the money just like our Canadian PM, Fk its a joke. I bought the pyro because i like it but if they are charging for bobs tall tales then release a paid dino for every map thats just another money maker for them..
Hope they change a lot of the UI elements the hot bar is completely fine but everything else is horrendous. It just screams lazy development.
I adore how EVEN THIS somehow finds a way to benefit megatribes over solo players, because a big tribe is going to have someone who spends 12 hours a day on Ark or has a cushy job that pays way too much or is just an obsessed whale and is going to have 0 problem buying the ability to tame the pyromane that his entire tribe can then breed infinite copies of while every individual person who wants their own dinky nonmutated one is going to have to shell out the money

Another iconic thing they for whatever reason decided needed to be cut is skull island, like no interior at all, and more or less changing it to a useless rock bar two small patches on top is baffling, same thing with how few and sparse some dino spawns are

To be fair a paid Dino is less pay to win than having to pay for an entire map with all its creatures and engrams now I’m not saying we should have to pay for the maps but this is less pay to win than ASE

I've noticed no one is really talking about this but i think they have been planning the fantastical dlc dinos for a long time. The community votes we stressed that the new dinos were supposed to be based only on real world dinos. That left them open to make and sell fantasy creatures
Pyromane is absolutely cringe. Given we have Bob's Tall Tales, where we get a new creature, a whole load of roleplay and cosmetic items, and new mechanics like trains and carts, for only $10 basically given it's only 1/3 of the DLC, Pyromane's an absolutely ripoff, even if it wasn't a reskin in most aspects.
Befor i start talking, i have to say i already bought the fire cat. The problem with this créature is obviously that it is op. But also that it is not new in the way that it is a shafowmane with fire. They could have been more creative for the design and name. But also a fire creature on the center is now logical, even less with the lac of lava we face on volcano island. They should have gonne for a new encounter in the ender world' waters like a cat fish idk.
