I would make it a very clear rule for my spouse to never propose at someone else’s wedding, I’m happy the bride was in on it but I wouldn’t want someone to just up stage us at my wedding

The bride literally turned around and handed her the bouquet instead of throwing it. Do you know the significance of catching the bouquet? It means you're the next one who's getting married. So the bride was in on it, and was clearly cool with them getting engaged at their wedding, otherwise the bride and/or groom would've said no, and that entire stunt wouldn't have been pulled. Otherwise, yes, totally not cool to propose at someone else's wedding.

I think is it hard to make a fair judgement as to whether or not a proposal at another's couple wedding is inappropriate as "we" do not know the circumstances surrounding what happened. Both future bride and groom (in this video) were part of the wedding party, so it is reasonable to conclude that they were important to the just married couple (and the bride seems to be enjoying the moment of her bridesmaid). It is obvious that, at least the bride was in on it and was willing to help the future groom pull off his plan. Likewise, it might be possible that the bride actually suggested it to the future groom but we do not know. I am quite certain that if either the bride or groom were not comfortable with a proposal at their wedding, they would have nixed the idea as soon as the future groom asked them about. If this were my wedding and considering the circumstances as a whole as they appear in this video, I would have absolutely said yes to this happening. The important part of the day - the actual wedding - is done and, as it appears, all that is left is to happen is the post dinner celebration. One of my friends at my wedding was doing spot on Frank Sinatra songs during my reception but by that time, the exchanging of vows and rings, and our first dance, that what we wanted to share with our family and guests, were complete. My wife (of 30 years) and I see that moment as part of the larger picture of wonderful memories of our special day. It is, in fact, what we remember most about our reception. Weddings are a powerful reminder of what it means to love and be loved, and sharing our spotlight, at the right time, with another person or couple so that they could express their love to one another is absolutely welcome to me. I do not think that this proposal diminishes the importance or memories of the day for the bride and groom. I would very much like to know when that couple finally had their big day and hope that they have had many years of love and happiness together.
