Speed, control, dynamics, poly rhythms to infinity........ very skilled drummer.
And people say Mangini doesn't have feel
I've been playing drums for 12 years, and MM can play stuff with one hand that I can't play with two. I don't get how someone can be that good - he's absolutely incredible!!!
Years of dedication and understanding of knowing what he wanted to achieve.
He started playing at 2 and a half years old. He was mimicing buddy rich whe he was 9
5:40 he's keeping the time with the left foot, while with hands he's playing twins, triplets, quadruplets, quintuplets, sextuplets, septuplets and so on... no mistakes, he's a fuckin' machine!!
mike is very dynamic and rythmic love it !

have you seen their drummer auditions? Aquiles didn't stand a chance when they hit him up with the odd signature test. Altough he was the first drummer that came into my mind for DT.
a partir de los 6 minutos se pone mejor, lo eh visto hacer solos mejores, lo que mata del tipo es su disociación
POR favor fiense en el minuto 2:08 como el tipo (haciendo una burla) cuenta los quintillos: un-do-tre-cua-cin... jaja obvio q en ingles...

obviously technically superior to portnoy, but terribly boring, uninspired, and uninteresting as a writer in dream theater.
When I listen to this drummer what separates the greats from him is that they developed a distinct sound that makes them a great drummer and pioneer of the instrument..Close your eyes and listen..you would not know who the drummer was unless you opened your eyes..The pioneers would have developed gimmick playing if it were necessary..But he is a fabulous drummer in his own right.
Eugene Brown i would know it’s mangini even if blinded. He is The only one who play this super fast& complex mechanical sound. It’s his trait

@Leiarh777 I'm not going to argue further, because quite frankly, I haven't heard that much of Mangini. I mostly went on what I've heard others say about it. From the things I've heard, I thought Portnoy and Carey sounded better. I'm glad you kept it civil, too.

nice try with the spanish... lol but you mean: "es un baterista muy bueno (next part is a "WTF", and then), y es muy bueno" ... free lesson: "el hombre es bueno = the man is good" "la mujer es buena = the woman is good". ..see the differences in gender (el hombre, la mujer= the man, the woman)... "very = muy" "much(female)= mucha" "much(male): mucho" ...a video is a thing called in "male ways" = "El video" "El hombre" "La mujer" "the car= El carro" "the chain= La cadena (female form)"

In fact, at that time, Mangini had already been called for the auditions. So, he was just learning the DT songs by listening to them only when he came to South America for that clinic tour. Then, when he went back to the USA, he practised the songs for a week. Can you believe it? Absolutely incredible he had been capable of doing such a thing! He´s a monster! :D

is not just to compare drummers, they have differentes ways to play and knowledge or techs skills. Even that I enjoy both drummers MP and MM.

That hand thing at the beginning is unbelievable! I've witnessed drummers like buddy rich and Jojo mayer doing one handed stuff using a certain kind of hand technique to make it easier but this guy just uses all fingers! Incredible!!!

@Leiarh777 Mangini may be a technically superior drummer, but a lot of people agree with me on that Portnoy and Carey are better drummers because their drumming is very dynamic, compared to Mangini who's rather straightforward and, in the words of a guy who knows a lot of drumming: "As dynamic as a log"
dont know why people gives much importance to this guy most of the shit he plays is random fast single strokes

lo sé, y supongo que es porque conoce de teoria musical, pero como dije antes eso no tiene nada que ver con el sentido musical, es un robot tocando xD
