*- IMPORTANT UPDATE -*
I've had someone point out an unfortunate oversight on my part. While you can in fact equip whatever parts you want to the ship, if any of them require a certain piloting skill rank, you do need that in order to actually fly the ship. It's still much better than needing ALL of the skill requirements for all of the parts you can get, but it's also still something I missed and I apologize for that.

This glitch works great, however randomly when completing missions it will reset and lock you out from flying your ship or even standing up from the seat. If your in space when this happens, you’re screwed. Piloting is not required up front but at some point it is. Interesting to play with though.
When it came to any parts that required higher piloting than I had, it would immediately be something I had to rectify otherwise I couldn't take off. While the glitch could be playing a factor in what you mentioned, it's nothing I've experienced, and regardless of that could simply be a bug completely of it's own in the game. Hard to say without a more clear picture, way more people able to provide feedback on such, etc. In any case, I'm glad the glitch works great for you and I'm sure you've found the best way to go about everything for it for yourself which is all that matters. Enjoy!

Assuming you didn't already have all of the skills required to access any parts you wanted to use, now you have this to give you something worth spending even more time in there with :D

The funny thing is I’ve done this accidentally because I was using that button to try and go up and down on the different floors of the ship and I was getting frustrated because it kept doing it if all I had to do was just push the buy/build 😂

You do need to have the specific class pilot skill for it in order to fly the ship
Damn, major oversight on my part unfortunately. My apologies. I had previously done this glitch with a couple of parts and that I guess didn’t require a higher piloting skill so I took off just fine. I just checked with parts that DO require a higher piloting skill though and you’re right, I can’t take off. Well, at least the glitch still works and getting ranks in piloting isn’t a huge hurdle. Definitely still way better than having to dump a ton more points across all of the different ship related skills for various parts.

Due to a lack of the piloting rank you mean? If so than yeah, as I explained in my pinned comment, it was an unfortunate oversight on my part. While you can make whatever ship you want part wise without skill requirements, if any parts require a certain piloting skill, than you do need to actually have it. Apologies for that, though it’s still much better than having to get ALL of the required skills for various parts.
