omg when I visited Edinburgh with a friend we randomly found Armchair Books during a rain shower and we spent 2-3 hours in there. It was paradise! So lovely to see it here 🥰
I absolutely looove Armchair Books, going there feels like stumbling into someone's private library. Floor to ceiling, it's absolutely stacked with books and it smells exactly like a bookshop should (although that may just be my personal little kink)
Edinburgh is such a beautiful city. I only spent a weekend there but I definitely want to go back. Everywhere I turned there seemed to be some kind of literary connection that I’d find without meaning to like Deacon’s House Cafe. I was so envious of all the literary monuments. We don’t tend to do that in Canada and we should!
I’ve been to Edinburgh just once 3 years ago when I had just moved to London and I visited a few of these (since you’d recommended them)! Thank you for sharing, I’m pretending I’m travelling right now from lockdown in Sydney, Australia ✨
The only place I've ever been to in the UK is Edinburgh. And the bookshops were the best part. I wasn't able to find that many though, so seeing videos like this just makes me want to go back again, and check out all of these.
Armchair Books 📚🏴 oh how I love that bookstore, visited Edinburgh in December 2022, on a Saturday afternoon folks were lining up on the footpath to get in. 🏴❤️🇦🇺
oooh I love that one! I should recommend it more often, for some reason I always end up forgetting about the charity bookshops in Edinburgh when I talk to people - and the Amnesty bookshop is my favourite charity shop!
Aww I love the Lighthouse book shop. Some of these Ive never been to which I'll need to rectify because I'm constantly through the Burgh (like Transreal seems like a place I must visit)
I'm actually going to Edinburgh for a day trip from Newcastle tomorrow - 11/8 - so this video came at the perfect time. like so many bookworms i like to get a book from the cities/countries i visit and if i can support an independent/semi-independent shop thats even better :)
Aww this makes me so excited! I lived just outside of Edinburgh during my childhood and studied there. I’m now based in Aberdeen and haven’t visited since before Covid. I miss it so much and can’t wait to visit I once I am fully vaccinated!
Lighthouse is my favourite bookshop in the world (from the ones I've been to). Absolutely love them. I think because it's a little tight for wheelchair users during regular opening hours they give you the option to come in while no one else is in the shop and choose books
Jean!! Putting in the access information!! Absolutely love to see it 💖 this is gonna be so helpful when I eventually visit Edinburgh! (I've been wanting to for years 😩)
I have been wanting to read more Scottish fiction and didn't know Blackwells had a seperate section for it. Not heard of the others even though I live in Edinburgh. Definitely need to check them out
as a broke, depressed 30 something living in nyc, this place in scotland is my /dream/. i don't know how or if i'll ever make it, but im never giving up on the dream
I've just been recommended your channel. First thing I've got to say is that with that surname, it was almost destiny for you to become a book reviewer on RUclips.
Hi , just wanted to let u know , “fully accessible” is always a misleading term. Lighthouse does have a ramp but it needs to be manually put out so the shop isn’t accessible on arrival. There is also other issues. x
I want to visit THEM ALL!
I’ll take you!

I was in Edinburgh for a couple of days this week and my boyfriend and I visited all of these bookshops and bought books in every single one 😍❤️❤️❤️❤️

I visit Edinburgh in 2019 and I just loved it. I really would love to live there! 🥰 And there Bookstores… love them all.

the Amnesty Bookshop in Marchmont is also such a good little hidden gem
Oooh I'll have to take a look! I used to live in Marchmont when I was at uni but don't think I've been.
oooh I love that one! I should recommend it more often, for some reason I always end up forgetting about the charity bookshops in Edinburgh when I talk to people - and the Amnesty bookshop is my favourite charity shop!
I challenge you to do one of these walkabouts in Glasgow. (Thud! Gauntlet is thrown down).
Me clicking on this like ARMCHAIR BOOKS BETTER BE HERE
It would be sacrilegious if not!
I miss Edinburgh so much and can't wait to be able to visit again!

I’ve been to Blackwell’s yesterday. Tomorrow I’ll try a couple more from your video.

Agreed - I always find something interesting and I’m really glad to hear that as well!
Love videos like this - love visiting bookshops when I travel!
I miss all the fabulous UK bookshops. Bookshops are my zen spaces, all the browsing.
We have some lovely bookshops in NZ but books here are sooooo expensive $35 to $40 for a paperback (approx 20 GBP 😮).
Loved this! I’ve been to Lighthouse Bookshop before and it’s so lovely in there
I cannot wait to come up at some point next year and visit allllll of these beauties 😍
Jean!! Putting in the access information!! Absolutely love to see it 💖 this is gonna be so helpful when I eventually visit Edinburgh! (I've been wanting to for years 😩)
This was such a cute and cozy video🥰
Glad you thought so ^_^
I have been wanting to read more Scottish fiction and didn't know Blackwells had a seperate section for it.

I love Armchair
Yes! I did that during lockdown and they were so nice.
This was lovely!! Would definitely like to see a part 2.....and 3 and 4 and however many you want to make :)
Ahaha I may run out of bookshops eventually but I suppose I could venture beyond Edinburgh ;)
I visited Lighthouse and Blackwells and found a few new books in there. would recommend.

I would love to visit all of these beautiful looking bookshops if Covid eases and lockdowns lift.
One day!!
