Also, this 50 points deficit isn't huge. 2 bad tournaments by Gukesh and 2 good ones by Pragg and then the difference wouldn't be much. These 2 are really promising kids who'll be fighting for the helm of chess in the coming future
He is such a nice person, down to earth. Also not denying the fact that studies are also important. And them both managing it. Its a dream for a middle class person to see his children do well. He's very proud but also down to earth. God Bless him 🧡🤍💙💚
Genuine humbleness and Indianess written all over this family. I won't be surprised if this family achieves lot of fame and glory will continue to lead humble and simple lives perhaps even struggle to figure out how to use the fame and glory. Stay focused on chess Sir and we will have a world champion in Prag and Vaishali. Hope to see Prag wearing that Vibhuti on his forehead all his life especially when he is a world champion. It will become the mark of humility humbleness and purity.
For now, I can't recall of a more humble person I've ever come across in my life. He's some divine level! Thank you so much, Sagar and Chessbase India, for bringing such people to limelight. Keeps us so grounded and in whoa of this mysterious life and its sheer force behind mind-boggling talents and lives! 🙏🔥
A special thank you to Sagar and Amruta for always managing to find gems in terms of people. Just like Prag's dad is so genuine, I was struck with the same feeling when I first came across sagar shah via samay's stream. THe purity of heart from both sagar and amruta shone so bright that there was instant respect and admiration for both them. They still have it in them to attract genuine people and back it up with service to chess. Hope sagar shah is awarded some day for his contributions to chess and chessbase India is recognized as a platform for all things chess in India.
How humble. Despite the troubles how this family has reached the top. I am overwhelmed with their simplicity. May God be with them & grant them all the success & happiness. 🙏
Your unwavering commitment and love have been the driving force behind Praggnanandhaa's success, and your role as a parent and mentor is truly inspiring. Your sacrifices, encouragement, and guidance have undoubtedly shaped him into the exceptional chess player he is today. You are very down to Earth!
I used to wonder how come pragg had lower rating than gukesh, even though he started playing earlier than him. it could be either he was playing less compared to gukesh or he didnt win much. then came to know that he didnt play much in last 2-3 years - focused on studies. and played online tournaments which is not given any rating by fide. gukesh played more regular matches and so got higher rating. gukesh dad too said that, expenses are difficult to manage ( inspite of being an ENT doctor and his mom also is working) so for pragg too, it would not have been easy to play all tournaments, and that could also be a reason why didnt play so many matches.
Don't Indian government pay them or chess association like BCCI in cricket ? Meanwhile Prag got lots of money by excellent performance in meltwater tournament. But in rapid section.

I find that some of our friends have been regularly commenting about pragg. gukesh etc being tamils, that tamils are intellectually superior etc.. Am a tamil and wish to share my views on this. just as there are intelligent people here in tamilnadu, there are intellectually superior people not only from other indian states, but from all across the world. Like our gukesh and pragg, there are abdussattarov (rather entire uzbek team is similar to our india 2 team) and many other talented boys ... gm ali reza, the 2nd ranked iranian born french player is also a teenager. the polish women who beat vaishali y'day, has won her 9th game, like gukesh. she is not even a GM i heard. why former soviet republics are too good in chess? bcoz, chess has been a popular sport in ussr / russian republics for a long time. and, so is east european nations. had russia and china been here in olympiad, the situation here would be very different. do we say that russia is intellectually superior then? No. its just that they had focused, put in effort in this direction for some time which are yielding results. others can also do that, only it will take some time to give results. everything depends on focus, dedication and effort. as vishy anand is from tamilnadu, chess became more popular here, compared to other states. but that does not mean, others are intellectually inferior. there are many things happening in other states australia & WI have dominated world cricket for long. then, india started focusing on cricket in big level. results are there now, for all to see dominance of india in world cricket. all of us, from india and pakistan , bangladesh, myanmar, sri lanka, bhutan, tibet, afghanistan etc, belonged to Bharat / India till 1919... all of us can be proud of our languages, regional culture etc, but same time, we shall never forget that our true, eternal civilizational identity as ONE ,belonging to Bharat... we may be different from point of view of language, religion etc, but we are ONE & inseparably linked through our culture of bharat, since thousands of years. we are tamils, telugus, kannadigas, marathas, bengalis, assamees, pubjabis, biharis, but only after our identity as indians / those belonging to bharat. How is it not middle class anymore . These days even middle class people earn above 1 lakh per month . Banks would pay less than 1 lakh per month .
