Amazing how versatile he already was. His voice contribution to the backing vocals was an important part of the Depeche Mode sound. Think of all these older songs they could still play live if he was still in the band...
@@brody5211 You are probably right... and then again, they played Photographic a few tours back, so who knows? It’s a shame if they do not play them again though, as they are a huge part of their history and of the reason they became so popular.
@@MrPomelo555 the sun and the rainfall and blasphemous rumours are just two wonderful songs I can’t ever imagine them playing live - I remember master and servant coming back but sounded terrible live
What an interview! They are so youthful and the naturalness comes across 200%! Watch Dave - and you won't be able not to keep smiling;-) There's this exceptional honesty about bands when they're "still new". Beautiful! Xanthosine - you're so right - we never see anything like it these days:-(
This is some of the best quality old footage I've ever seen! Dave is so cool in the interview and I love that 'See You' was performed live, unlike on a lot of other programmes in the 80's. Great stuff!!!

These guys broke ground back then. True 'pioneers' of synth. So glad to have seen this interview. Back then they just simply sounded good . Full Closure as of today. Grateful to have been a kid back then. Truly Blessed to have reached full circle today.
All it matters that D🌹M is truly an amazing band. Dave awesome singer and their melody superb a jewel. Doesn’t matter what instrument is play by this great band. They have demonstrated through 40 years that they were not scared to try new things with their music style, fashion, and composition they are always on target. I love D🌹M from the very beginning of their careers until present time. This band it’s the ultimate perfection. They had their ups/ downs but they managed to remained Roger and give their devotees fans nothing but the best!!!! Dave and Martin struggled with things but thank God they got out of that. I think they’re authentic, honest, they love what they do and it shows.
so cute , Dave was nervous and her accent was so strong, still very good Dave, what a voice!!!!, and on top he makes you feel how much he enjoy their music, that was his brand from that moment and on, wonderful to listen Alan Martin Dave vocals pure gold, something precious definitely
Thanks for adding this..Ohh..I remember it so well..as a young teenager sitting and listen to this live on my Swedish tele.. with my Korg Polysix =:o))
1:45 "What do you want people to experience when they listen to music?" Dave: "Just have good fun, and enjoy it with us. They don't have to find anything from the music or the lyrics, as long as they enjoy it." Coming from the band whose songwriter quite possibly writes more religious metaphors than any other band. Ah, dear, if they even knew what was gonna happen to them in the years to come. But we do enjoy it :')
I remember when this was aired. There was a definite buzz around it! The interviewer is Susanne Olsson - a model who later married one of my favourite pop journalists, Lars Wallrup. All those interviews were a bit cringe-making, but this one was more fun than most. The one with Paul Weller is on the Jam DVD, and he was a whole lot more patronising towards her than Gahan. Predictably, maybe.
Very awkward beginning of the interview...The woman: "very welcome here David", Dave :"Pardon?", the woman: "this time I said very welcome here David..."; Dave: "ahah, Dave...David yeah...". Awkward but funny, lol.
hahaha You're right. I often look at the old videos and imagine. Starting off by playing in schools. Schools!! haha Can you imagine Depeche Mode playing at your school??? Well, I am long out of school but even in my day it woulda been crazy. Long live DM!
Ahead of their time , not exactly , DM invented the wheel so to speak , Kraftwek may have been first but DM took melodic synthpop to the highest level at that time and spun it around all over the world and back and everyone copied them , Giorgio Moroder , Cerrone , Kraftwerk , and several others came before its true , DM polished it to another level .
Måndagsbörsen ("The Monday Bourse") was a major show in Sweden in the early 80's that i remember from my childhood. Also known for and outrageously embarrasing interview with the Jam in 1981. The Jam even included that very interview on a collection. But still a good show for new and interesting music from the UK.
So shy and always shrugging his shoulders... and making grammar mistakes (Vins write the lyrics)... That was nice. I am dreaming of getting back to those times once again.
dave make a very good job!!!!!!!!!! in every stage e just like to sing "live" and made not a playback song..thats cool and this is a good job.. thats a true love to his own music and its not the shit from today with the other music groups because the most sing on playback and not live and that's terrible.. but depeche mode loves the music true and that is this what I love...and i like handmade electronic music or techno music..and depeche mode are the best ones.....thank you dave and dm :-)
Que peques se ven. Ahora toda la música está contaminada de "sonidos" electrónicos, pero DEPECHE MODE en aquellos años y ahora también siguen siendo unos genios.
I agree. And for some reason it seems as if Fletch got far more camera on him, in the early days, than Martin and Vince/Andy. Perhaps it due to his "camera friendly" placement or something (unlike Martin/Vince who often stood more in the background or far side). Personally, I also like to see the background vocals, which I really like. :) Cool to hear Andy and Martin singing, and even coolier to watch them doing it.

Who are you talking about ?
Aww, he was so young and so adorble!!!
He is so adorable. Yesterday, now and for ever.
He truly has a excellent voice,,one of the best voices.
Alan Wilder has just joined the band, and he's about to take Depeche Mode to International Fame..
Amazing how versatile he already was. His voice contribution to the backing vocals was an important part of the Depeche Mode sound. Think of all these older songs they could still play live if he was still in the band...

ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE D.M. !!
"Dav... David yes" Hahah poor Dave was nervous and scared this interview xD
Saw them at The Tower Theater in Philadelphia in 1986 - Black Celebration Tour. One of the best shows I've ever been to.

Yes!!! Finally, an early live performance... and it's good! Well done, DM!

Dave Gahan dans ce live on a l impression de voir un gamin de 14 ans pourtant il en a 20 ,il a une peau de bébé.Il a un trop beau visage.
