    Thank you Nurse Liz for this video. I just passed my FNP board exam this Saturday. I used Liek and Hollier’s AV as my review materials plus FNP mastery. I think 3-4 weeks of dedicated studying is sufficient to learn the materials. Here’s what I saw on my exam:
    Gynecomastia - spirinolactone
    Morton’s Neuroma
    How to diagnose: anemia and leukemia
    Hemolytic Anemia
    Chlamydia treatment for pregnant women
    HF
    Systolic murmur
    Hirschprung disease
    Test for strabismus for toddlers
    Anticholinergic effects
    Coumadin treatment and InR for first time dvt patients
    Acute bacterial prostatitis
    Ethical dilemma for a terminally ill child
    Dementia
    Copd treatment
    Metformin
    Sign for Rotator cuff
    Cluster and migraine headache

    Rash post viral infection seen in kids
    Skin diseases - pytiaris rosecea
    Tender points for Fibromyalgia
    Fasting glucose
    Hepatitis B and Hep Igg
    Acute hepatitis
    Leading cause of death for women
    Lateral epicondylitis

I'm not averaging the best scores on these practice exams, so I'm trying to improve, but I feel like I don't have enough time to catch up on all these subjects and ideas we have to remember. After going through a review book, I'm wondering if taking lots of study questions for the FNP AANP exam is a good strategy. It worked for the NCLEX to just go through lots and lots and lots of questions and rationales. Would you say that might work for the FNP exam or should I work on studying more content and later questions, but fewer questions in total? I mean still a lot but not use that as my primary strategy. Thanks!

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  4 года назад +3

      It's definitely helpful to do questions because you can read the rationales, but the NP board is definitely more content based vs the NCLEX that really was more geared toward logic and how to take a test. The NP boards didn't try to trip you up with weird wording. It was much more straight forward.

    I came to your video to see your opinion on the Fitzgerald review specifically. I don't graduate until December 2021, but my school keeps encouraging us to take the Fitzgerald review twice (once in the middle of the program and once towards the end). This just seems kind of crazy to me since I feel like I hardly know anything at this point so taking it this fall seems semi-pointless. Thoughts on this/if it would be worth it?

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  4 года назад +1

      I absolutely would NOT do the course twice. That sounds like a really big waste of money in my opinion. Sounds like your school is trying to have the review course do the job of teaching you. I did find it helpful to buy a review book (around 50 dollars usually) while going through the core classes. But definitely not a review course.

    Hey Nurse Liz. First and foremost thank you for sharing all your tips and information. I took the Barkley online review course (changed from live due to Covid) and have been working through the book. I also have the audio files to listen to. It’s been tough going so far. I have about 5 weeks before my exam and feel like it’s not enough time to get through it all. Would it be a bad idea to switch at this point to the the Leik prep book and app you suggested? My mind is going in a million different directions and each passing day increases my anxiety. Thanks in advance for you help.

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  4 года назад +1

      Hi! I wouldn't change course now. I've heard of many people having success with Barkley! It is a TON of information no matter which program you choose, and you are already started with that one so I would keep going! You can do it! Break up the remaining material into doable chunks to get through every day, and it makes it slightly more managable. YOU GOT THIS!

    I recently took my AANP exam and was unsuccessful. I studied over a month. Read and made notes for the Leik book and completed all the practice questions. Listened to the hollier audio twice. Purchased the APEA Q bank questions, did approx 1,000 + questions. Yet I still managed to fail by 50 points. I struggle with multiple choice and test anxiety. I’m nervous to retake it in a month. This could cost me the job I have lined up. Has anyone else been in this situation ?

    I've been watching your videos for the past year and just realized that I wasn't subscribed!! I have my exam coming up in a week and am concerned that I have not been studying enough. I did the Hollier live (virtual covid edition) the 2nd to last week in march. I had been using the fitzgerald book to study and for practice questions for course exams since January. I also felt like the fitzgerald book was too much info to go through. My exam prep started a little over 6 weeks ago but not very structured due to me and my young son being quantined together for 4 weeks for covid. I feel like that was a major setback and I am a little worried about how well I will do on the exam. A co-worker who recently passed recommended Leik to me about a week ago and my practice exam scores have really improved. I guess my question is how did you know that you were ready and adequately prepped for the exam? Also, I have been having testing anxiety since the covid pandemic began; What can I do to help put myself at ease during the exam?

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  4 года назад

      I for sure didn't feel "ready" but I knew that I had gone through all the material and had done all the Leik and Fitzgerald practice questions. I figured that there was NEVER going to be a point where I knew absolutely everything, but I had done a ton of studying and reviewed it all so I just went for it. But I don't think there's ever a feeling of "readiness" ya know? I am also no help with being at ease during the exam because i was hyperventilating haha. sorry!
