@@cate01a No, chaff only works when your rate of closure to the radar is the same as the chaff. In this situation, you are heading towards the missile so the chaff will be ineffective.

Try and keep an eye on your indicated air speed rather than your true airspeed, as it provides a better picture of your manoeuvrability due to it accounting for air pressure. Currently the HUD displays TAS, but I believe that might be changing soon.

When u slow down and deploy flares to defeat heat-seeking missiles, do you also apply brakes? Or just kill throttle? Also, why do you slow down at all?
To defeat the heaters, I need to throttle down to cool down the aircraft. I don't want to slow down, it's just a consequence of throttling down. The only time I would want to slow down is when I'm about to merge (pass the bandit) because coming in too fast will result in me taking too long to bring the nose around.
also iirc heaters make zero noise. if someone is closeish and has locked on you for a while theyve probably sent a heater radars on the other hand always make noise regardless how far they are
Cutting the throttle doesn't really help, but G-pulling is good if accompanied by intense flare spam. You can, however, cut the throttle at the last moment when pulling since if you get hit it's not gonna matter anyway. The afterburner is gonna be a killing blow though, so avoid it at all costs. + a very annoying tactic for a guns 'n heaters server, shut off your engines and only keep the APU running if there's nobody firing at you - with good energy management you'll still have enough power to maneuver for about 30 seconds while being immune to enemy missiles
@@radosawrudolf4931 The odds of heat seekers going for flares instead of you increases if you throttle down, or at the very least kill the afterburners

ARAD on HUD mode, and make sure you have the visor down and HMCS on.
Lowest speed depends on your altitude. If you pull on the stick and nothing happens, you're too slow.
Try and keep an eye on your indicated air speed rather than your true airspeed, as it provides a better picture of your manoeuvrability due to it accounting for air pressure. Currently the HUD displays TAS, but I believe that might be changing soon.
Just from watching the video it seems that you always want to be going near or above mach 1 to g-pull at low altitude. (just my observation)

Is there no punishment for constantly over-g'ing the aircraft? Good tutorial, but you'd probably be gliding without wings after doing all of that.
You can bend your airframe in VTOL VR, but it happens at around 14Gs.
