The dust cap on this scope has two parts. The smaller cap is for solar viewing with proper solar filter. The larger dust cap is for general viewing. When you remove the larger dust cap, the smaller one is also removed as it sits on top of the larger one.

I was comparing this to the Orion StarBlast 102mm. Of course I want to view the night sky, but is this really good for daytime terrestrial viewing? Is the image mirrored when viewed and can you correct this somehow? thx

    • @AstroCrescent
      @AstroCrescent  Год назад

Thanks for watching! All telescopes produce a mirrored image. Using a common star diagonal corrects the upside down problem. Using a special 'Erect Image Prism Diagonal' corrects the backwards (left to right) problem as well for terrestrial use.

Hangabout..! Come on now Pawan, you still had some Christmas money left over..? I don't think so after your last un-boxing.
Quote 'So I asked my wife'. that's a miss quote, you should say 'So I asked my Beautiful wife' sounds much much more like.
I have happy tears in my eyes. LoL.
Soo down to business now, that box image doesn't do the telescope any justice at all, kinda looks a bit plastic toy like on the box, whereas when you have everything set up it's a thing of beauty and the important part the mount is really made of metal and sturdy.
Will look forward to your update Pawan.
ps. the triangular small metal item is a 'Turn Screw' old word for gun tools made for the job, not really a screwdriver kina thingy but doe's the same thing flat and pocket size.
pps. does your Beautiful wife have a unmarried sister in the uk you lucky lucky lad again, lol.
okay I will honest up i got a fantastic deal on a svbony SV48 and a couple of svbony 50mm spotting scopes in a aliexpress svbony uk warehouse new-year clearance sale, I have a couple of weeks before my mastercard bill turns up, I'll take my chances, insert nervous coughing noise hear.. lol.

Thanks Dave. Appreciate your kind words. These days the waiting time for Astro gear is really long. And when you get a deal, you don’t want to miss it, provided you are serious about your hobby. That’s why this AZ102.
I saw some videos on RUclips where people have taken amazing images with these low cost beginner scopes and planetary cameras on their phones and DSLRs. Just wanted to try that.
If you are looking for a similar handy and light-weight setup, go for at least 80mm aperture and short tube - like Celestron Travel Scope AZ80. I saw it is about $175 on Canadian Amazon. Should be less than £100 for you. If there’s any deal, go for it. CS!

@@AstroCrescent Hello Pawan, thank you for your reply.
So last years 2021 christmas present to myself was someone else's unwanted gift that I picked up on ebay in October 2021, an Celestron Astro FI its the wifi goto setup that came with the 90mm refractor very similar to your new one. and at half price compared to brand new, it's in mint condition so its only been out of the big cardboard box a couple of time's by the looks of it. It's great fun and you can nip indoors out of the cold and view on the tablet and control with a Bluetooth phone.
This year's 2022 christmas present to myself oddly purchased in October again is a Celestron Astromaster 130EQ MD, on a CG-3 German Equatorial mount with a small motor drive. That once again was someone's unwanted present and I got it at half the price for a new one on ebay. The build quality is very good on both of those two scopes and also great price wise for beginners like myself.
While careful and being patient when shopping around 'waiting for offers/deals'
and Yes the 'long' delivery waiting times if ordering straight from China I have managed to purchase some higher quality celestron 1.25 eyepieces and filters that I can interchange between all the scopes, and i can now use my svbony cameras 'birthday presents 2022' to view on the tablet or laptop.
My pet hate is boxes, so i have carrying bag's for the transporter and short term storage of my scopes, i throw the Giant cardboard boxes into the recycling bins and put the scops and tripods into the padded nylon carry bags available which take up much lesser space and make quicker the setting up's.
My extra christmas bonus the brand new svbony SV48 "90mm aperture F5.5 refractor" is a gem along with the two 50mm guide scopes in the sales and was very hard to miss out on considering the normal selling price and the offer available too me at tgat time, that's what my mastercard is for.! lol
I didn't have to search around to hard on youtube for some good reviews on the svbony scope and i was delighted with the scope on its arrival when it came in its own padded aluminium hard case 'inside a cardboard box within a cardboard box' shipping packaging.
I could clearly see the focusing section of your new AZ102 scope having incredibly close similarities in its cast metal construction to my now Pride & Joy SV48's focusing section which has a as normal 2" and reducer to 1 1/4" built-in as standard for the eyepieces.
So I'm saving up now for christmas 2023 and hoping to buy a Celestron CG5-VX mount like yours and try my hand at astro photography.
My birthday is February 24th and I'm already paid up and on the preorder list for the Dwarf Lab 2 mini goto electronic scope, release date mid Feb in the uk.
My pockets are now completely empty and I'm on bread and water till March. LoL
Take care, have fun and clear sky's.
      David
