I feel Novak didn't have many fans during the height of the Federer/Nadal/Djokovic era, but he seems to get a lot more fans as time goes on. He has proven himself to be an amazing player and great person.
I'm Italian, I live in Turin and I'm a fan of Sinner: Djokovic is a mature person, he loves tennis and recognizes real talent, he's a fan of Sinner. For sinner Djokovic is God. This is sport, it is not a Hollywood film, now it is not generous to treat him as the "bad guy", whoever thinks so has not understood the irony of this great player after all he has given to this sport .
For a long time I thought that Alcaraz and Rune would be the leaders of the latest generation of young players... Now... Sinner looks dangerous. I think that Sinner is now at the same place in his career that Novak was at the beginning of 2011. Only after winning the 2010 Davis Cup did Novak start playing like an all-time great. It seems to me that Sinner will do the same. I'm rooting for him to win this tournament. He absolutely deserved it.
Hands down to Nole for his incredible career. I am a Sinner fan, but this was just a match. But first stating that it was the worst match he ever played in a grandslam… that’s why he wil never be as loved as Federer of Rafa. And that’s why he will never be the goat. Normally he would. But I'm starting to fear his age got him. Not necessarily bad, but as he once said, other players are improving as well. They are young and tennis now is a lot faster and more aggressive than before. Novak staying up to such a challenge is so demanding. The fact that he got this far is unbelievable and unprecedented. That's why he's a GOAT and his victories won't be overturned in decades to come. I certainly want to see him at the top of the game again.
When he won the third set, all of us, used to seeing him come back miraculously, were expecting another one, but he is just a human and this defeat is just a friendly remember of how difficult is to achieve what he is achieved, especially in this time with so many great contenders. What a legend, not only the GOAT of this sport, but also one of the best athletes ever.
He was a little bit off the entire tournament, whatever it was, he wasn't his usual 100 percent. I'm actually surprised he got this far, I thought he was going to crash out earlier on. He's just been so dominating that when he loses everybody is in shock. It's hard to keep up that level no matter how good you keep yourself in shape, 36 is not a spring chicken by any means - especially in the world of sports, that's a senior citizen! I hope he can rebound from this and get back to the level that he was playing at last year. Hopefully he doesn't go down that path that Borg did.
Borg quit at 26 after 10 years on tour (different times) - in what way can Djokovic go down Borgs path after playing for 20 years on tour? Curious what you mean by that.
@@fwvw7056 what I mean by that, is that Borg basically won constantly, and then McEnroe came along, and basically put that to an end. He basically couldn’t handle not winning all the time, he lost his determination and passion because of that and I just hope Sinner doesn’t have that same effect on Djokovic.
@@chefpatsy I read you but..... it is like comparing lemons to oranges. Agreed, they both are tennisplayers at the top and that's it. you can't think of 2 characters more completely different.
@@chefpatsy Thanks for clearing up. I agree, I don't see Djokovic playing on like Murray for instance out of love for the game. For me it is also the reason why there is a 'but' to Djokovic being the greatest of all time - he truly needed the limits that Nadal and Federer set to get himself to that point. There are many examples, but there is a video that shows simple how people can only advance when others set a record - that was Djokovic' prime motivation. if he would have set his records after a few years of tennis, it is very doubtful he could go on that far. Example being his slump after winning his first French Open.
Sad to see such a champion going towards the sunset, happy that has been Sinner (which is my favourite) to beat him. Anyway Novak showed once more, in this press conference, to be an excellent man.

It's not just one match. This is how it starts. The slow decline from winning, to going deep but not winning, to no longer going deep, to retirement. Is Creatina still a threat, yes, but the best now have the ability to keep him from the biggest titles. Data shows, You-Know-Who has been dropping more sets & playing longer matches in recent years. Two next gen players ended his aspirations for CGS two years in a row. Sinner beat him 3/4 last meetings. The only reason You-Know-Who was able to be in a position to win his 8th ATP Final is because Sinner didn't throw his match against Meddy.

His commitment to this tournament was different than last year from the pre-tournament on. He grinded last year for the well known reasons, this year he was mostly flat. Nice words to Sinner, who absolutely deserved to play finals.
Good sportsmanship. However, time will catch-up with every great sportsman, and eventually there is the changing of the guard. It appears it is starting to turn. Great champion and great words.
It took Djokovic to beat Djokovic. Sinner was a younger, stronger Djokovic today. Amazing baseline game, precision, power of both wings, tremendous serve, and a warrior's mindset. Sinner is a machine!
Haters may hate him, but what Novak is achieving at this age is just awesome. Sinner was playing great didn't give Novak a single break point on the other hand Novak's first serve and his back hand didn't help him in the first 2 sets which cost him the game. Tennis really looks in good hands with the young players increasing their level of tennis
Sinner is better than Alcaraz at the moment in terms of capitalizing on break points and consistency else he would not have beat Novak today for sure. Big 3 specially Novak and Rafa always know how to come back with even the slightest of light at the end of the tunnel.
Great press conference from Novak, a lot of insides on his level and feelings durings this AO 👍. I would say his level on sets 3 and 4 were “not so bad” :)) and against other players he may have found a way to turn it around, but Sinner just played perfect today and was almost imposible for anyone to play at his level.
What he actually said: "It doesn't necessarily mean that it's the beginning of the end." What the video title says: "It's not the beginning of the end." The title writer has to shorten it. But in doing so, he or she skews the meaning significantly. Novak is being more honest than the video's title writer. Novak is saying that it could be the beginning of the end, or it could not be the beginning of the end yet. "Let's see." he said. We don't know the future, and I appreciate Nole's honesty and frankness.
he was worse, if that was possible but serious kudos to sinner for not choking and keeping it together to put him away, that was the hardest thing esp after a match point saved.
Sad for Djokovic. He exudes sadness and in a way a resigned sort of demeanor in his presser, knowing his time in professional tennis is probably beginning to reach the inevitable in that he will find it harder to win slams from here onwards. Yes, he was injured perhaps and the conditions maybe were not ideal and his physical condition coming into AO was not the best, But he has achieved so much and been dominant the past decade that it must be quite a shock for someone like him, the way he got beat today and the manner which it unfolded. I think most of us saw signs that he was not at optimum level coming into the AO. Kudos to him for reaching the SFs. Aside from physical ailments, he has indeed lost more than half a step in his game. Just enjoy him a little while longer. Go Novak!!
My two favourite sportsmen are Novak and Letissier. Not because they refused the jab, but because they stood their ground from a moral standpoint. DON'T follow THE science!! DEBATE the science! So, Djokovic‘s summary is, if he would have played normal, he would have won it. Novak, every player is playing so well how the opponent is allowing it! Jannik was simple better than you today in 3 of 4 sets. Very simple!
1st of all Respect to Novak, he won everything that was winnable, his name is carved into the wall of legends. Great fair play and I hope he could help Jannik even if he is his opponent...inheriting and heir.
He is just disappointed at himself, the way he is talking tell us everything, BUT also he said some great and honest words to Sinner. A real sportsman!
I don't always like his on court behavior and he isn't my favorite among the big 3. But I have nothing but respect for his achievement. And he always is very gracious in defeat (although he rarely is defeated).
If you're a true tennis fan, you likely understand why some people don't like Djokovic. This interview alone doesn't reveal his true colors. His on-court behavior has been less than ideal over the years, although he may have improved as he matures. However, many believe he won't attain legendary status like Federer and Nadal.
He faked his visa application. He partied naked in the middle of Covid lockdown. He hits rackets and balls out of frustration. So he did today too. Some are dangerously close to ballkids. Others hit linesman. He doesn’t change his behavior. He intimidates opponents using angry gestures. He instigates Sheldon for example because he demand respect when respect is something you earn.
@@1101chim It's taken a long time, but he does seem to be keeping his anger under control these days. Many props to Djokovic for advocating for the lower ranked players during Covid lockdowns to enable them to survive...it's tough enough for them to earn a living under normal circumstances.
Smashing expensive racquets on court is off putting to many fans. Fed and Rafa were always more controlled and respectful on court. Also, Fed and Rafa fans were none too happy seeing the Serb overtake their guys in Grand Slam titles.
@@1101chimI think it is more due to the fact that his style of playing tennis is not as entertaining to watch from the perspective of some people. You can see Federer fans always hyping up Alcaraz, but Sinner doesn’t get the same treatment because of the play style.

Magnanimous in defeat. I true icon to be emulated. 💕💕💕 I would not be surprised if he won Wimbledon again this year.
Not the first time that happen, not the last. remember his lost here in early round against Istomin, lost at Wimbledon against Querrey, completely destroyed by Medvedev in 2021 USO final, but came back strong. of course now it will be difficult, because young guns are raising their level very high and he is not getting younger, but consistency is what Djokovic still is the best at and i believe he will be able to win a few slams more.
I've been watching tennis for years and I understand that you cheer for someone else, but this is not normal how satisfied people are when someone lose. They wait him to lose and then write comments. Insane how much they think about him and how much his winning bothers them. I found them happier with Djokovic's lost more than Sinner's win. Insane. Yeah, one thing you all forgot who is still number one in the world and that he lost to a guy who is much younger than him which is normal, and I don't take anything from Sinner he was the best player in the tournament so far without a doubt, but Djokovic played awful. And we all know what's coming after these things 😉

All players are salty when they lose. Of course you read it between the lines. The man has won 10 Slams there. Did you watch the match?!! He dumped so many unforced errors into the net. He missed lines badly, he returned badly, he didn’t hit with enough power because he was tentative because he was missing. So yes he didn’t play well and he is describing that while being classy in defeat. What do you people want him to say?! He said tons of nice things about Sinner and he meant them. He has a great relationship with the young guns. I watched the match. He didn’t do dirty tactics. He never faked an injury or left the court between sets. Yes he took extra time to disrupt Sinner’s rhythm. He was getting waxed! All of the top players have done that over the years. Novak is a good man and people nitpick him because he’s not Roger or Rafa. Not everyone is born with that temperament. Are you all who complain about Joker fans of McEnroe, Nastase, Connors, Kyrgios, Serena and a ton of other players who showed emotion and temper at times? Imagine your every moment at your job broadcast around the world. He lost with class. He always came back stronger, I have no doubts about him.
He’s coming back weaker getting older
When he won the third set, all of us, used to seeing him come back miraculously, were expecting another one, but he is just a human and this defeat is just a friendly remember of how difficult is to achieve what he is achieved, especially in this time with so many great contenders. What a legend, not only the GOAT of this sport, but also one of the best athletes ever.
Hes 37.... everyrhing he do now is just a bonus.
I love Nole but nice to see other players earning the chance to slams.
Making history on their own terms.

What he actually said: "It doesn't necessarily mean that it's the beginning of the end."
What the video title says: "It's not the beginning of the end."
The title writer has to shorten it.
For some reason he was playing at the same level as he was in the US 2021 finals.
he was worse, if that was possible but serious kudos to sinner for not choking and keeping it together to put him away, that was the hardest thing esp after a match point saved.
Go Novak!!

I just don't understand how some people can't like him 🤯 he is the best and a good person 🤝🏻

No one hurries to get into position for service return when they’re getting merked and they can’t do anything right that day. He played one great match before against Fritz and the rest were shaky. Fritz played amazing and Joker still beat him.
What was percentage of Novak first serve in set 1 and 2. ? Novak had too many unforced errors . I must admit Sinner looked unbeatable .
Have not always been a Novak fan but I thought he gave a honest assessment here and also I watched his interview on 60 minutes and came away with a new perspective. He would make a great commentator when his career is done. His analysis of how Sinne4 has improved was spot on

Yes he's not playing well, okay so what? He's 4 years away from 40. The retirement age of tennis.
The journalist said, "Is this just an off tournament for you?" Anyone who makes it to the semifinals doesn't have an "off tournament"-not even Novak.
Your victories & loses feel personal Nole 🌷
It didn’t seem like a physical issue. Nole hit the net a lot. I’m sure he will come back stronger. Congrats to Sinner.
I´m so glad for Jannik!!! He´s such a good player, humble and resilient!
One can hear in Novak's voice that he is still fighting some kind of cold, that this is not his voice.
Sinner said that Novak wasn't himself today so maybe that is why its understandable he didn't celebrate much in the end.
I don't see Sinner losing the title if he plays with Meddy, but if Sasha gets past you never know with him, I can't expect anything from him at the moment he seems unreadable
It’s crazy how when he is smashing every single player in the world haters be so quiet and then every once in a while when he looses 1 match they just pop up.And every single time that happens they be saying “oh yes he is done, get retired you are finished” he just proves them wrong again and again.Sinner played amazing and he deserved that win.Imagine hating on the greatest that ever held the racket
Is it possible he didn’t play great because of the pressure Sinner imposed - I think so.
That might actually be true. Novak feels Sinner's playing style doesn't fit him.
So far he is the King but even a King has to give his chair to someone young and new!
Bravo to Djokovic and Sinner!
Best of luck in the Final!
To bad no new prince ....
Absolute class
Djokovic you not a robot, and yes it is the beginning of the end.The young players took notice of your defeat today.
Someday no matter how good you are your going to lose. Inevitable. It’s incredible that Novak has had such an incredible career
