Just to clear up the baking powder vs. soda thing:
Baking SODA is sodium bicarbonate and it creates carbon dioxide when it reactes with something acidic like lemon juice or buttermilk. That way it makes the batter more airy. The thing is that it does not work without any acid in the batter.
Baking POWDER is baking soda + acid, so you do not have to add anything else acidic.
omg thank you for explaining this! I was a bit confused with the video's explanation..this makes so much sense!
Adding that your baking soda can overreact and ‘fall’, which is why some recipes call for both to be used to provide extra lift/make sure it rises evenly. Or why changing the flavor/amounts of your acid can accidentally ruin a batch. Learned that the hard way in my baked goods journey lol

@@nicholem4831 if he'd done the colours separately it could've worked. I don't remember if the drizzle changed the colour of the cupcake but if he did separate drizzles of the different colours then it might look rainbow.

@@gracehowell. So, I live in Europe and I have never seen a savory muffin. Also... I have never eaten a muffin for breakfast. A muffin for me is literally a cake but in a muffin tin. So when they said that neither Laurens nor Zacks were muffins I was just so shocked because those are the most muffiny to me.
But as I said I live in Europe, we have different food and food traditions here. If Americans have savory muffins that's totally cool and also if you say a sweet muffin is a cupcake/cake in my ol European heart I only know sweet.
But would also really like to try a savory muffin sometime, looks kinda epic ngl :)

I've made some muffins with little tofu cubes that where really good (and from an actual recipe). - So I guess meat should also work, you just substitute the tofu with meat, sort of ... er ...

I can't be the only one wanting the guys to make a cookbook out of all the winning recipes?? With the whole process filmed, they should be able to recreate it well. So many of them get outstanding critique, I'm really curious how they manage to guess such good recipes
And maybe have Ro help to make the recipes easier and make the taste better. Most of the winning recipes still have a few downfalls so Ro could help them over come that.
