Austin always has an extra glow in a venue where he knows his voice will ring off the walls. I was surprised at how dampened Branson sounded, I suppose they expect acts to add effects to their music instead of good ole fashioned acoustics. I know when the Reiman was first made over the old timers revolted, they wanted to be able to hear themselves fully, and I think it was Roy Clark that said it made a banjo sound like an old cigar store public telephone ring just different notes, so they took down the damp tiles in the upper corners and rounded out the flights and backstage again. Some still say they messed it up, but fire codes and new materials had to be employed before somebody went through the floor. Anyway, there is nothing like a happy tenor face, and that’s why they do seven bridges road, to test how the acoustics flow with audience in the room, very sneaky. Chris Rupp would get that look in his eyes too when he heard Austin ring, then he would know all his hard work would really pay off. This must have been a very cool venue.
