    What a nice little idea. This can absolutely be incorporated with a button down shirt. Roll your sleeves up to just under you elbows, then physically pull them up over you elbow. I’m not sure if rubber cement can be used for something a little longer lasting (hours) or not, but I’m gonna play around with this. With the rolled sleeves, you have natural cover for your vanishes, complete vanishes, or even a holdout. I have so much going through my mind right now. Excellent thinking!

    You could also use this as a key or coin bend. The second time you "catch" the object, you realize that you might have put a little bit too much force into it, causing the bend.

    Great trick. I would suggest you put the double stick tape on your neck, or perhaps some rubber cement so that the dice can be handed out for examination. I think an even better trick would be to use the nested coin wallets (I forget who sells that) on the back of your neck and have an initialed coin vanish and appear in the nested wallet.

    Great concept. Also instead of the double stick tape on the switched in object you could easily wrap it in your shirt collar or in a hoodie. Especially a dress shirt or some suit jackets. Leaves ya a bit cleaner. Wouldn’t work with all objects but definitely something small like a coin or die.

    What would be fun is long sleeves. Magnet under the sleeve inside the arm and a magnetic coin. Just place it near the magnet when you want to catch. When your ready to vanish just place on unseen magnet. Best part is you can immediately roll up sleeves completely hiding the coin.

    • @LloydB

    • @nightwines
      @nightwines Год назад

      Yeah, the moment I saw this video that is the very first thing that came to mind. To tag onto this you could have a magnet in the shirt collar. Probably be able to rig it where you tape the magnet to a piece of playing card or something and safety pin it to the shirt so you can move it to a different shirt(s). Or even a hat. There is also a certain holdout out there you could combine with all the above.

    • @wizardwillbonner
      @wizardwillbonner 3 месяца назад +1

      The problem with rolling up the sleeve afterwards, is they are already suspicious of long sleeves. I learned the dice switch 4 yrs ago using a coin(great way to get free drinks BTW) I wear a collared shirt during my performance. I drilled a small hole in the snake eye and inserted a small round magnet, filled back with epoxy and repainted all the dots, as it gets handed out to be examined (great time killer). The other magnet is taped under my collar with black tape. I walk out with the dice in place. A Uday covert reel retractable with kevlar thread is pinned on the inside of my shirt under my armpit. The thread out my rolled up sleeve over my elbow over my index finger back to my arm at the elbow, with a piece of wax stuck there. Tension is held by keeping my upper arm tight at the armpit. Placing the coin the second time, I slide the string off my finger and picking up the wax and smashing it on the coin also taking up the extra slack. (Don't stick coin to skin) I know this is long winded but actually easy and simple. With coin in place and grabbing the dice. As you swing your arm down release the tension by relaxing armpit. Coin slide up sleeve and out of sight. It will take some practice.

      @@wizardwillbonner Fairpoint. That said I find that it doesn’t matter if I have sleeves or don’t have sleeves they still think it’s sleeves lol. So I tend not to really worry about it because they’re gonna think that anyways

    ... that parts of this effect must have been really popular in India in the 1960s because I saw so many "uncles" perform variations there and in the USA when i was a kid in the '70s and '80s. The catch. Palming the coin in the right hand and tucking it into the collar while pretending to place it on elbow and screening with the left hand. Palming a second coin and then catching two coins where there was only one placed on elbow. And then vanishing the coins.

    Thank you for your video tutorials. I've been watching every chance I get, because I'm new to magic and planning on performing for hospitalized kids. May I make a constructive criticism, this is coming from advice that I received when I was a DJ for KGOL/KBRZ years ago. KISS! Keep It Simple Stupid, you have the same problem I did, with the tendency to over explain everything. "Say enough to get your point across, and then turn off the Mic"! (meaning shut up) "Just because you're on air to fill a 3hr time slot, you're not a talk show!" Believe me, it stung a little! But I didn't die from it! I say this not to be mean or nasty. You have very good content and subject matter, you just repeat the same information too many times.(There's a back button for that)
    Case in point. There's two or three others that I watch, that teach and never say a word. I don't care for their choice in background music, so I turn down the volume.
    I know this is unsolicited advice and I'll get slammed by desk jockeys for being a dick! Just wanted to pass on advice that helped improve my following. Keep up the good work.

    I don't think you need the double sided tape on the coin. If you show the coin is the only thing in your hand and do the real move where you remove your left hand at the last minute, then you can do it again and this time, clip the coin between your middle and ring finger and just take it away as you pretend to do the move with the dice in your hand. In addition, you don't need double stick tape on the dice either since you don't have to walk around with it on your neck. You can simply lodge it just under your shirt on your shoulder and it will stay there while you are simply standing.
