@Jason_Maier I think you put in a GCI Gravity Group kind of has a shaky track record in terms of coaster smoothness. For example modern GCI coasters like InvadR and Mystic Timbers are both smooth rides while Mine Blower at Fun Spot is kind of a rough ride. Not to mention GCI has titan track they can use to smooth any potential rough parts of a wooden coaster.
Safe to say you haven’t ridden Anaconda in a long time. This coaster was HORRID in recent rides. Head banging is terrible and the ride is just too rough to enjoy.

You mentioning a hyper and Vekoma flying coaster back-to-back sounds very reminiscent of Paramount’s original plan: build a Morgan hyper parallel to I-95, along with the Dutchman that eventually went to SF America. Wouldn’t be mad with that plan at all!
I really think the STC would make the most sense here as North America doesn't have one yet and the 2 over in Europe are doing pretty well for themselves and it would be a very different ride experience to Alpengeist which is the biggest inverted coaster out there but the STC is more airtime focused and B&M inverts are more focused on the inversions and positive G-forces. That and they could make it an addition to their new Jungle Expedition area as well. hell it could even be a hyper as well as Alpengeist stands at 195 feet tall and the STC could stand at 205 feet tall that leads into the tallest inversion on an inverted coaster be filled with airtime, have 9 other inversions dotted throughout the ride, adding to its record-breaking nature of it as no coaster in North America has a coaster with an inversion count that's in the double digits and going upside down 10 times would be a different experience hanging below the track as all other 10-inversion coasters are above the track making it a unique ride experience and it could have orange track with similar green supports as anaconda as that would tie in really well to that new area. It could end up being better than volcano ever was as it would be a more well-rounded ride experience than volcano and it would bring an inverted coaster back to the park as that is a coaster type that is missing ever since Volcano bit the dust a few years ago.
Also I really don't believe that the park would take five years to install a replacement attraction for anaconda. The original hurricane reef section of the Waterpark originally opened in 1992 probably because they had to backfill most of lake Charles for anacondas construction in the summer of 1990.
Never liked this ride anyways. I went to KD once in my life and this was the second coaster I went on there, the first being Dominator. Rough and very slow after that mid-course. Sure, it was still very beautiful to look at, which is one reason why I’m sad to see it go. I hope KD can find a way to use Anaconda’s plot better because its area is pretty damn big.
Id like to see a next gen Vekoma looper like Lech Coaster that drops into the underwater tunnel and features 2 slow corkscrews at the end to pay tribute
A straddle coaster themed to air/swamp boats with a propeller on the front of the train would be siiiiiick. Then get rid of backlot since you upgraded family coasters.
I thought the ride was ok I wish I got last rides since the layout was unique and the corkscrews had fun hangtime I'm tired of these ride closures without the chances of final rides it's irritating
I have not been thrilled with the results this merger has delivered. I may look forward to every Top Thrill 2 and Steel Vengeance that gets announced, but the Nighthawks, and Vortexes and Anacondas and let's not forget Kingda Ka all have fans and deserve respect too! Yes! The latest rides are doing things we've only dreamed of for so long, but to get into the seat of an Arrow Dynamics ride from decades ago just hits different with the hand bent transitions and the clunking of the fibreglass trains. It's imperfect by design and I love it.
Cutting loses to make room for new investments is good business. If Six Flags can see this all the way through with good decisions for replacements it will benefit enthusiasts
I guess that leaves Backlot to be rethemed for the serpent temple for Jungle X. If we’re talking replacement rides I think a Gerstlauer invert with a swing launch would take care of a couple needs.
It was about time Anaconda left Kings Dominion. Even though i enjoyed it Anaconda was old, unpopular and its plot is pretty valuble being near Backlot Stunt Coaster, Intimadator 305, Rapterra and Flight Of Fear, being over the water and its in the most new and popular section of Kings Dominion Jungle Expidition. That spot can fit a better ride there.
I mean, I didn't like the ride either, But I'm outraged that the park waited until the season was practically over to announce its closure. That's a slap in the face to ALL coaster enthusiasts, Regardless how bad a ride is.
I'm hoping Darien Lake is immune to these removals in that EPR has the final say as to what stays and what goes. IMO, Darien Lake can't afford to remove anything else without replacing it right away.
Wouldn't be shocked if Anaconda was removed suddenly to send its spares to DL's Viper. If they can't wait for Demon or CP's Corkscrew to close, they could be moving around assets to sell off its contract soon.
Let's see if in 5 days Kings Island announces Invertigo or Bat's closure. (This is only meant as a joke, but seeing that in the past month, SF has announced the removals of almost 10 rides, it very well could happen)
This is actually crazy. I feel like coasters aren’t safe. I understand it from the company looking to cut cost and save money. Also them having a lot of capital now to spend on new investments, but it is without warning. I need to ride Viper before it is suddenly taken away. I am also starting to worry about X2 now which I was sure they would never touch a couple months ago.
You should actually be scared of Superman leaving. The park loves Viper, even tho corporate can ignore them. I bet once they announce the next coaster coming, BAM superman is set to close
@@hellacia8151superman is a dead man walking at this point from my understanding…. The park is pleading their case with corporate to let it run one last season so everyone can get their last rides in, but there’s a good shot they say no of course The announcement is likely to be made shortly after or in tandem with the announcement for the 2026 coaster. That way they can still claim to own 20 coasters.
I'm not too upset this ride is being taken out, But the fact Cedar fair was quick to come out with this when the season is practically over. Embarrassing.
Brandon, have a great and fulfilling Christmas! As long as Six Flags strengthens the coaster line ups, I'm open to their plans! A Mack coaster would be great for this spot. But I'm scared that now X2 might be next.
I'd choose Anaconda over Dominator; and I did! Only rode Dominator once and Anaconda twice when I was there earlier this year! Also, the walkway was nice to walk on; very springy. Glad I got to ride this (and Nighthawk) before they got removed at least. A nice hyper at KD would be good, and is a lacking option. This is why Rapterra will be so good next year; it does kind of fill that hole. I'll vote for Carolina Cyclone and Vortex to get the axe at Carowinds, and Invertigo at KI, please and thank you.
Let's be for real Cedar Fair is trying to be very concerned about all these lawsuits especially the one that had with Top Thrill and they want to avoid all costs of any lawsuit that may pop up with any of those roller coasters that involves the whole company as a whole
@@adreamalways14 dude..... but Anaconda?!?! Where is the danger in Anaconda? There is none. Stop it. It has nothing to do with a lawsuit that is already settled, if I recall. Even if it isn't, the only ride you could say that about is Ka.
...I mean, that's one way for Christmas to come early. Shame we can't hate-ride it one last time, though. Have to wonder if the trains will go to Darien Lake's Viper. If they're looking to sell off that contract, they'll want to ensure it has as many spares as it can get. That's arguably one of the best Arrow loopers left and deserves to snake about as long as posssssible.
@@brianfoss571 Anaconda wasn't bad though. I had a few good rides on it every year the past few years. I put it right up there with Viper at Darien Lake. Not too shaky. Over the water. I had fun. Maybe I caught them both on good days? Idk.....
Since the merger with six flags they are intending to payoff the costs quickly by reducing maintenance costs. KD is going ti have an empty plot just like Vortex. It’s going to be years before anything significant comes to any of the parks.
Will any of these Arrow Coasters survive and should they? I hope some can be preserved and others relocated. Like the wooden coasters of the Boardwalk era - Arrow and Swartzkopf were pioneers in steel coasters! Loch Ness Monster should still represent Arrow Dynamics for another generation.
It's unlikely kings dominion gets a B&M invert sense Alpengiest at BGW is only an hour away. Kings Dominion and BGW don't like adding coasters the other park has.
Always sad to see an old Arrow coaster be removed, they are retirement pieces of coaster history. Being constructed over the water, it really did have an amazing look to it. Rode it many times over my coaster career, the last time in 2023, and man did it get rough! Reminded me of the short lived Arrow Drachen Fire, and that's when Drachen Fire first opened! 😂 Still, miss that one, and will miss Anaconda too. But hopefully something better will be in it's place.
Great idea. A family inverted coaster would be the best bet especially since KD doesn't have an inverted coaster anymore. This would be a great fit over the water.
You might not miss it, but I will. I always liked this ride. That being said, I’d love to see a tilt coaster here diving into the underwater tunnel. Would be unique.
My immediate thought when you said, anaconda was closing was….”Vekoma, or B&M flyers would be so cool over the water there!” I’ll take any intamin over it but, we know that’s probably not the case. It’ll probably be another wack kid ride!
I glad this concussion machine is going!!! I would like to see a launched inverted coaster, one that has a ride time of at least a minute and a half. Really miss Volcano.
They likely are . But Sleighride, SilverBullet, Corn Popper, Rolling Thunder, Haymaker, Shipwreck falls, The Go karts and bating cages and the paddle boats are first. ( Grizzly run at this rate who knows ).
I think an inverted coaster would be great at KD! My personal, unprofessional opinion is that the park has really been missing an inverted coaster since Volcano left us. And yes, now BGW will have 2 inverts not far down the road, but that doesn’t help when you’re at KD and want to ride one while there.
With more Arrow Coasters getting removed, I wonder when Cedar Point will remove Corkscrew, Iron Dragon, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Gemini, and I hate to say this, the Magnum XL 200? Those 5 coasters (except Magnum) have the low ridership due to roughness, head banging, and maintenance nightmares. Those rides are between 35 and 50+ years old.
This one is sad because I rode the ride when I went up there in July. I felt it was a much better ride than it was given credit for, and I’m sad to see it go due to the location and the placement on the lake. The next ride in its place better build off the lake theme as well
What do you think the fate of Ninja at SFStL is with the merger? Seeing a lot of these old Venomas get the axe, praying Ninja is next/soon. Terrible ride on a great piece of land up front.
YES YES YESSSSSS!!! As someone who visits Kings Dominion often I’m so glad Anaconda is leaving. That ride will ruin your entire day. It’s so rough and painful.
I'm not a fan of the new trend of off-season closures. I hope Six Flags is just cleaning house on some outdated coasters that are hard to support. If this is just the new norm for Six Flags coaster closures, that will really suck. Many of the coasters being removed are old and less popular, but I still think park fans deserve the respect of having coaster closures announced ahead of time.
Should had it been given the opportunity for last rides for people to send it off? Absolutely. Six Flags continues to shoot themselves by doing this and it will show when their attendance numbers are down 10-20% next year. Was this a good coaster? Hell no. Let’s not pretend this was a good coaster cause it’s gone now folks. There are great Arrows like Tennessee Tornado and Loch Ness. Then there is … this. Addition by subtraction. Honestly even with this ridiculous practice of not giving last rides, this was a Christmas gift. Good riddance Anaconda.

I’m going to miss those last 2 corkscrews and the drop
Sad day another arrow gone. Loved the ride when I was a kid
For those who don’t like Anaconda, it’ll probably be good news
Yeah I doubt it will be sorely missed
I mean, I didn't like the ride either, But I'm outraged that the park waited until the season was practically over to announce its closure. That's a slap in the face to ALL coaster enthusiasts, Regardless how bad a ride is.
@@JoeyH-sb3fq I’m assuming you wanted one last run, which is fair. I can agree with that
It seems like Ninja at Six Flags St. Louis could go soon, too.
Can’t wait for them to take 6 years to replace it
they should do 1st giga dive coaster going into the old underwater tunnel.
If they can't wait for Demon or CP's Corkscrew to close, they could be moving around assets to sell off its contract soon.
six flags/ CF do not own Darien Lake, if anything, they can discontinue the WB license that's all.
@@anthonyantoniohughes1184 I know - that's why I referred to Six Flags' operating contract
They need to put a Vekoma inverted THRILL not family coaster
I’d rather see them add massive dive coaster instead of a family inverted. Sense you indicated that BGW was up the street.
Let's see if in 5 days Kings Island announces Invertigo or Bat's closure.
(This is only meant as a joke, but seeing that in the past month, SF has announced the removals of almost 10 rides, it very well could happen)
Hopefully Invertigo leaves
2024-2025 is going to be out busting bingo cards. Six Flags is playing Roller Coaster Removal Roulette.
The park is pleading their case with corporate to let it run one last season so everyone can get their last rides in, but there’s a good shot they say no of course
The announcement is likely to be made shortly after or in tandem with the announcement for the 2026 coaster. That way they can still claim to own 20 coasters.
@ I already expect Superman to go. It is never open and I haven’t seen it run in at least half a year. It will suck to lose Drop of Doom though.
@@AFCompany X2 will be ok for now probably but don’t definitely don’t count on it still being there long term. Ride it while you can
@@hellacia8151Superman leaving wouldn't be a big loss to me it's not that good of a ride.
It won’t be next. I’d be worried about Superman in the same park before I’d be worried about X2
You think about it too, they could actually reuse the anaconda theme or name with a hyper in that section of the park.
I feel bad for Airtime thrills.
What about him ???
@@ArrowThrills In early December 2019, he made a video of coasters that may dissapear in 5 years. Anaconda was #1.
I rode Anaconda in 2013 and it was a real head banger. I'm surprised they haven't gotten rid of it earlier.
I am one of the only people who actually liked this ride so I’m sad to see it close though I am excited as I think the replacement will be much better
Hope they build something amazing over the water there.
I have feeling demon Will go at six flags great America.
Demons too iconic, they could refurb it and save it
I hope so
I don't think so I think the next coaster Great America will remove is American Eagle.
They will probably use parts for it once demon at CGA leaves
...I mean, that's one way for Christmas to come early.
Idk.....
Your absolutely right; Viper seems to be the perfect Arrow coaster. I could see that sticking around another 20 years
Since the merger with six flags they are intending to payoff the costs quickly by reducing maintenance costs.
Yeah BGW will never get rid of that one. Especially now that they totally refurbished it
A B&M invert would make so much sense because it fills a gap. they no longer have an inverted coaster since volcano closed.
They should have built a new Volcano, just with a different company. Huge miss.
That’s a great idea.
My immediate thought when you said, anaconda was closing was….”Vekoma, or B&M flyers would be so cool over the water there!” I’ll take any intamin over it but, we know that’s probably not the case. It’ll probably be another wack kid ride!
Merry Christmas! Have a nice mass
I glad this concussion machine is going!!! I would like to see a launched inverted coaster, one that has a ride time of at least a minute and a half. Really miss Volcano.
Yeah, it was sad to see volcano go. That one was awesome, even though there were some area of the line that made you very claustrophobic!
Merry Christmas thanks,for your thoughts
Merry Christmas!
They better not even be thinking of removing SFDL Viper. Its a great coaster!
I’m not at all opposed to this particular removal but they need to start chilling out with the speed of ride removals
Those rides are between 35 and 50+ years old.
they could build a vekoma lunch coaster that dives in and out of the water with trees surrounding the water for a more jungle look
🤤
Cedar fair is on a killing spree
Merry Christmas, Brandon!
Let's hope Viper has some life left... It's a dying breed!
Which Viper? SFDL or SFMM?
@ SFMM.
Merry Christmas to you too!
Record breaking B&M flyer over the water BOOM!
Merry Christmas Brandon to you and your family.
Merry Christmas to you too! Thank you
This one is sad because I rode the ride when I went up there in July. I felt it was a much better ride than it was given credit for, and I’m sad to see it go due to the location and the placement on the lake. The next ride in its place better build off the lake theme as well
I went to Kings Dominion in October and it was closed and I wanted to ride it to see how bad it was 😂. Long Live The Snake 🐍
Merry Christmas 😊
Christmas miracles do come true 👍
Man this was a brutal ride.
I think it’s absolutely safe to say that they will not be replacing this ride anytime soon if Kings Island still hasn’t replaced vortex.
I imagine most coaster enthusiasts are wondering why this took so long to happen.
What do you think the fate of Ninja at SFStL is with the merger? Seeing a lot of these old Venomas get the axe, praying Ninja is next/soon. Terrible ride on a great piece of land up front.
Needs to go! It will.
I think SFSTL and SFAmerica will probably get sold off.
Also seeing arrows go this is bad I LOBE arrow dynamics
*love
Something to homage to the dive anconda takes. Tilt coadter coming? Maybe a B&M dive machine?
