A very nice perspective on the modern aspects of Gettysburg National Park. The 150th was my final reenactment after nearly 30 years of reenacting. My two horses and myself retired never to reenact again. I first went to Gettysburg in 1972, with my brother, Brent and my mother and father. It was a life changing moment in my 11 year old life! I would later become a Civil War historian, author, educator and lecturer. How powerful a place like Gettysburg can be must never be underestimated. One of my books is about Captain Bennet Munger of the 44th New York Infantry. Little did that 11 year old boy ever realize or dream that his future life would be tied to that pivotal moment at the 44th New York monument on Little Round Top in 1972! Thank you again for sharing your talent & knowledge with the rest of us!
That is an awesome story of your life! Thank you for sharing 🙌🏻 I took my my then 7 year old grandson to Gettysburg and I am hoping something will take hold eventually for the love of Gettysburg and what have happened there.
One thing I want to add is the DVD of Gettysburg had a 1950s film about the battle as one of the extras. This was the two sided disk and it was on the second side. The film was in color, narrated by Leslie Nielsen and showed the battlefield as it looked at the time.
Your right, that's where I first saw the "Electric Map" Haven't been to the new museum yet. If you try to hide or cancel your history you may be destined to repeat it, always learn from your past mistakes. This was a great watch, thanks for your time, work in posting....
The only thing I don't like about the new visitor center is the high prices to see a movie about Gettysburg. I don't ever recall having to pay for a movie about the national park itself. Even the museum had a pretty high fee, so I was disappointed with that, our taxes should pay for that.
very much miss that aspect of the old visitors center. It was a hallmark of Gburg that the family stationwagon tour and a visit to the Visitors Center was all free. Add a picnic lunch and it made the burg a family place.
"What we've seen in Charlottesville in 2017, more recently the national capital from earlier in January, ...that Gettysburg could be a Charlottesville 2.0" I notice you didn't mention what was going on in many of the cities in 2020; the riots, destruction and the toppling of historic statues by left wing radicals. You didn't mention that. I worry about statues being destroyed by left extremists. I have to mention I was at Harper's Ferry recently and the park ranger not only did an excellent job in talking about the John Brown raid but at the end you couldn't tell which side he was on. He was that good, gave such a fair presentation that at the end he got a standing ovation. Unfortunately I can't say the same for you.
I totally agree with you! His leftist mindset has permeated his historical perspective. I can no longer watch any of his videos. I stopped watching this after the Charlottesville comment.

Great presentation! Slight correction for you - the 114th PA monument is actually at the Sherfy farm.
Great presentation! Informative and engaging!

Was very insightful. Really appreciate these videos.
I read the book excellent!
I was at the Congressional Medal of Honor Society event. It was spectacular and very moving.
