  • Some lines from a few weeks of skiing in Austria in late February-early March 2022.
After a few weeks of skiing in Arlberg and Kitzbühel I went to Heiligenblut, a tiny town in Carinthia in Southern Austria. Heiligenblut sits at the base of Austria's highest mountain: the Großglockner. Storms with extreme wind but little snow made the skiing difficult but one afternoon the winds died down and I toured out of the top of the resort to ski the South Face of Brennkogel with incredible views of the Hohe Tauern.
Next I went to Innsbruck and met up with Zack and we skied the NE Couloir of Riepenwand just outside of the Schlick 2000 resort. The couloir is about 2,000' with massive limestone walls on either side. It looks like the Dolomites but it's only 20 minutes from Innsbruck.
Another day, Zack and I skied the Ruderhofspitze, one of the highest peaks in the Stubai Alps. We took the bus to the Stubai Glacier and then climbed 5,800' to the summit and skied some nice corn on the descent.
