"plAy it slOw with a mEtronOme". I swear my blood boils everytime i see this kind of comment in a guitar forum. If you are practicing it wrong, no amount of slow practicing with a motronome will help you solve your fucking problem.

The metronome is like a test in public school: it doesn’t build speed/educate you: it tests your speed/education.

I have never used a metronome. . it . helps with some stuff But when playing live the reality is tempos speed up and down. I have always thought it was better to learn how to lock with what is happening versus playing to a click perfectly unless it is studio recording stuff

Even if you give a really detailed account of why you are asking your question, it will all be ignored. Those, "helpful," folks will skim it and give you the same old inaccurate replies. "There are no shortcuts, dude." "It's a lifetime of learning." This will happen even if that has nothing to do with your issue.

I think everyone should learn how to ask better questions

Easy answer , try learning scales , get your fingers moving , listen to what they are playing , develop your ear and if all else fails , look for the tabs of said song . Not saying they are always right but it is a starting point and you will hear what they are doing is wrong . Been playing for over 40 years and I still ask questions .

I've been teaching guitar for 10 years and I agree. Whenever a beginner guitarist asks me questions like this at the pub or other events, my answer is always the same, "I'd have to watch you play first." and recommend they get a teacher if they're self teaching. Thanks for this content.

Just gotta put in the work, playing guitar for 1 year IS still very new, once you really get into It you'll be able to pull off bars all over the fret board with all of your fingers even the Pinky

what's going wrong? Some of the comments avoid dealing with the root of the problem. Moving higher up the neck doesn't teach you how to do them on the lower frets, etc
