NS P29 with Mongolian Exports: New Bern to Morehead City, NC - 1/8/2024

Norfolk Southern P29 eastbound from New Bern to Morehead City, NC with four broad gauge EMD export locomotives heading to Mongolia.
This was the second shipment of SD70ACe/LW exports for the Tavan Tolgoi Railway, a new coal and copper line across the Gobi Desert that opened in September of 2022. These recent EMD exports are the first "Russian broad gauge" locomotives for the Port of Morehead City.
In this video, eastbound P29 is seen on the Trent River swing bridge in New Bern, rolling east through downtown Newport, and street running on Arendell Street in downtown Morehead City. Norfolk Southern's EC-line between Goldsboro and Morehead City is the former Atlantic & East Carolina, which became part of the Southern Railway in 1958. P29 runs daily (Monday-Friday) as a turn job from New Bern to Morehead City.
